Has anyone tried drawing people in photoshop??

If so the how did it go and are there any techniques you would recommend?

Also if I could see what you've done that would be awesome but that isn't vital if you don't want to post your art on gaia.

First of all, PM a Mod to move this to the AD.

Second of all, lurk moar in the Picture Post. Lots of people in there draw humans using Photoshop or a similar program.

Yeah, there are tons of people who draw people in photoshop. I've done a couple of actual people using reference pictures and the colordropper tool (that was before I learned to mix to my own skin tones together. Here's one example. and here's the other.

I've also tried drawing characters I've created--that's a little harder than having a reference photo because you're relying on transferring your imagination onto "paper". This is the latest one I've done like that. Obviously its not as realistic--I am still learning and, like I mentioned, no reference photo does make it harder.

What sort of advice are you looking for (like coloring techniques, making skin tones, proportions etc.)? Also I'll need to know if you have a tablet or not--my advice will be different depending on your answer =3

I'm looking for advice on colouring and shading and also skin tones, unfortunately I don't have a tablet yet, I'm hoping to get one but I don't have the money so it will be a while before that happens.

^^ Thank you for the compliment. XD Its taken me a long time to get this far and its really nice to hear that my work is paying off.

Mkay. Hmmm. Haha explaining without visuals is not easy...sooo XD what I'm gonna do is make a tutorial for ya. My tablet died almost a week ago so it'll be designed for a mouse user. Give me a little time to make it--my stuff is rarely finished in one night (my best stuff comes to me at night) and I'm reeeaally out of my comfort zone using a mouse so I'm not exactly sure when I'll get it done. I'll try to finish it soon for ya though =3

Edit--I'll probably be a bit of a cheater and use the line art I have for the Halloween-themed girl I posted for you. ^_^; not sure though.

Actually...=D YES! I feel quite accomplished right now. -Insert happy dance here- Get ready for some links! Its a two part tutorial but I'm also gonna send links of other tutorials and artists I learned some of this from. Or anything I didn't cover--like eyelashes XD I sort of forgot about them... sweatdrop

Basic Photoshop Tutorial - A tutorial I did in 07. My techniques have changed since then but its got a few things on brushes (and settings like opacity and flow) that might be worth looking at. Unfortunately I had my tablet when I made it so: A) You have to suffer through my crappy hand writing XD and B) there are a few things in there a mouse user would find useless (like pressure sensitive-ness)

Skin Palettes This was the mini-tutorial that really helped me create my own skin tones. I've looked to this artist for inspiration for years so a lot of what I've learned came from her. Her deviant art page is here her artblog (which she updates more frequently is here and if you're interested in watching her paint stuffs check out the On Demand feature here =3 I recommend the Sleeping Beauty one.

I must say that that looks awesome smile I will let you know if it helps but I'm pretty sure it will and I'm now going to go and play in photoshop hehe xd
