I just broke 10k today, after completely abandoning my writing yesterday to do pretty much nothing, like and idiot razz I'm gonna catch up tonight by keep at it until I get 13k or 14k.

By the way, where did you all get those NaNo signature counters? I would definitely invest in one! biggrin

emo

I'm stuck in a TVTropes loop, guys. I've written maybe two sentences and I just lost two hours of my life reading about Crowning Moments of Funny.

And I'm worried that I'm making my main character's companion too helpful - I'm trying to keep the b*****d from just info-dumping everything he knows on the main character but he won't shut up! SHE ISN'T SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT, IT'LL BREAK EVERYTHING. SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP. Next time he starts that I'm going to have dogs come out of the walls and bite him or something.

Excellent! Thank you so much! biggrin

Question: Name a relatively unimportant character now, or refer to him as Nav or Navigator? Names are distracting me. What would y'all do?

This too is sacred

LMAO rofl Yes, do it!
Commander Oblivious: A simple monosyllabic name would do it. Or better yet, call him Noname (pronounced NO-na-me). wink

Squee! Got the widget to work! *puts in sig*

Either give the character a different enough name so that it's easily memorable for that specific character, or just introduce the character as their navigator, and refer to them as such. Naming a lot of characters gets annoying, but it sometimes give the story a more realistic feel when even the most minor characters to the plot have an identification.

I like the idea of calling him Nav. o.o
I've been using my MMC's stage name "Pyralis", because I can't settle on a birth name for him.

I'm a writer. I think dramatically. When someone says "doctor's appointment" I hear "final arrangements."
I'm so far behind on my NaNo it's not even funny sweatdrop
I'm still working at my plot. Luckily me and a friend are going to have a mini write-in tomorrow and I can totally bounce ideas off of him. heart

Donate your black ink Plz? Thank yah =D

I've decided I'm only going to check my word count right before I go to bed.
And I've got caffeinated soda and chocolate and tea and I plan to stay up until I've got at least 12k.

One huge, annoying drawback to NaNo is that one little picture can give me a ton of ideas and I want to write those but it won't go towards my word count.

I've been stalling for about 300 words to keep from having my main character read the mysterious notes she's just picked up because I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY SAY. Silent Hill has to have spooky notes around but, nooo, I can't think of s**t. I suck so hard.

Brennivin: Father forbid pastille day when I growing up... I say "Trick and treat!" one time and he turn me to silverwares. Like TEN silverwares. It suck.

"We're right behind you lololol"
"It's actually the cat"
"I swear I had nothing to do with the doors"

Try "This is a very ominous note that may or may not be important later. But since you can never know for sure, I'm just going to take up space in your inventory whilst you wander around cluelessly".

"When you're tired of life, come to Haven. And someone will kill you." -Swords of Haven, by Simon R. Green

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. -Albert Einstein

I feel like the scenes I'm writing are in too short of chunks. I'm working on backstory right now, but I'm less than pleased with the results I'm getting. It feels almost too impersonal, but I'm not sure how to really bring one character's personality to the surface, given that I don't really know what her personality is. I know basically everybody else- except her.

Any suggestions?
