He might not of put it in the right way, but he does have a good point. I recall when Harry Potter first came out the backlash from the far right, out of touch with reality Christian groups who were adamant the book encouraged children into witchcraft, despite the obvious mentions of Christmas and overall sort of acknowledgment of a greater purpose to things as well as a good reinterpretation of the Holocaust.
For the record, the original title of the first book was "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". When it was brought to America, the title was changed due to the fact that Christian fanatics were afraid that the Philosopher's Stone concept would lead their children to research the idealistic concept and main premise of Medieval Alchemical research. It was too close to occult devil worship to them. So they changed it to Sorcerer's Stone... I'm sure part of it was also confusion on their part over what "Philosopher" meant anyway. Sorcerer gives it up as a "Devilworshipping handbook" so parents could avoid it.
I thought they changed it from "philosopher" because "sorcerer" was a more well-known term in the US?
As for the actual topic... No, I don't really worry about that. I don't stray too far from the definition of a creature, my vampires still drink human blood and whatnot. With some things I make smaller changes but my rule is that they overall must still be recognized as the creature they are. Such as, I gave my harpies a more humanoid body shape. The bodies are shaped like human bodies, but completely covered in feathers with bird wings in place of arms and bird talons in place of feet and whatnot. I'm kind of going on and off on whether to give them an extra set of bird-like claws on the ends of their wings.
