*Tugs on Unknown's dress* Can I get another flu-
NO. You already brought home one, we don't need another.
Oh c'mon! Pleeeaasse? They're victims of EB's attack!
Even if you bribed me the answer would still be 'no'. I swear, you act like a child sometimes. And, that's bad considering you're the oldest.
*Small chuckle* Heh. Child.
Of course you would get a kick out of that comment...

Welcome to my summer's anon thank you thread! This thread here is where I'll be posting my letters/messages. They'll all come with replies, no matter what! Could be as my characters or just me. It depends, really. Oh, and if it's me... expect gifs.

This may be a thank you thread but conversations/chatting is also welcomed here too. We can even play Go Fish if you feel like it!

Message:
This was a stupid idea. You knew it, yet here you were, staring up at the looming house that was cast into deep shadow by the dying sun that was hidden behind it. This was trespassing and you knew it. Your cousins knew it too, and even though this house was slightly secluded by the large towering bushes that reached up to ten feet, you felt as if you were being watched. Behind you, your cousins (plus a few friends from the neighborhood) muffled laughs and gave you some words of encouragement. They were watching you, but it was something else that was making the hair on your skin rise. Maybe it was the uneasy feeling you were getting when you looked through the window of the house and into the darkness inside. The black abyss seemed to stare right back at you. That was impossible, of course. According to your cousins, the house had been abandoned for over twenty years and not a soul lived in there now. Perhaps a few rats, but really nothing else.

Hesitantly, you walked closer to the house. The old peeling white paint on the house curled towards you and the wood boards were warped from weather. The door was tilted, slightly unhinged, but still managed to hang on despite the passage of time.

"Remember, you have to stay in the middle of the house for twenty minutes!"

You turned, hearing the words, and nodded. Yeah you knew what you had to do. It was a ridiculous dare from a ridiculous game. Truth or Dare. Why the heck had you chosen Dare? Then again, in your defense, you had not known that your cousins lived in a neighborhood with a convenient creepy, abandoned house just a few minutes away. Apparently this was a dare used often because your cousins and their friends seemed to have sneaking out to an art. Not too mention the rules were highly specific.

You glared at the splotchy doorknob as if it were the cause of this mess. Being angry was a lot easier than admitting you were nervous. Nervous not only because there was a chance you could get into some serious trouble with the authorities, but also because this house was freaking creepy. Everything about it was demented and dead. Even the yard was a sickly yellow and the dark brown tree was bare of any leaves. Its gnarled branches seemed to reach out as if for help. This yard was a sharp contrast to the emerald grassy lawns with blooming trees in front of the other houses in the neighborhood.

This was a stupid idea. The thought kept circling in your mind. However, you had chosen Dare and so you had to do it.

The splotchy doorknob was cold against your touch, which slightly surprised you; The night was a rather warm one. With a small twist of your wrist, you were disappointed to find that it turned easily. The door creaked as it swung inward and a void of darkness greeted you. You had thought that maybe the door would be locked and you could get out of the Dare. You chided yourself for the thought. Your cousins wouldn't have given you this dare if they knew you couldn't get inside the house to begin with.

Behind you, the group cheered you onward and some taunted you to not be a chicken. Swallowing, you lifted your chin, pulled your shoulders back, and walked into the house.

Inside the house, it was significantly cooler than the outside realm. Shadows stretched and curled around you. The dying sun shot golden rays of light through the cracks in the walls and through some of the windows. It made the house an alternating domain of thick shadow and dim light. The floorboards creaked underfoot as you made your way deeper into the house. Your foot kicked against something hard causing you to frantically swing your arms for a few seconds as you tried to maintain your balance. A painful throb engulfed your foot and you muttered a small curse. You had walked right into a piece of broken furniture. Squinting in the dark, you moved more carefully through the house. Broken beer bottles and their aluminum counterparts were everywhere in a room to your right. It looked like most of the furniture was put into a circle and graffiti marked the walls. This house was probably a party spot on the weekends.

