What Gaia Maps Are and How to Find Them

You may have been wondering, if you've just joined, if Gaia is only the largest Forum in the world. As a matter of fact, it isn't just a forum, but a totally independent world, with landscapes and landmarks. The thing that best illustrates this, is Gaia's own world map. Gaian maps are so dynamic, that they change with time, seasons, and events. So how do I access these maps you may ask. This is one of the ways I will help you.

Simply scroll down to the GAIA A to Z list, anc click World Map. =3

Congratulations, you now have access to the beautiful maps of Gaia. Now I will explain Gaian Standard Time. One of the innovations that the programmer's have installed into the Gaian Map system, is the feature of GST. Depending on the time of day it is in GST, the Gaian map shows the time of day it is in GST. For instance, if it was 5:00 AM in GST, the map would show the time of day to be dawn. It it were 12:00 PM (Noon) in GST, the map would be light to show that it was Noon in GST, and so on. GST is different that regular time however. In the passing of one Earth Day, two Gaia Days pass. This feature is normally used for events. In example, during the Halloween event, users could only participate in the trick-or-treating activity when it was night in GST.

How to get Around the Maps of Gaia

You've reached the Map, but navigating it may be another problem. One of the solutions that the programmer's have provided to users is the Teleport Option. It's located in the Upper Right corner of the map.

It looks something like this:

Clicking on the Drop Down Button provides you with a number of options to choose from. You may scroll through these options and when you are ready, choose one and you'll automatically be teleported directly to your chosen map. The Teleport Option with the Drop Down Menu open looks like this:

Another solution, even if it may be slower will allow you to view the more desolate areas of Gaia. What I mean by this is you will be able to see the wilderness of Gaia, as you cannot reach it through the Teleport Option. On the North, South, East , and West sides of many maps are small arrows.

Clicking on these arrows will take you the next map in the direction of the arrow you clicked. For example, if you clicked an arrow that was pointing West, you'd be taken to the map directly West from the map you were previously at.

When you're on a map that has clickable features, you can access the features by hovering your mouse over the building or feature you would like to use. The building, or a label should pop-up, and that means that you can click it.

A descriptive Guide for the Isle de Gambino Map

Isle de Gambino Highlights
    1. Gambino Hat Rack
    2. Gambino Outfitters
    3. Banking and Trading
    4. Gaia Marketplace
    5. Johnny K. Gambino's Gold Mountain
    6. Gambino Mansion

1. Gambino Hat Rack

The hat rack is run by Ruby and her son Peyo, who evidently admires the Ducky Hat. The Hat Rack is home to many of Gaia's strange and wonderful hats and masks. Some are not as priced as cheap as many would like, however many are priced perfectly in a relatively cheap price range.

2. Gambino Outfitters

Another one of Gambino's fine stores. Outfitter's features many items of tropical wear, and street wear. There are many other items as well. You will be greeted by Sasha, the voluptious woman with the great tan. biggrin Price ranges are medium here, with many different items that are affordable for the average members of Gaia.

3. Banking and Trading

Welcome to the National Bank of Gaia headed by Meredith. Here is the heart of trading between users. In order to begin trading with your fellow Gaians you must first purchase a trading pass. There is more on this elsewhere in the guide. Trading Passes cost 500 gold. They enable you to send items and gold to other users. New
users can recieve items, but if you wish to send them you must first purchase the Bank's trading pass. At the bank you may also purchase a vending pass which is used in conjunction with Gambino's Marketplace. See below for more information on the "Marketplace". Purchasing a Vending Pass enables users to open up their very own personal shop in the Marketplace to Sell their goods and items. Vending Passes cost 1000 G and can be purchased after one purchases a trading pass.

4. Gaia Marketplace

The Marketplace is an area of lively bartering, purchasing, and auctions. You'll need to know something's before you begin purchasing or selling your own items in the marketplace.

