i'm new to this site. i have heard about it for a few years and i finally settled on trying it for a while. i like that the forum and the site as a whole is so active because i can be up at crazy hours and having people around all of the time is a huge plus. the avatars are really cute to me and i have a lot of fun doing customising like that so it is great already!

my name is jason but i'm used to being called jasey by everyone i know. i'm twenty-one years old and i'm a university student from canada. i am studying linguistics and i speak french fluently. i've also studied korean and italian a lot but i'm not fluent. my username comes from the song body electric by lana del rey. she was, in turn, inspired by the poem i sing the body electric by walt whitman. i am really in love with the lyrics.

i'm big on photography and writing. i am not in to writing fiction, though, but rather essays and opinion pieces on current events. i like to debate. i take a lot of photos and some of them have won stuff. i try to push the limits when i decide what to photograph unless it is something i don't plan. for example, i got a photograph of a bat with its wings spread in the daylight the other day! i had never seen one until then. i live in a really, really rural area. it is a thirty minute drive — yes, i drive — to the nearest anything and my home is about two hundred years old. it's very historical and beautiful but also very isolating.

i look forward to meeting new people here and getting to know some nice friends. i have a quick question if you know the answer: i was wondering what the rules about posting pictures of yourself are. my understanding is that it is okay to post a photo of yourself as long as it isn't explicit, revealing or whatever. anyways, i hope you are all having a great night!

hey! for me, i have a strong background in romance (latin-based) languages. my first language is french and i have been half-heartedly speaking french and italian as well my whole life. english i am also fluent in but i don't know any other germanic languages. the thing about korean is that it is what is called a 'language isolate' which means it isn't really part of any language family whatsoever. the same is true about japanese. korean is definitely hard for me but languages like mandarin (traditional script) and arabic are absolutely terrifying in comparison. hangul script is really intuitive to pick up. it's just very different from my european background.