You passed the room and came to the bottom of a stairway at the end of the hall. Further down the way was a window that gave you some more light to see. Glancing around, you figured this to be a good spot to wait the twenty minutes. You pulled out your cell phone to check the time. The soft glow told you that you had about seventeen minutes to go. Your phone chirped and a flashing red bar blinked on the screen. Then the phone went silent and the screen flickered to black. You frowned as you stared at the dead phone in your hand. You could have sworn you charged it earlier that day.

A light creak made you look up. A chill went through you, so deep that your entire body shuddered and goose bumps rippled across your skin. Again, the sound of creaking floorboards moaned through the house.

Your throat went dry as you stared into the darkness down one of the hallways, "Hello?"

Silence answered you. Unease crept through you and your heart pounded in your chest. You shivered in the coldness. Above you, dust floated down from the ceiling as the floorboards shifted and moaned. You could hear footsteps above.

This had to be the work of your cousins. They were screwing around with you. The footsteps continued as they passed above you and you turned your eyes to the top of the stairs. It was like staring into a black wall. None of the sun's light seemed to reach the upper banister. But even then, you could barely make out something...A darker shade in that blackness. The dark form of a figure moving closer to the top step. You backed away, afraid of looking away from whatever was at the top of those stairs. There was a weight in the air and you knew with sudden certainty that whatever was up there was staring down at you. Watching.

Something tumbled down the stairs, clacking loudly with every hit. You backed away quickly until a wall stopped you. You flinched slightly as you watched the small object continue its descent. It finally hit the ground floor and the noise stopped. The house was absorbed into silence once more. Your breath was shaky as stared downward at the object that had fallen. It was a small toy car that was rusted away from time and dented from the fall. Some how, it had managed to land on its wheels. The wheels wobbled as the toy car rolled forward, towards you...

A bang on the window nearby made you jump a mile high and a silent shriek escaped from your lips. You heard laughter outside and saw a pale hand bang on the window once more.

"They are so dead!" You muttered angrily as you realized it was your cousins.

Your hand went to your heart as you tried to control your ragged breathing. Despite the coldness, your skin was clammy. Annoyed, you began to make your way to the entrance of the house. Again there was laughter, low and rich as it spread from the heart of the house. You crossed your arms to hide your trembling hands and you turned to look at the stairway. The toy car was not moving now. It had somehow managed to turn and face you. It stared at you silently. Its shadow a long line across the floor. You shuddered and hurried to the entrance.

Outside, the group was laughing, near breathless. The warm air plus your anger brought the life back into your shuddering body.

"Hey, you still have one minute to go!" One person said.

Another added, "Did you have a fun time inside?"

You glared at them, "Who was messing around with me inside the house?" Whoever it was, was so going to die.

There was some laughter, "Relax," one of your cousins began, "It was just a little pounding on the window."

You shook your head angrily, "No. I'm talking about inside on the second story! Who was inside the house with me?" You eyed them all suspiciously, but were only given puzzled stares.

Your cousin frowned, "Uh, none of us went inside the house. You were in there by yourself the entire time..."

--- Phantom Anon

"Wh-What? You're joking, right?" the child said, stuttering. As the others confirmed their words again, the girl looked back at the abandoned house. A shiver took off down her spine as panic grew in her voice. "Th-Then, what I heard-" With her imagination running wild, one thought kept coming back. With that alone, she grew frightened even just being near the house. Not wanting to be there any longer, she hurried past the group alone and ran as fast as she could back home.

(( I COULDN'T THINK OF AN ENDING! *facedesks* Curse my lack of thought... This made me think as something she would do around her younger age. Like, eightish/nineish. Or, times she would escape her house. Thank you for the message, Phantom! <3 ))

Message: Oh the peaceful isle de gambino. Such a peaceful place during the summer. That is, until now. Everything seems fine now. Your fellow gaians are galavanting around the island with those adorable little fluffs. You may even have one of your own. All is well as far as you know.

You find yourself near an alleyway when a sound catches your attention. It definitely doesn't sound like the cutesy tones of the fluffs. This sound is more of a sloshing or liquid sound. You walk down the alley and see a box on what looks like a brand new matress. You decide to throw away your suspicions on why a matress is in a dirty alley and staying clean and reach for the box. Upon grabbing the box you see a note. "The cute things are the most dangerous. You'll need this where you're going." The ominous note distracts you from the matress splitting into its true components. A gang of vagabond fluffs. They overwhelm you and you fall unconscious.

