Hey, look, first customer! (I think...)

My Elfwood corner is here.... Plus a few more: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. 8 is my most recent, and is such crappy quality because my dad's scanner now hates me.

Hello there~ How are you doing today?
Lemme see~
Your drawing is not bad~ So what area do you feel you are struggling with? What do you think it's your killing weakness in your work?
This interviewed is only done for the reason of better service. wink

To be honest, a lot of it is just not knowing what to draw, mingled with inherent frustration because I have a tendency to not like what I draw, even if most people enjoy it and say that it's good. (And these are the drawings that aren't... "controversial." wink I have symptoms of every syndrome you've listed in your fourth post. I'm also trying to break away from only drawing anime; I LIKE drawing anime, and I'm working on that, but not only do I want to work on realism and other stuff, I'm kind of required to if I want to get into the school of arts at my college next year.

I have a LOT of trouble with hands and feet. I also try to incorporate elements from my favorite manga/anime artists in some of my works, but it never ends up the way I want it to.

You are welcome. I have seen many people struggled with that, including myself. :3 It's good to share what I know if it can help others to revaluate themselves more honestly.

Nobuhiro Watsuki (Rurouni Kenshin), Aihara Miki (Hot Gimmick -- BIG influence!), and now I'm thinking of adding some elements from Takaya Natsuki's work (Fruits Basket).
Hmmm...I think I'm doing something wrong, but I can't put my fingure on it.

Hmmmm... So far I don't see too strong of an influence of these artist's work in your work yet.
What method do you use for studying the artists' work? Do you copy or just eyeing over it?

You are quite good.
OK... if you want to change for the better, I can tell you a few things:

1. Clothing folds: you have some form of ideas about how clothing falls on the person, but you don't really know how the folds form. Find out for yourself: http://www.polykarbon.com/tutorials/clothes/clothes1.htm

2. Perspective: The wrench is not really perspectively correct, check out mechanical drawing tutorials and practice more in that area to help yourself.

3. Anatomy: The muscle you illustrated is more of a shape without the understanding of how muscle wrapp around our bones and our body, you can take a few books on anatomy, copy the pictures as close as possible, and remember where each major muscle is.

Mostly eyeing over it. The Hot Gimmick stuff, I've been trying to get the eyes and the noses (which are more evident in profiles, and I don't have those up >_>;; wink
Melan Blue:

I have some suggestions for you:

1. References: I think you need to work with your references more closely, don't be afraid to be accused of stealing or copying, copying is a way to learn.

I can design some assignments for you to reach your goal of adopting other artist's styles and come up with your own.

After you have mastered copying the manga, which majorly is lines and seeing the differences of lines... you can move to copying photograph, that should help you in developing your observations.

At the same time, I can also assign still life assignments for you to practice with.