First off, to purchase anything you must have enough gold. On the right hand of each product is usually a Buy Price and a Bid Price, higlighted in shades of grey. Clicking "Buy Now" will bring you to a page that allows you to purchase the item immediately and it will be put directly into your inventory, and the gold taken out of your account. Clicking "Place Bid" will take you to a page that allows you to place a bid on the item. If you bid the highest, the item will be yours. You are only allowed to bid higher than the last bidder or than the starting bidding price. When you bid, the gold is taken out of your account until you are outbid, or if the auction ends.

Wish to find a specific item? The best way to do this is to use the search feature. Type in the name of the item you wish to find or part of the name for a broader search. You can also narrow down your search by searching by the category of the item and price range.

You may also purchase things from a certain person's shop. The small minibar that appears underneath a user's post in the forums may have a small shopping bag icon if they are selling something in their shop. Shopkeepers can customize their shops with their own text, shop title, and pictures. Clicking on the sellers' name in the marketplace takes you to their shop, which shows their avatar, their store description and name, and finally the items they wish to sell.

5. Johnny K. Gambino's Gold Mountain

The Casino is one of Gaia's most prolific minigames. You will be greeted by Lex in the lobby. There are three options in the lobby. You may purchase tokens at the Token Booth, cash in your tickets for prizes at "Prize and Joy", or go straight to the Slots to begin winning.

In order to play slots you must first purchase Tokens. Tokens cost 1 G each, and you purchase them by clicking on the tokens booth in the lobby. Use these tokens to play the Slots Minigame. Your winnings are based on the number of tokens you played, (You can play a maximum of 3) the symbol that you got, and if you got it three times in a row of only two. Recieving three in a row of any symbol provides winnings, that you can cash into tickets. Recieving two in a row puts into your winnings however many tokens you played on that turn. You may also play your winnings that you won, if you run out of tokens or wish to save your tokens for another purpose. Click the "Play Winnings" button at the bottom. After you are done playing, click the button in the top-left that says, "Cash-out and Quit." This will cash your winnings into tickets which can be traded for items at "Prize And Joy."

Becky runs the "Prize and Joy". There are many items here, most of which require a minimum of 3000 tickets in order to purchase. Use the tickets you won in slots here.

A descriptive Guide for the Durem Map

Durem Highlights
    1. Durem Depot
    2. H.R. Wesley
    3. Salon D'ur Em
    4. Von Helson Mansion

1. Durem Depot

The Durem Depot is a haven for those who are attracted to alternative and just utterly cool clothing. The items may be a bit pricey, but many find it to be worth it. The Bad Girl, Moira runs the store, and has no problem with showing you her new tattoos.

2. H.R. Wesley

Those into Formal wear would enjoy shopping at H.R. Wesley's. It's owned and operated by the very stiff, and very serious Edmund. The items here are extremely pricey, and are for those in the wealthy price-range. Items range from Uniforms, to formal coats, military wear, and conservative fasionable outfits, as well as some not-so-conservative outfits as well.

3. Salon D'ur Em

Tired of the same old hair-do? Come to Vanessa's "Salon D'ur Em". You may purchase the hair styles available at character creation, if you do not wish to go through deleting your entire character and having to take the work to remake it, or you may purchase strange and wonderful hairstyles available only at this salon. It's sure to have the right style for anyone and has all the colors of the rainbow to go with it as well. The newer hairstyles tend to empty out ones pocket-book but are well worth the gold. So take a seat in the barber's chair and let Vanessa do the work.

A descriptive Guide for the Aekea Map

Aekea Highlights
    1. Aekea Housing Commission
    2. The Faktori
    3. Crate & Apparel

1. Aekea Housing Commission

Welcome to the Aekea Housing Commission. Here is where you can recieve your Gaian House which you can decorate with furniture and other items that you may buy from "The Faktori". You'll be greeted by Josie. In the Housing Main Menu, you can choose from three options. First off you'll need a house. You can choose from one of three designs. Afterwards you may change the design of your house for 1000 gold. You may also upgrade your house for 20000 G which will expand the size of your house. For more information please refer to the Housing Guide.