When you wake you see a blue slime with what looks like a sheep's pelt on it. You back away in fear when a devilishly handsome man comes and calls the slime back. He tosses the box back to you. The man and the slime leave.
~ a slime in fluff's clothing

Kate rubbed her head as the man and slime left. She last recalled being unexpectedly attacked by a group of fluffs. "No idea what just happened," she said, bringing herself back to her feet. The mage dusted off her uniform and looked back at where the two had disappeared to. "Did they save me or just found me laying around here?" One thing for sure, she needed to get out of that alley in case those fluffs returned. Taking a quick look around her surroundings, she made her way back to the streets before anything else could happen.

You're playing with your new fluff companion as the summer event kicks off. You're running along the Barton Cliffs when you feel the edge crumble from under your feet, sending you tumbling into the waves below. You try to fight to the surface, but the fall has left you disorientated and the waves keep spinning you round and round as your lungs scream for air. Your vision grows dark as you start losing your struggle, your oxygen deprived mind barely registering what feels like an icy arm wrapping around you and pulling you...

You suddenly wake up, coughing up sea water and replacing it with air in an unpleasant experience. You look around groggily, trying to see who had saved you, if anyone, and see a hazy figure vanish behind a jut in the cliffs. "W-wait! Who are you?", you call out, but only the sound of waves answers you. You try to stand, only to be knocked over by your fluff who seems to be holding a box with a note...

You'll find me down by the sea,
I no longer live, I cannot breathe,
Just a simple spirit lost without memory.

How did I come to be, I cannot see,
I drowned the day I the turned eighteen,
Wandering lost down by the sea.

-Lonely Poet

The little Pegafluff knocked its master back to the ground. "Fluffykins, what was that-" She paused upon seeing a gift box next to the creature. Did whoever save him leave this? Kate thought, upon noticing the note that was tucked inside the bow. She carefully read the message and was rather surprised by what she had read. "No long alive?" The mage brought herself to her feet and looked around for someone or something. It was only just her fluff and herself. "So, a spirit saved me?"

It had seemed that was happening to her lately. A spirit emerging and saving her from some sort of fate or death. Not too long ago was the last incident. Whether it was an actual spirit or not this time, she did not know. She could only go with the facts on the piece of paper. There was not much she could do.

"Wish they were around so I could thank them properly." Fluffykins flapped its tiny wings as if trying to get its master's attention. Kate chuckled and lifted the little fluff up. "We may wanna hurry along. This time, avoid the cliffs."

(( Thank you for the message, Lonely Poet! ))

Message: You are walking along the beach with your newly adopted Fluff when you begin to hear the sound of someone singing & playing a guitar. Picking up your fluff, you follow the sound. You find a young man with locks the color of chestnut sitting on the very end of the pier with a fluff on his head. You watch him for a few minutes as he creates an enjoyable melody. Your own fluff bobs to the music. When he finally stops he notices you & you see his ethereal teal eyes that glow faintly. He jumps up in surprise his own fluff falling off his head. He turns his attention to his pet, scooping it up & asking if it is alright. ''W-Were you listening?'' he asks. You nod, which causes him to blush & look away. ''My fluff likes music so... I-I was making it hap-happy.'' He mumbles embarrassedly. You laugh & compliment his playing which causes him to blush. You turn to watch the waves for a moment & when you look up the young man is gone. However your fluff jumps from your arms & hops to a gift in the sand. It is addressed to you & the tag reads ''I may not be able to fix my own heart, but I will fix yours.''

~Arron the Lythcol Mechanic

She laughed upon seeing the mechanic's reaction. "It was fine! Even my fluff enjoyed it," the mage said as Fluffykins flapped its tiny wings trying to signal as if it agreed. The waves coming from the ocean caught the little creature's attention. It moved around in her arms as if trying to get a better view. "Hm?" Kate looked at the Pegafluff and towards the direction it was staring into. "Ah, I see. I see you like the waves, Fluff. The ocean is truly a beautiful sight to see." She turned to face Arron but it was too late. He had already left. "Disappeared again??" A sigh left her lips. "Seems to always do that whenever I look away." Fluffykins jumped out of her arms and hopped its way over to a gift box that was left on the shore's sand. "And, also left a gift behind. He's such a silly mechanic." The fluff flapped its wings and flew to the top of her head as she lifted the box from the sand.

