Many welcomes. As Grumpy has said, the point is primarily to socialize. There's also the avatar side of things, collecting items and dressing up and whatnot, which is fun at times.

Not really too much of a direct point. A lot of people like it for the forums, where you can find a lot of people to talk to about almost anything. Other people like it for the flash spaces, Rally or Towns 2 or Gaia's MMO, zomg!

Don't be shy! As the other fuzzy ones have stated, the Paws forum is a very welcoming place, and we have all kinds of giveaways and gatherings quite frequently.
