Um, hi guys. *waves*
First year of NaNoWriMo for me... kinda nervous...
Only at 600 words too. The beginning is the hardest to write, I think.
Any advice for a newbie to NaNoWriMo?

I agree with Tobaeus. Just keep writing. That's the best advice. Don't let doubts get the better of you. Even on days when you think it sounds like crap, just push on. I also find that if you get slowed down by boring chapters or can't get a good transition or something, it can be good to just jump ahead to something more fun. Then you'll get more done and you can always come back later to add those little pieces. =3

Also if you are stuck find someone for a word war. That really works for me especially on scenes were I want to over analyze things. Sometimes I turn out good stuff that would have never happened because I was so busy frustrating myself on trying to put in what I thought might be right.

I started it late, and I am barely reaching the daily word count goal. Does it matter?

Write one novel, 50 000 words in one month, no biggie!

Probably not. You may find that how much you write changes over the month. Last year I was just even with the word count, now I'm racing through but that might change come next week or the week after. So now that you are just barely reaching the daily word goal, next week you may be ahead.

Last year I barely scraped by (I did it all in the last 3 days), but this year I'm determined to... not do that.

Did anyone recommend the write-or-die website yet? I don't want to dig through every single page to see. ._.

Yeah it has been brought up several time. Here a link if you need it.

Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia.

ugh, hardly hitting 3000 words and I've been at it for 4 days. Sucks when you have A.D.D :C

DJDeath: You wrote 50k words in less than 4 days? Seriously? Wow. What's your name on the Nano forums, I'll look you up.

Wrote another 1000 words last night before bed and am starting to flesh out the setting and history of the world a bit. I'm sad, as it appears all the zombies are already taken care of by time or crews of humans. Later on I might throw in one or two though, leftover relics protected from the ravages of time and rot by dry environments.

Also, it's becoming important to me to remember that just because I have to write FAST doesn't mean my STORY has to progress quickly. I dont' want to get to the end and still have 10k words to write.

You mean mummies? XD Actually, with that, you could have them from very dry areas or very cold areas. Perhaps there could even be something to do with tar pits... *gets lost in weird thoughts*

I'm not very far at all...but, you know, I get a whole week off from school during the week of Thanksgiving, so that'll give me extra time if I need it. In fact, with that kind of time, if I get far enough before then, I'll get done that week.

No need to stare, I know I'm criminally attractive.