Summer is here and so is the event! Fluffs are running rampant through Gaian streets! You're minding your own business and walking your fluff when another fluff knocks you over and steals your fluff treats. You yell at it to come back and give chase, dodging through the crowds until you come to a quieter part of town. You see the fluff dart into a building and follow it, hesitating a moment when you hear someone playing a piano somewhere in the building. Your fluff nudges you to keep going and retrieve it's treats, and you do so. You check each room you come across, but there's no sign of the rogue fluff until you peek into the room the music is coming from. The fluff is sitting behind the pianist, happily eating your treats and you lunge for it. The fluff darts under the piano and makes aggravated fluff noises at you, drawing the pianists attention. She looks under the piano then back at you, silent laughter filling green eyes as she connects the dots of what happened. "Sorry, Kate.", Falinn says, handing you the remains of the treats, "Should have known better to stop paying attention to the little guy when that Blaze person said his name was Trouble." The thief digs around in her pockets and pulls out some cash, "Hope that's enough for some more treats for yours." She shoves the wad of cash into your hands and vanishes through a portal with Trouble before you can give what was obviously several hundred more than needed for treats back.

"The little guy's name is Trouble?" She looked back at the fluff as Fluffykins decided to produces the same noise back at it. The Pegafluff didn't take too kindly to its treats being stolen from it. "That's making sense now." Kate kindly asked her fluff to stop. With a pout on its face, it flew to the top of her head. Falinn handed her a larger sum of money than she actually paid for with the treats. Puzzled by this, the mage was about to say something but it was too late. The two had disappeared into a portal. "But..," she said, looking at the money in her hands. "You gave me way too much, Falinn!"

Message: As you're caring for your adorable fluff, you see that someone doesn't look all that thrilled at the prospect: a blue furry creature that keeps kicking away a little fluff whenever it gets close to him. You walk up to him and tell him that's no way to treat a fluff and he scoffs.

"You think fluffs are cute and adorable, huh? WRONG." He puts his snout up to your face, giving you a very serious look as he continues his rant.

"They're out to murder us all in our sleep! They're Animated, for crying out loud! And the only true way to deal with fluffs is with a good Slash ring."

He sees the look of horror on your face as you clutch your fluff in your arms, and shakes his head. "Trust me, the fluffs will be in a better place. THE VOIDS OF NONEXISTENCE. Now stand back, it's time to do some fluff stomping~"

He then cracks knuckles in a slightly menacing fashion and runs off, leaving a ring box next to you with a note that reads:

-Mister Monster Guy

The Pegafluff, frightened by his words, shook in the mage's arms. She tried to calm it down as much as she could. As the same time, she was angered by her blue friend's words. "Hey! Wait up, you big jerk!" she shouted, trying to chase after him.

Glowing brightly, like a lunar wild fire,

A gust blows and gentle chimes are heard;
The sweet melody of the majestic flowers.
Bittersweet thorns and melancholy leaves
Sway as if dancing in the striking moonlight.
'Tis the song heard in the field of the Twilight Rose.

Message: The night air was brisk as you walked down the street. Being out alone at this late hour was never ideal, especially in such a big city, but what could you do? Work needed you to close, and you needed the hours. Sighing, you kept your pace quick and gaze straight, not wanting to attract any unwanted attention. A muffled chuckle and a flash of color caught your attention, though, and as you looked up, you couldn't help but feel your stomach drop. A group of people, dressed almost entirely in black, stood in front of you, leaning against a wall. The strangest thing about them, though, was where the color that caught your attention came from. Each figure had on an ornate animal mask, each a brilliant color. Stopping in your tracks, you debate over whether to just keep walking or to cross the street. Before you could decide, one of the figures breaks away from the group. The girl in front of you was petite, at least six inches shorter than you were, and extremely thin. A soft voice came from behind the bright red goat mask she were wearing, addressing you. "Hello stranger... a gift for a sweet woman." She handed you a yellow box, tied with a red ribbon, before giggling softly and skipping away to the group again. Eyeing the package, you quickly went back to walking, muttering a thank you as you passed. You didn't open it until you got home, but before doing so, you read the small note attached to the ribbon.
"For the lonely woman,
perhaps walking alone at night isn't the best idea? You never know what you might meet out there. Take this gift as a warning.
Sincerely, Ilsa of the Deadly Dozen"

She sighed upon reading the note. "I had no choice. Besides, I can take care of myself." Kate knew the girl wouldn't hear her reply but it was better than never answering at all. Although, she was curious about the group she was a part of. Why did they each wear a different animal masks? "At least they didn't attack, I guess."

