Well, it is literally an cliche ending for the characters themselves. Since it is "The End" because everyone dies, and then the world is reset or something like magic and that's where I start telling the tale.

The fun thing about writing is that if you have to ask "can I start something in a weird way" the question really should become "why not write something weird and unique." I like the idea you have and I think that if done well it would turn out amazing.
