Reproduction.
That's what I need help with.
So my story is about a group of magical-type people called Treelings. Think of them as a subspecies of faery. They closely resemble young human children, with a minor difference here and there, and are related directly to the trees. As such, one of them might live for centuries, before "returning to the Tree Souls."
I'm having trouble conceiving a fashion in which they might create offspring, as it were. I thought of some ritual involving a great old tree, or potentially the females giving birth themselves, but neither seem particularly feasible.
Anyone got any better ideas?
Seeds. You could make the tree give seeds.
And then what? The Treelings plant the magical seeds, and a few months later out pops a baby?
No, then Treelings are born. I mean, they don't have to be taken care of, they can take care of themselves the moment they escape from the seed.