Message: Vicky lay on the bed, warm under the covers as her father sat on the edge. He ran his hand across his head, smoothing the last bits of hair that clung there, as he prepared to tell her a story. Daddy always had the best stories, stories that came from his own mind and not the colorful storybooks Mommy read from.

The stories were about far off lands, where fairies fought acorn monsters and princes and princesses went on adventures in mazes made out of crystal. They were all great stories and Vicky couldn&t wait for tonight&s tale.

&This story&s going to be a little different,& Daddy said to her, as he placed his hands in his lap. She looked up at his face and noticed it looked different, but she didn&t quite know why. His smile looked&& crooked somehow. Vicky shrugged. Maybe he ate something that made his tummy upset.

&That&s okay Daddy,& Vicky said. &I love all your stories.&

Daddy smiled his new crooked smiled and began, keeping his hands in his lap instead of waving them around like he usually did during story time. His voice grew deeper, instead of lighter and slightly silly, like it did when he had told her stories on previous nights. The voice filled her mind and the story became almost like a movie, with images that danced on the edges of her eyes, crisp and clear.

&There once was a dragon who had an odd breath. While other dragons breathed fire, he breathed fear. It came out of his mouth like a thick black beam, that wrapped around his victims and filled their minds and souls with the fears of all the people the dragon had ever killed.

And the dragon had killed thousands. Each new victim became one more fear to add it its breath, one more piece of food to digest for eternity and regurgitate into stronger venom.&

Daddy&s mouth opened and a thick spray of black came out, wrapping itself around her head. She screamed and the stinging smoke filled her mouth, gagging her with a bitter chill, the same chill she felt when her parents forgot to turn her nightlight on. But this chill was deeper, thicker than anything she&d ever felt before. It went into her bones and drew all the heat from her body and soul, until she felt nothing but the screams of thousands of voices.

&The dragon especially loved children,& a voice said from somewhere through the screams. &But not for their fears. The dragon could hide in a child for years, feeding and feasting to his heart&s content. All he had to do was take on the shape of someone the child trusted. Children were such easy prey and once the dragon finished feasting on them, he had a new body that would last for years.&

Message: You are at the park, playing with your pet fluff. Â&Your fluff stops for a moment and it bounces towards a tree. Â&It bounces back to you, with a rose in its mouth. Â&Your fluff's eyes grow heavy and it falls asleep, dropping the rose. Â&When you picked up the rose, you notice a goldish liquid leaking from the bite marks.

The tree's leaves suddenly rustle as a man with longish black hair and copper skin drops down. Â&He wears a pair of black overalls, black work boots, a black workshirt, black gloves with padded sleeves, a red patterned bandana on his neck, and a black eye mask with white eyes. Â&The man glares at you as he gets up from the impact. Â&He sprints without hesitation and snags your fluff. Â&He leaps onto the wall, climbs it like a panicked cat, and slides down on the other side to escape. Â&You ran out the park's exit and to where that thief landed. Â&A small sack was found at the site. Â&You decided to take it before a cop ran to you.

"Hey you!" Â&He shouts.

You face the cop.

"That perpetrator was the Rose Thief. Â&He has been stealing fluffs from many people and I see that he has taken your's. Â&Don't worry; Â&We'll get him." Â&He tips his hat to you and walked towards his police car. Â&You open the sack and took the item out.