2. The Faktori

The Faktori is where to buy the items for your new house. It features many items of furniture, wallpaper, wall hangings, and floor decorations. Bots, (which are illegal in any other part of Gaia besides Aekea) run the entire Faktori. They are a strange lot in which many differing opinions collide. For instance, Ribateau, the robot which runs the wall furnishings section hates humans with a passion while Blodeau, the Robot who runs floor furnishings loves them. Bildeau is who will first greet you as you enter the Faktori, and runs the tile and wallpaper section. You can navigate by clicking the arrows at the bottom of the pages to reach each section.

3. Crate & Apparel

Crate & Apparel is a refurnished storehouse in which you can purchase many items that do not fit in the other parts of Gaia. It features Asian-centered clothing as well. It's run by Liam, a play-boy who like to flirt with the girls and brag about his strength and ability to destroy robots if they ever should rise up against humans.

"Wanna go fishing??"

First:
Chose one of three lakes to start fishing on. They are ranked below based on difficulty:
Bass'ken lake: Easy (starter)
Port of Gambino: Medium (get some practice in first before you hit here)
Durem Reclamation Facility: Hard (more for advanced fishers)
~ The fish get harder to catch as you move to the harder lakes and vary on how rare the fish is. Good luck catching the big one. Make sure you have your bait and rod on hand, that will be imperative if you wish to fish.

Second:
Once you have chosen the lake, click on the map where it says fish, a window should open that starts the fishing game. Feel free to chose between solo fishing or multi player fishing. Best to start out in solo, so you can practice before you start to play with your friends.

Third:
Select a bait bucket. This will be the food source to draw the fish to your line.

Note: The type of bait you choose will sometimes determine the type of fish you catch.
F Bait: High chance at junk and very common fish
D Bait: Good chance at junk and verry common fish, fair chance at the more uncommon fish
A Bait: Good chance at all types of fish and junk, might even be lucky at reeling in the big one

Forth:
Choose a rod. That is, just in case you have more the one fishing rod. As you get better in the game and at making money easier you will be able to change your rods before casting out.

Fifth:
Click on your rod to cast out your line. Different rods give different boundary lines when landing a fish.

Old rod:

Strength rod:

Distance rod:

Performance rod:

Watch the bar at the bottom. The farther to the red your moving bar is, the farther your line will cast.

Note: Plus rods or upgraded rods will have a plus sign near them when you select it (that is, if you have one). The upgrades vary in cost, depending on the rod, and can be obtained at the Ole fishing hole. The difference is that your floater and line goes farther into the lake when you cast out. The farther your line is cast out, the better chance you get at catching a rare fish!

Sixth:
When you hook a fish, you will see 2 red line appear on your screen. Keep the floater between the two lines and...congratulations, you caught a fish!

Hook a fish:

~ Your avi does this:

Catch a fish:

~ Your avi does this:

Catch junk:

~ Your avi does the same thing with catching a fish, just with the junk in the bubble instead of a fish.

Miss a fish:

~ Your avi does this:

Be warned you can also get cans, old boots, and even tires before you catch your first fish. Just keep practicing so you can get better.

Note: See the little map of where you are fishing? Click on that and you can move to different fishing spots, but that's only when your line is not out in the water.

Seventh:
To leave the game just hit save & quit, and then your window will close, or wait till you fill up your bucket, the game will save automatically and then you get the choice to fish again (window stays open) or quit (window closes).

"Want to sell your catch with out using the marketplace???"

Now from here you can sell your fishing items back to the Old Man Logan in the fishing store beside bass'ken lake.

But you can only visit the store when your not fishing, if you do when you are fishing or have the window open to your game you will receive a warning about it.

Now when you go to sell the fish back, normally when you don't want to save for one of the fishing items. From the main fishing page, you can sell them back to Old Man Logan just by simply clicking on them.

Just click on the fish you want to sell back, select how many and hit enter.

Selecting (this will be at the bottom by your avi the list of what you caught by picture):

What Old Man Logan says:

Note: What Old Man Logan says is the amount of gold your fish(es) you sell back are worth total. It's a fast way to earn easy gold, but takes time to really get down. You can do the same thing with junk as well.

Tokens

You couldn't possibly gamble your gold without tokens! When first entering the Casino, visit the Tokens Booth. Each token is 1 gold, and can be used in the slots. Lex is the employee.

