oh yeah, i liked the original series too!
although i had a crush on roy mustang and i was angry that he ended up looking like a pirate, hah. (//∇//)
but plotwise i liked it! i liked how they wrapped it up with the conqueror of shamballa.

I liked it a lot plotwise, because I saw the anime befor reading the manga. After reading the manga it was just like: This. Is. So. Much. Better.

i know, right? i feel like the manga went into so much more in depth with the homunculi and father plot.
i started reading the manga while the original series was still going,
but since arakawa wasn't finished with the manga yet i got impatient waiting for updates and stopped reading.
so many things i need to finish. (|||❛ω❛.)

i'm the same way.
if it's a long time between updates i always forget what happened and have to read a couple of previous chapters before i read the update. (´Ａ｀。)
now when i'm looking for manga to read i check to see if they're complete or not.

that thread badtzmaru posted is super helpful.
several of those grant items are worth millions in the marketplace which is helpful for new users trying to make gold.