Picking a random direction, she hurried down the path until it came to even more choices in direction. She didn't know how to track the man. Not even her magically abilities could help her. Message: You sigh softly as you walk down the street, headed out simply for a walk to clear your head and enjoy the day. The sun is high, though clouds block the rays just slightly and give the afternoon a nearly cooling effect even if it was just slight. It was strange, the want to go for a walk at the height of the day when the heat was normally unbearable, but even still you felt the need. Just like you were finding yourself drawn towards an area were a path weaved its way through trees near a park, instead of following the paved path many usually took.

Deciding to be adventurous, you cut through and head down the path, the trees blocking even more of the sun and cooling the area off even more. It was wondrous and pleasant, your mind clear and the air refreshing as you continued your journey. But something soon seems off, the small hairs on the back of your neck stand straight up as the sensation of being watched washes over you, dousing you in a cold sweat. Did it just get darker? Why is the air so cold all of a sudden? A shiver runs down your spine as you look around, trying to find the source of the uneasy feeling. For a moment you see a flash of bright blue in the shadows of the trees, glowing like a flame in the dark before it vanished. A soft whisper of sound courses around you, you turn to find the sound and with each motion your eyes find just a glimmer of blue flames once more. Panic starts to fill your mind as you start to walk once more, your pace faster than before as sweat beads up on your skin and falls, drenching your face as if you were running a marathon.

Though you run, the scenery doesn&t seem to change, the trees just continue and get denser. Was this path always so long? Where had the forest come from when before it had been just a park? It didn&t make sense and everything was freaking you out as you ran out of breath. You collapse to the dirt floor, gasping for air as the chill of being watched gets stronger. The shadows of the trees seem to elongate and engulf you in darkness as your heart races, your eyes shut as whispers of voices fill your ears. Panic still eating at your heart as you move your hands to cover your ears to block out the sounds. It didn&t make sense, nothing made sense! Why were you so freaked out, where were the voices coming from? The air grew colder still, a sickening sensations washes over you as you nearly feel faint. A foul smell engulfs the air around you as long limb like shadows crawl towards you on the ground, lights of green and red start to lurk in the trees once as the sight of eyes watch you .

&stop&&. No&&Go away&&.& You whimper slightly, your ears still covered by your hands as you cower on the ground, fear wracking your body in violent shakes, the darkness getting denser and the eyes growing closer to you&&.. till a soft whistle filled the air.

You look up, startled, as the sound seems to cause a similar reaction to the shadow creatures who had been honing onto you. The nearly demonic eyes widening in fear and the elongated shadows receding away from you as the sound gets louder and closer, though instead of fear the sound causes you to calm down and relax. A soft blue light soon followed the sound, embracing you in a cooling sensation as your heart starts to beat at a normal pace, your ears picking up the whistling and a soft calming voice instead of the ones that caused you fear.

&You&re alright now&&. They won&t come after you&&. Not now&&But you should have not come into the Spirit Forest without some kind of protection from the evil ones&&& a soft voice speaks to you, quite obvious of female origin as a hand places itself on your back. &You should go now&&. Before the Veil closes up once more and leaves you trapped here till the next time it grows weak&&. Stand up&&.And walk&& the forest will guide you&&.& The voice draws distant, though you listen and stand, no longer petrified by fear as you begin to walk. &Don&t look back&& not till you are out of the forest&&. Don&t look back till you are safe&&.& The voice grows distant, though always there as you walk, encouraging you all the while.

After a few moments you see the clearing, the sky once again bright and hot like it had been before you had taken the path. You smile happily as you nearly run the last ten steps and find yourself back at the park near your home, your house in sight. Only then did you dare turn around and look into the covered trees, where for just a moment you saw a large black cat with the brightest teal eyes you had ever seen and two tails. You ponder the sight for a moment as the cat seems to vanish into mist.

Confused by this sight, you start walking once more with your head turned the wrong way, causing you to trip slightly over a small box wrapped with red ribbon and a note attached.

&Stay safe this Summer Solstice and beware the full moon&&&& I shall try and protect you&&
Till next time,
Kuro~Neko&

She sighed in relief upon reading the message. Normally, her body wouldn't freeze during situations like that. However, with her decent fear of darkness, it decided to go into panic mode. Standing back up, the mage dusted her dress off and picked the gift box left behind.

"I'll have to thank them next time. Although... I wonder." Kate started to think about the cat she saw after leaving the forest. One with two tails? That was impossible for normal cats around town. Unless... The word 'demon' appeared and caused her to shake her head. "It couldn't be."

