I need some inspiration. I want to start something for this year. Not for this year's nano so technically I should type here but is there maybe a thread where people can be beta readers and help you out with writing when the nano forums aren't open?

You do know that the NaNo forums are open all year, right? And they'll help with stuff that's not for NaNo.

Otherwise, try searching for a beta guild if you don't want to post your piece up in the forums.

There are plenty of other people who have organized similar challenges throughout the year. I run the guild for the Gaian Summer Writing Months, which is June/July/August. If you're looking for something sooner, Google FebNoWriMo (there's one of these unofficial ones for most months). There's also Script Frenzy in April, if you write scripts.
