So, WF, we seem to be getting a lot of wrong forum topics lately. Well, we always do, but I've been off because this place tends to get annoying with having to sift through the chatspeak and such. D<

But, a lot of the topics lately have had "Don't Steal" in some form or another, which leads to my discussion.

Are we all really that arrogant, that we think that someone's going to come in and steal our ideas, or is it just the new big thing since the typewriter to say it?

Why do all these kids with half-assed ideas believe that anyone on here WANTS their ideas?

Other opinions you feel like bringing up? Rant posts are always nice.

I always smile when I see those threads. But its life, we are all scared of the next person "taking our ideas" and possibly making money off of it. Unfortunately, just saying that won't stop the people who intend to the steal ideas. Your best bet is not to post our entire story. A short paragraph would do.

When I see a topic that says "Don't steal my ideas," usually the ideas in it suck. But honestly, if someone is going to take your ideas, asking them not to probably isn't going to do any good.

LeeEyeLa is posting less, because SCHOOL. <3

It helps that whatever I post on Gaia is actually part fanfiction, so if somebody tried to steal Thing-Thing/One Fifty-Four for example, they'd get in trouble with not just me, but Weasel and Diseased Productions.

I do safeguard a few ideas, though. Like I have one short story idea in utero that I really do think is so awesome and creative that I don't want anybody else to steal. Maybe I'm just being an egostistical brat, but that's what I think.

Because like, it's like their totally personal idea that took them like years to think about and obvi it's a good idea cause so many of their cool friends==like Melissa who's like so good at arts and junk--said it was a good idea when they told them about it in study hall. I mean, like, if you don't know that it came from their SOULS, deep deep down where they feel things--cause ya know life is sad--then you don't know anything about them. So there.

Married men live longer.

Doctor of Poetic Harmony: I just find it funny how people post their ideas, and are still asking for them not to get stolen. Bit of a 'could've had a v8' moment.

LeeEyeLa: I would think it would make them want to do it more. As kind of a defiant gesture.

Workplace Boredom: I've known of a fanfic that got stolen once, and someone posted it up on a different site. But, the readers were all pretty loyal and told the author, who got it removed. And yeah, I safeguard mine, too. I'll give summaries for named works I'm doing, but if anyone ever actually wanted the idea, it's not like it would turn out the same.

Jaiden': That was beautiful.

I blame the fact that our forum was moved up near the top of the list. For real. It happened today and all of a sudden, we just had an influx of crap.

Maybe it's from them (What the hell am I saying, I'm part of them) being from the "you are a special unique snowflake" generation.

Don't feel like formatting my post.

Generation V?

It's my name for kids born in the 90's, spec. early 90's, that usually end up becoming slave to the internet, cellphones and other such devices. Hence, Generation V, the Virtual Generation.

After my eyes stopped exploding from the burst of color, I saw that. Had me worried.

Ah yes, us special snowflakes. A good reason why it'd be nice to not have to go into 10th grade in September. Especially since the 9th graders will all be brats, I'm sure.

Workplace Boredom: I like that name. Seems sophisticated and I could pretend it was a Roman Numeral.

Okay, that's it, all the intelligent Gen. V kids are using a Roman numeral, and everyone else gets the letter. Because we are special snowflakes. [/hypocrisy] xD

Oh, sophomore year's not that bad.

Our 9th graders will apparently be horrendous though. But they'll be in 'academies' and separated from the rest of us. Because apparently, my school likes to spice things up.

And then their ideas are usually stolen from various other stories and mashed together haphazardly, so it's not like the ideas they're so protective of are their own, anyway.

But then, I see art thieves do that too. "DUN STEEL MAI DRAWLINGZ GAIS"
Maybe it's just guilt?

Mine is an EVIL laugh!

I have a DeviantART gallery. EvilFTW is a story about supervillains that comes in webstory and webcomic flavors.

I enjoy cartoons, video games and world domination.
"DONT STEAL MY IDEEAAS" = brings attention, asking for it to be stolen, and it's a bad move.
Yet, while I do mostly doubt people here would steal ideas from someone, it sure is possible.
And it's not bad to be cautious and afraid about that, it's just that they shouldn't post it here in the first place if they're that cautious and afraid. confused Or at least don't even mention "plz dont steal my ideas."
But I guess people just want their work to be read.

Oh, that's what happened in my freshmen year.

All of us freshmen were tucked away in the back of the building, cut off from the rest of society.

Project 154 is 10676 words long. Yell if it's not progressing.http://i37.tinypic.com/29maekz.jpg
Because I am hard, you will not like me, but the more you hate me, the more you will learn. I am hard, but I am fair.
No one likes freshmen (as a whole). When you're a freshman, you don't really see why. But then you become a sophomore and you're like, "Eh...I get it now."

Technically, I think we're in Gen Y?