(( Oh gawd. I forgot tonight's a full moon. Oh geez. Dx Thank you for the message! You will also make my character very happy once she finds out about the new book. ))

Message: (Prepare yourself for a ridiculously long story...)

You stand by your bed, exhausted by the grueling day you had faced today. You wonder to yourself, will anything interesting ever happen to you?

&No,& you conclude, &Probably not.&

As you prepare to settle into bed and rest your eyes, a flicker of light catches your attention.

"Weird," you think, "I&m the only one that lives here."

Oddly curious, you reach for your flashlight. You notice now that the light seems to be moving to and fro your room. You decide to follow the light. As you shuffle on, you see the slight outline of a person in front of you. This person is eerily quiet and seems to move with quick and indecisive motions.

Hesitantly, you whisper,"H-hello? Um, who are you?"

&&&you&&you can see me?& the figure inquires.

&Of course I can see you,& you reply, &Why would I not?&

&Oh&&you see&&I&&I&m not alive&&anymore&&&

As you step closer, you notice that the figure is that of a petite girl. Her hair hangs in loose blond locks, her dress tattered, and fists clenched. You step closer still, and you see that she is silently crying.

"Why are you crying?" you ask.

"...I...I'm not crying..." she answers quietly, and rubs her eyes quickly.

You are now close enough to touch her. You gently reach out and pet her hair. The girl barely responds. With more petting, it is uncovered that she has several bruises on her head.

"Little girl," you say softly, "Why is your head covered in bruises?"

The girl, though reluctant, divulges the answer with a quiet whisper, "My&&mother&&she was the queen of cakes&&but, one day&&a&&big meanie came&&and k-k-killed everyone&&"

The girl continues to cry, and you try to hug her. However, she pushes you back.

"&&d-don&t touch me!" She mutters softly, "Y-you&re&&you&re too much like mommy&&"

You try again, but this time more softly. She lets you hug her, perhaps out of memory of her mother. After a while, she stops crying.

"&&hey&&I think I have to go now&&" she says.

"Why?" you ask, "I&ve only just met you."

"I&m sorry&&" she mummers, "I&m not&&alive anymore&&so&&I have to go&&now&&sorry&&"

She disappears and the light fades. In her place is a delicately wrapped gift box. There is a tag that says in a child&s handwriting, "This used to belong to me. You can have it now."

Nestled inside is a necklace. Gently, you pick it up.

* * * * * * *

You stare at the necklace you had received from the lost little ghost girl not too long ago. She wanted you to have it, huh? You had a feeling you knew this child in a past life...and if not in this one, then a past one...

A feeling of comfort bubbles from within you. In the span of seconds, you are sent spiraling into a world of memories...

* * * * * *

You watched as a young princess dashed after the fleeing form of a petite rabbit in the courtyard. Her mother, the queen, was garbed in equally as complex clothing, but lagged behind.

"Serenity," she called, "Wait for me!"

Serenity turned towards her mother and she ceased running.

"Mum, are you tired? Would you like to sit down?"

"I...Serenity, I'm fine."

"No you're not! Clearly, you are out of breath! Please, sit down!"

"...Alright darling." The queen smiled and plopped gingerly onto the ground with a steady sort of grace only acquired after years of practice. She pointed at the rose bushes surrounding the courtyard.

"Sweetheart, do you see all those rose bushes?"

"Of course."

"Would you care to describe them for me?"

"Well, they aren't there in the winter...but they come back in the spring, they don't taste very good...and they're pretty!"

"Now," the queen pointed at herself, "Think of me as one of those flowers."

"Oh, so you're pretty like the flowers?"

"Oh, Serenity, you flatter me...but no," the queen stated sadly, "Sweetheart, I...one day, you're going to take over my throne. You'll have to be queen. And remember this, some people...some cannot be trusted with power."

"I know mum! That will be when you're too old to be queen, right?"

"Serenity...I...I might not be able to live that long..." the queen mumbled.

"Sorry mum, I couldn't hear you...what?"

"Oh, it was nothing, sweetheart."

