Roleplaying? What is it?

Roleplaying is you playing a different person. Maybe you are a shy boy in real life, but in the game you are a brave knight who slays dragons and saves towns from dangerous monsters. It's easy, even very easy, as long as you got good imagination. But taking the first steps into the world of roleplaying can be hard sometimes, and that's where this guide can be helpful.

arrow Roleplaying is about to enhance your gaming experience. It's about making your gaian sessions richer and more enjoyable. It's like... enjoying an update without waiting for the team.

arrow Also remember that there is no right or wrong way to roleplay. It has always been an exercise of imagination and as long as you have some, you will do great.

Making Characters

Many RPGs require you to fill out a character profile before you can start. A lot of role players already have these ready for the characters that they use most often, so we hope we can help you make your own!

Once you have made a profile or memorized some basic information about your character, you can start RPing without contradicting yourself all the time (did my character have brown or black hair?). As you play, your character can develop into a full-fledged personality that you can be comfortable playing in any situation. Good luck!

How to Run an RPG

If you are planning to start an RPG, then plan to be the person who cares the most about keeping it going. If your RP has a Game Master, you're it! A GM starts an RPG and helps keep it going smoothly, sometimes with a little bit of help from the other role players. GM is the same as a Dungeon Master in D&D and may go by other names as well.

If you come across a term that you don't understand, please refer to this post. If the term is not in there, PM Penden or Seishin to ask what it means and she will answer and add it to the post for you.
