The workings within the four floor building could be perceived by the passing traffic and walking pedestrians that moved busily down the streets of Downtown Durem. Within the building people dripping sweat in different ways corresponding to the floors they were on could be seen. On the first floor above the lobby floor, one could see kickboxers and wrestlers testing there strength against each other, on the next floor you could see people burning muscle either by weight machines or cardio machines in the traditional fashion, on the highest floor you could see crowds around armed men who taught self defense.

Who Are We...?


We are a fighting arts gym dedicated first and formost to serve as a learning and living place for gaian citizens. We are a neutral coorperation and we take an unaggressive and lawful position within the gaian world. We focus our learning in the combative arts and we have a focus on the physical martial arts.


What is Our Mission...?


Our mission is to make the best environment for the development of combative, romantic, and dramatic roleplaying. We strive to avoid OOC arguments at all cost and to make a role play in which we all tolerate each other. We strive to be different from the usual gaia guild and at the same time to serve as a welcoming role playing environment. Our mission is to create a team of fighters who are recognized not just in there hand to hand skill, but also in every field of role playing combat.

New Rules


  • IMPORTANT - You May start rping here without an application but if you want to participate in a lot of the special events and other things; please give me an application.


OOC Rules
  • Standard Gaia Terms of Service if you don't know them you probably shouldn't be here.
  • no Godmodding, Power playing, Etc. If used the user risked having there post and fight nixxed, and being banned.
  • Metaphysics can only be used by fighters who have had there profiles reviewed. All guest may not use metaphysics.
  • Literate Roleplaying only


IC Rules


  • All criminal offenses within the gym shall be dealt with by the gym.
  • No attacking a non-consenting person.
  • No arguing within the IC thread, take it to the OOC
  • Keep all OOC comments within the IC thread to a bare minimum.
  • Everyone has the right to teach but teachers are expected to teach.


Combat Rules

  • Sparring Match's

    • Sparring match's are simply live combat training between one with one or more partners. You cannot win a sparring match because it is simply for training purposes. If you are knocked out or submitted then you may simply get up and keep fighting until either partner agree's to stop.
    • In a sparring match the object is not to hurt your partner but to simply test out sparring techniques. If there is damage, that damage should be taken care of immediatly before continuing.
    • There needs to be an agreed consent of use of metaphysics or weapons within a sparring match. Non-cutting weapons are the only weapons which should be sued within a sparring match and no lethal metaphysics should be used.
    • Sparring match's have no time limit.
    • Match's involving metaphysics should only be used in designated areas.


  • Strictly Hand to Hand Match's

    • Strictly hand to hand match's can be held in any designated fighting area but they need to be held either in the boxing ring or the MMA cage.
    • A time limit that can and should be split up into multiple rounds should be agreed upon. The time limit of the match's should be in post numbers. In the last two post of the time periods both fighters should move back into there corners.
    • A fight can be won in three ways, knockout, submission or decision. A point system has not been agreed upon yet but one will be made.
    • A fighter submits if he taps out, this can either be by submission technique or throwing in the towel or ref stoppage.
    • At any time if a teacher see's fit he can call a ref. stoppage.
    • No weapons or metaphysics allowed.


  • Weapons Only Match's

    • Weapons match's should be done with wooden versions of each fighters weapon. However, with the agree consent of both fighters, live steel can be used. We take no responsability for your well being after that point.
    • Any would-be-lethal blow dealt with the wooden weapon yeields and instant win, otherwise the match's can be won the same way a hand to hand match would.
    • These match's should be held within the weapons training facility.
    • Firearms are permitted however, they need to be replaced by its corresponding airsoft gun and mask should be worn by both fighters.
    • Metaphysics are not permitted.


  • Freestyle Fights

    • Both the rules of the hand to hand and weapons match's hold but metaphysics are allowed. Still however in all situations ]b]killing your opponent is illegal
    • Only people with allowed profiles can participate in these match's.