* * * * *

A maid was standing in the entrance of the opened doors to the queen's chambers. She watched as mother and daughter fought and pleaded for each other's sake. The maid did not interject in any part of the conversation because, well, that was what was expected.

* * * *

"Mother, I can't bare it any longer! I simply cannot be your heir! It is too much responsibility for a little girl like me!"

My daughter's pleas affected me more than she realized. With a deep pang in my heart I answered with authority instead of love.

"Serenity, you knew t-this would happen someday. We a-all did. You of all people should-"

"No! Mother, I really cannot bear the burden of the kingdom! You, you just forced this upon be, you know?"

"S-serenity..." I said weakly.

"I mean," her voice became soft, "I...I just can't bear it anymore...mother, why must you die while I am still young?"

I tried to answer, I really did. But...my breath caught and I knew, oh how I knew, that my heart would not be beating for much longer.

"Mother? Mother, are you alright?!" she half yelled. I coughed in response.

Serenity ran up to me and proceeded to hug me tenderly. I had not the strength to hug back.

"Mother, mum, please, please don't leave me! Please don't...don't die..."

She began to cry. I...I truly, truly did not want to leave this earth, but I knew that my time had come.

With weak fingers, I grasped my daughters hair tenderly.

"It's a-alright Serenity. I know y-you'll be able to lead the kingdom. Just...just promise me this."

My daughter lifted her head up and I saw all the tears on my ruined dress and on hers and I felt so, so guilty inside.

"D-darling, I would like for you to have this necklace. Please keep it by your side until you leave this realm. I'll be w-waiting for you..." I felt even weaker now. I clutched both my hands into the soft mattress of my bed as a pain hit me and I moaned weakly.

"Mother?! Mother, I promise, I will treasure this necklace forever! Mum...mum, please don't die!" Serenity pleaded to me with great urgency in her voice.

I closed my eyes. I never opened them again. But even years after death, I heard her pain and sorrows in my thoughts, and I end up wondering why, oh why, did I have to die?

* * *

The maid sighed mournfully. So the queen was dead now. Honestly, she was never very close with the queen, but what she knew of her was enough to let her feel sorrow. The maid then proceeded to tell the rest of the servants in the castle the horrendous news.

* *

A day later, it is announced that the queen was poisoned by a maid working in the castle. Apparently, she did not do so willingly.

And so the rule of the tyrants begins. War begins. Thousands die. The kingdom is enveloped in chaos. The princess was killed, all heirs to the throne lost.

*

The flash of memories stop. You are in your room again. You clutch the necklace closer. "So this is what your life was like..."

~The Bunny Queen

She wiped the tears from her eyes after watching the memories unfold. It was difficult to respond after all that. "You suffered such great pain," she responded, staring at the necklace in her hand. "I hope you can move on someday. Probably experience a much different life."

After a fiery argument with your friends, you storm off in a furry. Wandering around grumbling angrily to yourself, you eventually find yourself at a deserted beach. You sit in the pale sand and watch the waves crash violently against the shore. It isn't too long until you feel a presence next to you. You turn and just about have a heart attack when you see a pale haired girl kneeling beside you. It wasn't her sudden appearance that had really startled you, but the fact that you could see right through her. Though what appeared to be a small river of blood trickling down from behind where her hair hid half her face didn't help either. You stare at her, frozen in place as she watches you with her visible blue eye filled with a mixture of sorrow and curiosity before she looks down. You follow her gaze to see her scribbling something on a piece of paper that seemed to have been water damaged at some point. You watch curiously as she writes before she shoves the paper into your hands and bolts for the waves. You're about to call for her to wait when she suddenly vanishes upon reaching the water. You look down at the paper and see words written in a strange, shimmering blue ink:

Life isn't long, a mother's smile,
And then another smile,
Then romping feet,
Then sweet remembrances for awhile.

From gold to gray, from dawn to day,
And then the twilight hours.
Life is to brief to hunt for grief,
For thorns among the flowers.

Life isn't long, just time for song,
And love and things sublime.
Be not concerned with thoughts that burn,
There simply isn't time.

Looking to the girl again, you see an empty bag of marshmallows in her hand. Ah, that would explain things...

Getting to your feet, you wander over to her, shooing the fluffs away as you do.