Slots Basics

Note* Slot basics apply to both single and multiplayer.
Click the 'Play Token' button either once, twice, or three times depending on how many tokens you'd like to gamble. If you clicked the 'Play Token' button to many times and would like to cancel one of the tokens, press cancel. From there, press the spin button and the slots will spin untill landing on the random symbols.

You also have the choice of playing your winnings. What that does, is when you press the 'Play Winnings' button, all of the current winnings will be played, so you have a chance of either gaining or loosing your already earned tickets.

When satisfied with the amount of tickets you've won, or when you've run out of tokens, simply press the Cash out & Quit button to save your tickets. The slots window will automatically close once tickets are saved.

Symbols & Winnings (In detail)

The symbol guide for the winnings is fairly simple, though some still have difficulty understanding it. If you get 2 matching symbols of any kind, whether it be a coin or a halo, you will get 1 ticket for each token you played. So if you played 2 tokens, you will recieve 2 tickets. However, if you get three symbols of the same kind, the winnings are much larger. In order to find out how much you've won, align the symbols you got with the number of tokens you played. For example, if you got 3 wings while playing 2 tokens, you will recieve 2000 tickets (Example shown in picture above).

Single and Multiplayer Mode

The single and multiplayer modes are very similar, with only a few differences.

When selecting the single player mode, you will automatically be brought into your own private location with only yourself included.

When selecting the multiplayer mode, you will have the option of already joining a previously made location, or you can create your own location. Once in a location or room you've chosen, other gaians will have the opportunity to join or leave the location your in. You can chat with the other gaians in the location, and even see what they've won by looking at their slot machines.

Prize & Joy

Once you've earned a good amount of tickets, visit the Prize & Joy! Becky will then proceed to sell you any of the items in the shop, which range from an Ace of Spades to a Royal Crown! All items must be bought in tickets.

If you find your just short of the tickets needed for that long sought for Joker Wand, you can purchase your tickets through the marketplace or buying them from another person through the trade system.

GAIA Towns Mini Games

Once you enter GAIA Towns, you'll notice a bag and a blue circle with a person in it at the bottom right hand corner.

The "circle" allows you to select your avatar's pose in Towns, between kneel and stand. To change your pose, simply click the icon.

The backpack is your inventory bag. Everything you collect in Towns will be held in this bag until you decide to clear it. To view what is inside the bag, simply click the bag and it will expand. Click "close" on the bottom of the bag to minimize it.

Bug Catching

To get to Gaia Towns, go to Barton Town and access the train station. The train station is a small brown building near the eastern Barton Town exit.

Navigate through the many neighborhoods and see if you can spot any bugs roaming around. (For information on how to navigate around GAIA Towns, check out the GAIA Towns Guide for those details as well as any other detail that pertains to GAIA Towns.)

Not all neighborhoods have insects to catch, but if you do manage to find a neighborhood with bugs, here's a list of steps for you to follow.

1. Get as close as possible to the bug. If the critter is moving, try to get in line with its projected path. When it gets close, or once you get close to it, click on the bug and a net should appear, as shown below.

2. Once the bug net disappears, it'll show whether you caught the bug or not. If the bug was caught, a bubble will appear above your avatar with the bug inside. If you missed, a dialog bubble will appear with not-so-happy punctuation. Both shown below.

NOTE: If you missed, just keep trying until you catch the darned thing!

3. Once an insect is caught, it'll appear in your inventory bag.

Flower Picking

Head to GAIA Towns via the train station in Barton Town. Like bug catching, navigate through the hundreds of neighborhoods and look for flowers sprouting from the ground. Not all neighborhoods have plantlife growing, but if you come across a pretty little plant, here are some steps for you to follow in order to pick it out of the ground.

1. In order to dig the flower up, walk up to the flower and click on it. The shovel you purchased from Rina's Flowershoppe should appear and dig down to the roots of the flower.

2. Once the shovel digs deep enough, the flower will disappear from the Towns screen and appear in a bubble above your avatar. This shows that you have successfully picked the flower.

3. If a flower is successfully picked, it'll appear in your inventory bag.

Trash Collecting

If you wish to collect trash and help keep the neighborhoods clean, here's what you need to do.

