In the last novella I wrote, I killed my character off by making a bolt of lightning hit an important piece of technology that the character was holding.

Whenever I kill a character it is either to promote the feelings of vengeance in my other characters (ex. A character gets shot and the other character's job is to find out who did it), as part of the vengeance of the other character, but mostly it is to prove a point. I'm writing a few short stories where my characters are close to suicide or do commit suicide because of their lifestyle choices not being accepted. My plan there is to promote tolerance of different religions/cultures/lifestyles.

Anyone else find it weird that these sorts of threads are often titled/worded in content with the apparent implication that you have only one character?

Yeah I'm afraid that at the time I made it I was thinking the people probably only kill off one or two characters per story. sweatdrop

Oh my god your signature makes me blush. >___<

Moving on. I like having them stabbed in terrible places. For normal death I go with a blade to the gut, for something cooler I go for torture, dagger in the throat or eyes. Drownings pretty fun to write too.

I think the best way and my favorite way to kill a character is the have another character kill them. Right now I'm working on a vampire horror story ( That I plan on publishing) and I'm thinking of killing one of the characters because at the moment their pretty useless to my plot. I might have my main character kill her or my main male/lover do it.

The thing I don't suggest character killing character for most romances, dramas, and comedies. Maybe a dark comedy though.

Anyone a fan of a character letting them self die?

For instance two warriors fight but when one warrior realized that their supposed enemy is related to their lover they stop blocking and let themselves be killed?

I think my favourite way of killing a character would be heroic sacrifice. Especially if the character has a tragic background and they feel like they really need to do something to make up for what had happened in the past.
Usually blunt force trauma, where they dont die immediately, so they have to be beaten continuously so that they will die. Blood splatters, painting the walls in red. biggrin

So far, I have had characters killed by: Rabid dog attacks, shot to the head, and major nueclear bomb wiping out an entire country.

Well, I think I enjoued writing the first one the most, because the last one was really horrible... That country was SO important.

I don't like to kill the characters that i love :'( I've only ever killed two characters.

My main character is going to die at the end of my novel cry I'm not exactly sure how. I want him to either be shot in the neck or in the right shoulder, severing an artery.

I had another character die way back in a fanfiction I wrote a year or two ago. I didn't feel bad though. He was a drunk, a gambler, and an abusive piece of s**t dad so I felt no remorse when I had him get beaten then stabbed to death in a casino.

Oh wait, I also killed the same guy in another fanfiction of the same series xd but since his drunk, gambling, abuse piece of s**t dad was is canon, I had his son get so fed up with his abuse (and rape but that part isn't canon) that he kills him himself 3nodding

He was all like "How does it feel to be powerless? I just want to play *stab, twist*"

I've planned to kill one of my character, she was accidentally shot by the central character's friend when she caught stealing.

By the way, my favorite way of killing is usually involves a firearm, or something that is shot.

I've only killed one person so far in my stories (Recently finished it and hoping to work on another soon). She was tortured. It was implied instead of actually written though.

I usually have a medieval fantasy setting, so it's usually by illness or battles. As long as it's sudden and gives the reader a heart attack.
