Don't quote me on this, because I'm not 100% sure, but I believe pets are things you can put down in your sig, (the ones I've seen say about 'feed my pet' and link to another site with a counter, to rank the popularity of the pet) and are drawn/made by people around the site/in the market place. Best thing I can think of is to find someone with one (chatterbox is a good place for that) and ask them about it.

Gaia has no official pet things.
