National Novel Writing Month

Please use this sticky for all NaNoWriMo-related discussion, questions, chatter, and advice!

Yes, it's that time of the year again. What time of the year, you ask? Well, there's Thanksgiving, and preparing for your final exams, and...why, it's time for National Novel Writing Month!

Started by a group of 21 friends in 1999, NaNoWriMo has since ballooned into an international event with over one hundred thousand participants last year. So gather up your friends and your imaginations, and let's tackle the gigantic goal of writing a novel in a single month! "How silly!" you think? "How absurd!" you say? Well, you're absolutely right, but that doesn't matter one whit. We'll still do it, and we'll have fun at the same time!

I already know what I'm writing. It's up on my DeviantART page.

Haha.

Already started outlining, as well, and I already signed up for NaNoWriMo. And since something has been cleared out and I don't have that damn knot in my stomach anymore-- I can get to writing it, when the time comes.

"So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye!?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die!?
Oh baby, can you listen to me, baby?
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right out of here!"

Watch me.
*hops around in excitement* I can't wait! I've already started outlining and planning.

Hello there! Three year veteran, one year winner, took advantage of the free proof from CreateSpace and officially published my book back in May. Looking forward to (hopefully) winning this year, too!

A kiddley divey too, wooden shoe?

I really wanna use nanowrimo as an excuse to actually get to writing my own novel, i've got characters, setting, plot, everything!- just not the gumption to actually put it in paper. so november is my give-myself-a-kick-in-the-butt month

Has anyone found any good time planning pages for the event? I heard there was actually a book written about finishing it and planning time wisely, but I haven't been able to find it.

I'm not really sure. But my advice is to get as much done as possible in the first few days, when you're still pumped about it. I did JulNoWriMo this year (same thing, in July), and got about 48k done in five days. After that I kind of lost my motivation, and finished around the 12th of the month. XD

This will be my sixth NaNoWriMo, and right now, I haven't a clue as to what I'm going to write. Odds are it'll be a smutty gay fantasy story, since that's all I seem to write these days, lol, but the details are still sketchy. I'd like to write the next book in my fantasy series, but I need to edit the three books before it first, and I'm in a serious editing slump. stressed

I'm sure I'll think of something, though. Yay, NaNoWriMo!

I might want to give this a try, even once. but dam I'm busy at the moment.

Ah well. Maybe I'll just, like, do it in the secret...

I'm so excited for it! X3 It's my first year, so I'm a little nervous, but I know I can do it. I have the story and everything. I'm actually imagining everything that I can while keeping my mind open, waiting until November to write anything down other than the summary so I don't forget.

Do you know if it's okay to map out the character or the plot idea for it? I don't know if it is, but I'm so excited to start it.
