hey, now that i've seen this, maybe i can stop bugging my friends for help! sweatdrop
since this thread is all about helping with plots and whatnot, can i make a suggestion? why doesn't somebody make a sticky for betas? where you can advertise yourself as a beta or recruit one if you need it? just an idea...
@ Naisuki i realize that in your head the full idea may be original, but what you gave us doesn't sound so much so. i think in order for people to help you, you need to outline the plot a little bit more, and/or establish the character of the prince [at least].
*is he reluctant to rule the kingdom? if yes, that would be more reason for the revolution-it could be more successful. if he's not, what is he going to do to stop it?
*why would there be a revolution in the first place? why is it that the fairies want to govern themselves? has the royal family/government wronged them in some way, or does government just not appeal to them?
*what are the "new ideas" spreading around?
*how is the court conspiring against the prince? do they want to completely overthrow him, kill him maybe? or do they just want to dissolve the hierarchy?
sweatdrop kay, i'm done playing 20 questions now. but those are some things you may want to think about to help you. [you don't necessarily have to answer them...]

I know the answers to all of them...just didn't want to post something outrageously long and maybe even hard to understand.
Like any civilization there soon needed to be a leader if there were something like a war or such...a primal need for leadership. You imagine fairies as fun-loving beings frolicking the woods...but what if a while ago a hero were needed? Soon afterwords the hero might become king...soon establishing a type of monarchy through the people.
The ideas are bigger than you may imagine. Someone obviously has something against the king and will stop at nothing to suceed. They are spreading the idea of freedom...and that idea spreads fast. Soon enough even people in the court will have heard of it...will think of it...and may actually be led to believe in a possible freedom where things may be slightly simpler. The fairies know the king will die soon...when that happens the government will be instable and easy for them to revolt and govern themselves. They want freedom...although the one who began it wants something else entirely.
The court conspiring against him is iffy...he honestly doesn't know...but everything is a possibility. Things begin to happen...violence even.
As for developing the characters...I have to think of a name for the prince. He doesn't want to rule...but he's not against anyone...he's just young and doesn't want to do it...especially when the whole kingdom is slowly viewing things differently. Everything he does may be wrong. He's the type who might want to reach an agreement with his people...and behind him are a court of 7 who each think differently on what he should do. (Save for the twins, Ace and Bade.)
The huge plot twist (which I am reluctant in giving out.) is that the one who started it has a secret. She's a shapeshifter and once was a friend of an old old king. The whole point being that the dead king was a false ruler and actually a backstabbing friend. (In her mind at least.) There is a reason he became king...which I will not reveal. She has a son now...one who does not know his heritage. He just knows that his mother really loves him...but seems busy with other things. At 15 or so...a young teen she sends him to get a job...to help support them. He does so...and a golden oppurtunity shows. He is hired at the palace where many a trustworthy servant is needed. His character is timid and shy but quite lovable. He has no idea who he really is...he will be set into the story without letting the readers know either.
The prince and servant will obviously meet at some point...yada yada yada. There will be slow transitions within stages of the revolution...etc etc etc. The plot twist is revealed...the whole kingdom slowly turns back to normal (which may be hard because of how serious this actually was...so time will be spent on that...) the ending is relatively happy.
Better? Because I know I'm not telling a lot of things.
