and even MORE finished version is in my dA (click siggy) with its planned background and all.

And yes, I know, my art looks so ugly while in the middle of progressing! XD But it looks better in the end!
Hmmm...

Maybe try defining the edges a little more to make the head and body stand out from the background better.

Also, the chin seems to have a strange off-centered point somehow that doesn't really fit the angle of the face.

Overall, I really like the detail in the hair and face so far. smile
thank you very much!

i shall try and fix that
heart Its great! heart
wow i could never do that.. i wish i could and yea the shouders are fine to me
thank you very much!

but now i changed the WIP.
added another new WIP.
old WIP is finished.
You have quite solid line work and shadow theory it seems. The only thing I could add for the hair is to make it a little more defined? Less smudgy around the ends of the hair, more... line like. Get to know your 1pnt brush really well (or an appropriately sized equivalent xD). This'll sound odd, but also the sharpening tools can totally be your friend when it comes to hair xD. What program are you using to color this? I'm sure you can get some more specific help, instruction, and tutorials if we know what program you prefer biggrin
oh thanks for your input! biggrin i will work on the hair!
and i'm using photoshop 7 for this!
no problem... Lesse, photoshop 7. Been awhile since I used that one, but most of the basics are gonna be the same. Also, something I noticed about your skin, is you seem to only have shades of creams, beiges, browns, and white. Try mixing up your shading colors, I always get freaking with subtle reds and purples and greys, as well as the warm neutrals that most people think of when it comes to doing skin. It adds a lot of depth. I always start my skin on a Multiply layer, and then build the base and the basic shadows on that layer. Then I create a normal layer on top of that Multiply layer and do my highlighting and deepest shadows on the new aforementioned normal layer.

I don't know if that makes sense at all? If not, I think there's a tutorial floating around somewhere that's very similar to how I do my skin work.

Also, on the photoshop website (I don't know the url >>...) there should be a webforum there that is "How to do _____ effect". There's things like wood grains, magic circles, ect., and there used to be a fur tutorial there aaages ago that is a good starting point for hair. If you're interested in wading through hundreds of tutorials it's a pretty good resource, but like I said there are a lot of them, and not all of them will work for what you want to do ^^

((I just looked again at the picture, and it seems there's some red and blue shades in there I missed. So my advice would be to amp up those alternative shades a little bit, but I guess that may be an opinion based thing))
thank you very much again! i'll search for those tutorials! :3
i've actually been using a dark rose-grey color but on a 30 - 40% opacity level a lot.
updated with a new pic
lol it's not much change though
;w; oh thank you!
