How many People think it's a good idea to Make the Bad guy of the Story in to an ally of the Main Character?

I Know It's Been Done Before But I Need help Push My Story Along.
If You Need Any info On My Story Let Me Know and I'll post a Brief Summary Of My Story

You're welcome...you'll probably get more helpful advice there anways, than from a bunch of random anime kids. (Though there are quite a few here who take writing seriously too)

While that is true, improperly done it can ruin the character.
I personally find it pathetic when some uber badass that killed indiscriminately becomes a good guy when he realizes he did some mistakes, and then he turns into a bleeding heart, and what more, everyone seems to forget that he used to be a psychotic killer.

im writting one and some of the main charicters friends are huge bad guys. im on my second book, and its pretty awsome.
When in doubt, have the girl get pregnant.

Works like a charm.
Well here's a rough summary of it the main bad guy is actually working towards the greater good for humanity but has personally messed up the life of the main character's life
what ever you do don't have the ex-bad guy constantly thinking about getting back at the main character even after he goes good, that gets real annoying.
