Welcome to Gaia! ::

I am going to try this again now when I am awake and can make clear what I meant. I do find that there is a viable question to be discussed in the topic.Sorry Noraboo, I will make sure to clear up what I am asking this time around. You were right about that last one, pretty sad on my part.

We all know of the transgressions of priests within Christian institutions, the Catholic Church especially. The topic has been done to death and then some. Everyone and their left lung has an opinion on this. However this is not the only instance of molestation instituted by religion. Or I should say supported. One example is the myth built around a man for centuries.

This grizzled old man has been in our hearts since the fourth century. As an elf he has the blessing, or curse, of eternal life. It is no wonder he would get as lonely as he does. The man at this point only takes part in the traditions with which he is associated so that he may get some sweet poon. His days are filled with alchohol drinking and drug consumption 364 days of the year.

I am in fact reminded of a particular incident in which he made his way into my sacred place of sleep. I was fast asleep awaiting his arrival. I knew not the what the old songs and stories meant. I could only assume the best, not the worst. Now I know better. He crept up to my bed as silently as could be. He removed the sheets and put his hand on my forehead awakening me with a jolt. And then I was clued into the true meaning of all the old stories. I immediately implanted my foot into his nether regions, he would not have the chance to tap any sweet boy a** that night. No self respecting Italian would ever let there boygina be violated.

However, once the true sight of the man has been revealed it is no wonder that the stories are indeed true.

Do you have any clue what that doob is used for other than smoking!? He is indeed as evil as one would be lead to believe.

All the songs of yesterday have warned us, now we must take heed. Even good 'ole Blue Eyes attempted to save us.
Frank Sinatra
You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He's making a list
And checking it twice;
Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
O! You better watch out!
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus is coming to town

This here should be proof enough of his evil intentions. The old b*****d is watching the children sleep for crying out loud. What do you think he is doing? And why do you think he wants to know who is naughty and nice? He does wear a bondage suit after all!

And these more recent offenses are not his worst by any means. Why he has even been guilty of genocide.
Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden
White man came across the sea
He brought us pain and misery
He killed our tribes, he killed our creed
He took our game for his own need

We fought him hard we fought him well
Out on the plains we gave him hell
But many came too much for cree
Oh will we ever be set free?

Riding through dustclouds and barren wastes
Galloping hard on the plains
Chasing the redskins back to their holes
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom a stab in the back
Women and children and cowards attack

Run to the hills run for your lives
Run to the hills run for your lives

Soldier blue on the barren wastes
Hunting and killing their game
Raping the women and wasting the men
The only good indians are tame
Selling them whisky and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old

Run to the hills run for your lives
(repeat to end)

We must protect ourselves from this menace. Just because the adults no longer believe in him does not mean he is not real. Like Satan his greatest trick is making people believe he is nothing but a myth.

All joking aside what is the value of keeping such a myth alive? I have known many a child to be traumatized by the local "Santa Claus" at the malls and churches. An excuse to scare our children into behaving themselves perhaps? And if such is the case is it moral?

Considering all the negative impact this myth has caused and the commercialism of the holiday is it worth keeping it alive? It is not as if Jesus' actual birthday is celebrated as it is believe he was born much closer to Easter anyway. When faced with the consumer violence instigated by this holiday what is there to support it's existence?

Oh, Don. Thank you, once again, for cracking me up with a satire thread. You are the absolute best at these.

But aside from that, that picture is the greatest. Santa is nothing but A wretched old man, who gets high, rides his sleigh, and munches out on cookies at people houses while molesting them.

Fight the sickness in this world.
I lurb satire.

Ahh thank you. Though I don't know you can really call this one satire. I would like to see the questions I posed discussed. It might prove interesting. And if it doesn't I'll kill the thread with my own fingers of typedy doom.

It is interesting, though. When you think about it, Santa Claus is sort of like bribery. How many times when you were little did your parents say "Shut up, or you're getting a lump of coal on Christmas from Santa!"

It worked, too. I was always my best behaved around Christmas.
I have to agree, it was the most effectual threat they could hang over my head. But is it moral to threaten our children?

Is it moral to have sex before marriage? Most say no, but people still do it. o_o

Hmmm, that is a tough statement to make. Where is the disconnect then? If morality holds no bearing where does one stop? Should we then allow murder?
And I scarcely see how most people believe pre-marital sex to be immoral. It would seem to be quite the oppossite to me.

But why has it become so commonplace to threaten our children with "no presents" at christmas? I mean, it's bribery and extortion.

"Be good, or you won't get this!" is the exact same as "Have sex, and I'll give you this!"

...Maybe I'm going overboard by citing paralells to prostitution, but cite a difference between the two.

Okay, that was for shear comic value. Come on now. Get on topic.

The only difference is the language. Both boild down to "do what I say and you will be rewarded."

Exactly. It's all to coax someone into doing something that you want them to do, and maybe they don't necessarily want to. But When its your kids, and you just want them to be good, it's socially acceptable.
