I'm a writer. I think dramatically. When someone says "doctor's appointment" I hear "final arrangements."

Anyone up for a word war? PM me if so.

Um, hi guys. *waves*
First year of NaNoWriMo for me... kinda nervous...
Only at 600 words too. The beginning is the hardest to write, I think.
Any advice for a newbie to NaNoWriMo?

Advice? Uh, don't give up. No matter what. Just keep typing and you'll be all right.

This helps me! http://writeordie.drwicked.com/ makes me write like a maniac to avoid the noises it issues. I usually end up simply writing the bits that sound the most fun, or what I want to get too the quickest in it, and then rewrite it longer into my actual NaNo. Then later on when I'm desperate to write something easy/boring/anything to up my word count, I write connection scenes.

I gotta say though, after putting everything off and writing 32k words in 3 days? DON'T PROCRASTINATE. Write as MUCH as you can ALL the time. It's hell to pay when you're 1000 words down, and an hour from the deadline. @@;

Remember; A novel is just one word after another until you stop.

PS; I just hit 8k. Yay.

Good luck Ultra, I'm sure you will do fine even starting 4 days late. I know in the long run I will probably skip that many days of writing, but its all about making up for in on other days. biggrin

This is my first year and I hope I can follow through with myself and finish. If I do, this will be my first story I've ever finished.

I agree with Tobaeus. Just keep writing. That's the best advice. Don't let doubts get the better of you. Even on days when you think it sounds like crap, just push on. I also find that if you get slowed down by boring chapters or can't get a good transition or something, it can be good to just jump ahead to something more fun. Then you'll get more done and you can always come back later to add those little pieces. =3
