I tried last year, I was 13, had only a really old desktop to write on, no life, and very limited computer time.

Needless to say it was a disaster. redface

THIS year, however, I have my laptop and I'll plan in advance. So I think I'll at least make it this year. I'm excited! 3nodding

I've never done NaNoWriMo. I've thought about it, but never done it. So I'm I'm really interested but somehow feel like it'll be epic fail. redface

On the other hand I really need to get my a** in gear and work on my story. So I might join in and hope for the best. We'll see what happens...

I'm so excited for it! X3 It's my first year, so I'm a little nervous, but I know I can do it. I have the story and everything. I'm actually imagining everything that I can while keeping my mind open, waiting until November to write anything down other than the summary so I don't forget.

Do you know if it's okay to map out the character or the plot idea for it? I don't know if it is, but I'm so excited to start it.

Planning is fine, you just can't start the actual novel.

A friend told me about this a few months ago and I was really interested, it's nice that so many gaians are going to do it.

I heart NaNoWriMo. This'll be my fifth year (and hopefully fifth win!). I'm Maemi over there if anyone cares.

I have a horrible mental disease that keeps me from talking most of the time. It's called... common sense.

This is my third Nano. I came so close to making it last year, but didn't have a chance to upload my word countable stuff thanks to working out of town. This year, however, I'm going to win.

Well technically you can start it, you just can't count the words you wrote before November 1st. I plan on writing the beginning ahead of time, because they're always so hard to get into. XD

NaNoWriMo.org FAQ
Do I have to start my novel from scratch on November 1? Can I use an outline?

Yes.

This sounds like a dumb, arbitrary rule, we know. But bringing a half-finished manuscript into NaNoWriMo all but guarantees a miserable month. You'll care about the characters and story too much to write with the gleeful, anything-goes approach that makes NaNoWriMo such a creative rush. Give yourself the gift of a clean slate, and you'll tap into realms of imagination and intuition that are out-of-reach when working on pre-existing manuscripts.

Outlines and plot notes are very much encouraged, and can be started months ahead of the actual novel-writing adventure. Previously written prose, though, is punishable by death.

So technically you can't start it, if you want to follow all their arbitrary rules. However, I'll admit that last year I carried my GothNoWriMo project over for NaNo, but only counted the words I actually wrote in November. Choosing to disregard the rules is different than not knowing them.

I saw the thread and already I started getting excited. This will be my second year attempting, and hopefully my first win. I tried last year but I found out about it the day before so I decided to wing it. I wasn't doing too bad, that is, until my computer crashed. But this year I already have my story and have started outlining. I really can't wait. I hope to also use this thread a lot if I need help or suggestions.

I'm really looking forward to it. I've done it three times before and won it the last two times. Hopefully I'll get something really good done this year.

Like always, I've got nothing planned at all! biggrin

Largely just a malcontent, but a pleasantly smelling one.

I can't wait. This is my fourth year. I have won each year and I just can't wait. I have my idea and I can't wait to see how it turns out. I have been waiting for this thread.

I just noticed your not going to list all the people from Gaia who is going to join like in past years?

By the way my username is Ryokomayuka on Nanowrimo as well.
