trulyblue wins 5K contest! 1/12/09 (I'm going to start dating these Announcements) It's about time I made up my own contest, eh? Very simple. First poster on page 5000 gets 5K. Of course, the post has to be correct combination, based on the current game. What I'm saying is that I'm not asking you to calculate the combination we should be on, disregarding all the mistakes we've done. Then again, who would go through all that trouble to obtain a measly 5K? Oy, guys. I've seen how frequent mistakes have been made and the varying degrees of damage they've done. Fixing them is quite a confusing task. "Should we go back to where the error was made, count how many posts have been made, and determine where we should be? Or should we just begin from the combination that should have been posted instead of the first error?" Do y'all get my drift? Well, just to set some standard, I've decided to set it to the second question, just to save you all the trouble of doing calculations and the such. So, for example, if "R,UNT" was posted instead of "U,RNT," and fifty posts have been made based on "R,UNT," merely post "U,RNT," instead of calculating which combination should be made. HOWEVER, this applies only to major mistakes that spans at least a page. Simple swooshes should be neglected. Capisce? Because of a severe violation of a rule of the game by a certain individual, I have decided to reset the game to "C,JLN." A certain individual took it upon herself to post successively, not once, or twice, but...many times. I appreciate everyone's endeavors in stopping her posting mania. If this happens again, I ask the players to ignore the violator and carry on with the game, disregarding the successive posts of the violator. (Start from his or her first post and continue from there.) When he or she decides to cooperate, then you may include him or her in the game again. Sort of like elementary school, eh? If we are going to break the rules, then we may be forced to revert to such childish ways. Thanks to all who put their efforts into preventing the thread from becoming a heap of chaos and confusion! I really appreciate it since I'm not always present. Thank you! REMINDER The last thing we want to happen in this thread is for everyone to become confused by wrong combinations. Please, everyone, double-check your posts and see if your combo is the right one. It takes a few seconds to check if yours follow the previous one. After Z, we start at AA, then AB, then AC, then AD, and so forth Then, after AZ, we go to BA, BB, BC, BD, BE, and so forth. We keep on doing this until we get to ZZ. Interesting Fact: (Though I haven't really checked its validity) Rainbow Phoenix According to my math, for the 1,000g prize for the post "P,EDO," you would need to be poster number 284,715. For the prize of 5,000g for the post "PWN,AGE," you would need to be poster number 200,859,391. And to finish this whole place off with "ZZZ,ZZZ," a total of 321,272,406 posts would have to be made! That's somewhere on the 21,418,160th page! Czarny confirms it with calculations! Czarny The number of post (in noone screws up) should be 26^6+26^5+26^4+26^3+26^2+26=321,272,406 That's exactly the sixth post on page 21,418,160 ( 321,272,406/15=21,418,160.4=21,418,160+4/10; 4/10=6/15). Another interesting tidbit. ninja_otter based on the current rate of posting, it has taken just about 2 years to make 2100 pages.
