don't feel like a newbie. everyone has to start somewhere. ^^
if you want to make friends, i'd suggest looking at the specific boards or guilds for something that interests you, like reading or anime. you're bound to find like-minded individuals to talk to. and if you can't find someone that way, playing the games on here can net you people who like to play them, too. ^^
if you run into a snag, there are tons of lovely people on here who will help you out, if you're literate and polite. don't be a troll and people won't troll. and if you still need help, PM me or the other person who offered, Nitane Miyamoto. as she said, she's been here since 05', and i've been here since 06', so one of us should be able to help you. ^^
oh, and stay away from chatterbox till you get yourself settled on the site. they'll eat you alive in there if they think you're new. xD