1. Access GAIA Towns via the train station in Barton Town. Navigate the neighborhoods until you find a piece of trash on the floor.

2. Once you find garbage, walk up to the item and click on it. In a puff of smoke, the trash item will disappear and show up in a bubble above your avatar.

3. Each piece of trash you have successfully collected will appear in your inventory bag.

To send the items you've collected to your main inventory, click the robot on the very bottom of the bag. It'll ask you if you want to save your items to your main inventory. Click "Yes" and voila, you have yourself some new bugs, trash, and flowers!

If you have questions about the basics of GAIA Towns, please refer to B5's GAIA Towns Guide.

Bug/Flower/Trash Exchange

You can exchange your bugs, flowers, and trash for items that are useable.

To exchange bugs, see Moira in the Durem Depot and see will give you bottles of ink for your creepy crawlers.

To exchange flowers, see Rina in the Barton Flower Shoppe to make beautiful bouquets with your plantlife.

To exchange trash, see Peyo in the Gambino Hat Rack and make paper hats with your collected trash.

The exchange rate varies from item to item. The link below will take you to a thread with every exchange rate listed as well as the different bugs, flowers, and trash you can get while walking around Gaia Towns.
Bug/Flower/Trash Exchange Rate (Owned by Boxed Lunch)

"Boxed Lunch"
How to Play

The point of the game is to push the golden boxed letters to the top. To do that you need to remove letters by spelling words. Once you find a word to spell click on the letters you need in the proper order. Once clicked the words will highlight to show the have been selected. Once you have spelt the word right press the "SUBMIT WORD" button found in the middle left hand side of the screen. It also works if you double click the last letter. If the word is accepted the letters will be removed and will push everything under them up until full. Once you complete the level you will earn gold or bachelor's credits. Under your avatar found on the tor right hand side you will see a "Time Till Next Drop" arrow, once that allow fills up letters will appear on the top row and bump all letters under it down, if a golden letter falls off, its game over.

As you level up the game gets harder and harder to play. It will start by the "Time till next drop" timer speeding up. Then you will get worse letters like "Qu" "X" and "Z" more often making it hard to find words. At level 30 you will get a fourth column that you will need to bump up, and a fifth at level 60... how those people do it? I DON'T KNOW!

"Boxed Lunch"
Power Ups

After you eliminate a letter it will increase a power up based on the color. Red letters will increase sticky power, yellow increases bump and blue powers up split. After 13 letters or so it will be moved underneath all your letters. These balls can give you an edge in a losing situation and can save you. Powers can be used by clicking on the row you want to use it on in the power-up row were your power-up appears. Power ups can be combined for a dual effect and if you combine all three... it can send a letter right to the top. 0.0

Sticky

For this Power you chose a block that will NOT get bumped in the next word bump. Meaning that if a letter it on the bottom, it will NOT be pushed down. This can save you from a game over if the letter is on the bottom row. Also, once the efect is used once it will were off meaning you are not safe forever. To see a sample of what would happen on the situation on the left click the pictre and note how the "T" is not pushed down like the other two rows were. You can tell if a block has this effect on it by how the top of the golden block looks.

BUMP

This one is simple and handy, it will nock the block left and right off the golden block in that row. This can be helpful if both of the other golden blocks are below you and you have hard letters such as Qu and X next to you. If you hit a golden block it bumps the block above it off.

Split

This power is one of the best ones. Though it dose not move that block up, it removes the blocks in the corner of the golden block chosen. (one space up and left, one space up and right, one space down and left, one space down and right.). If it hits a golden block it pushes it up one space.

Announce

This is BY FAR the best power-up in the game. It can be made by combining all three different power-ups and sends the selected golden block right to the top! Need I say anymore to explain how helpful this is? Even if the golden block is on the bottom row it will save you. I suggest you use this one carefully, you never know when you will need it.

Sticky/Bump, Sticky/Split, & Split/Bump

Combining two powers is possible. If you have one power on standby and gain another power they will combine to give you a combo effect of both the combinations. There is a lot of different opinions if you should use a level 2 attack or save it for the level 3.
