You change your avatar by going into your profile. Going down the page to delete chacter put in your password then click the image of a cloud and get a new avatar biggrin

Yes. Everything stays the same about your account except the appearance of your avatar. You don't lose gold or items, however if you've bought a hairstyle from the salon it will be lost if you delete your character.