  • Attacks by other guilds

    • Everything must be considered in the attack, including defenses and location. Keep in mind we are deep within a city.
    • No instant death attacks, meaning attacks that result in the instant destruction of the entire guild.
    • For the moment we are not open to attack.


  • Inter-Guild Challenges

    • If you really want to prove that your guild is the s**t, this is the way to go. Guild challenges are individual match's of varying rule sets agreed upon by the leaders of teams of 5. Gold shall be wagered on these challenges in incriments of 10,000. A team of judges shall be appointed to decide arguments that may result in OOC. The team that wins gets the money and the record of there victory against the other team.
    • These are presently not open.

Application Rules



  • Pre-made profiles, such as the kind people keep in journals are accepted.
  • All races are allowed, but dont be stupid with the whole half angel and half demon if your character already isnt of this common and cliche' race type.
  • All special abilities need to come with a price and be limited in there capabilities, they need to have explicit weakness's and explicit mechanics (or how do they work).
  • The number of known MA styles shoudnt be too much, especially if your character is very young.
  • Weapons can have metaphysical advantages however, they also need to come with a price if they do.
  • Keep the scientific weapons to a minimum.

_____ The gym is located in downtown Durem on 108 breakers street, across the street from the starbucks between the the gym owned apartment complex and parking complex. The gym can be reached easily by going to this location using the underground subway transit system because the gym is located in the inter-city area. The traffic is somewhat hectic moving into this area but it can be reached with relative ease during certain times of the day. This allows lots of public transit systems such as the bus or the intercity teleportation systems. The area we live in is a midtown metropolitian area while crime is big within the city, in this area it is relatively low in the upscale area.


_____The neighborhood is not a suburban one but most of the residents live in loft or apartment complex's. There are many business's in the city area, and the gaian university not too far away. Several gaian military and police agencies handle both the metaphysically and mundance crime within the city. Traffic fluctuates depending on time. There are many establishments surrounding the area to retrieve things such as groceries. The area is constantly being renovated, with new buildings and such. There are many upscale resturaunts in the area.


_____The area gets most of its electricity from underground and overground sources. The water system is ofcourse underground. We are in an area where the sattelite, radio and other such communications are strong. The cement in the area is stronger than the earthrealm city cement, ofcourse this being gaia most things that look modern enough are enchanted to be able to withstand much stronger things. While the city would appear to be just any other city things that are strange to earth realm cities such as people flying casually are very common but regulated by many of the individual guild and military factions of gaia.

External

Outside the gym is simply the sidewalk which leads you into the two small steps that lead you into the platfrom before the Double glass doors. On the side of these platforms is a small garden that greatly contrast with the modern setting. Above the doors are the gyms name in red cursive letters.

The gym seems very tall and as wide as a typical business building and appears to be able to easily house a gym. It has multiple floors with its outside built with a combination of marble stone treated with thin layers of carbon nanotubes and bullet proof fiberglass. Through the marble walls of the gym are its water systems which are kept in check by the gyms main operation computers, which regulate water pressure within the pipes.

The Gym

arrow The Foyer

The double bullet fiberglass window will automatically open by sensors in the floor pad. The dojo doors are always open. The lobby opens up to a foyer where there is a mat in which to dry ones feet if it is raining outside. Within the foyer are state of the art sensory tools that are composed of an artificial computer brain that uses a combination of psychokinetic & telepathy sensory perception to examine all things within the foyer that will alert a security guard all weapons that may pose a threat to the dojo's structure. Dont worry this will not go off on any member of the place but make sure if your visiting you dont appear threatening to the structure fo the dojo. Other than that, another glass door lets you into the lobby.

arrow The Lobby

The first thing when you open up into the lobby is white marble floors and a large marble desk were a security guard is supposed to be positioned at all times. He will pay you no mind if you are no threat to the dojo. However if you ask him a question he will certainly assist you in any way possible. To your left side of the large rectangular shaped room iounge area with scattered white sofa's and loveseats on a designer tapestry. In the corner of this room area is a flat screen telivision and a small glass counter in front of it with a remote and TV guide. To the right side of the room are the two elevators positioned on the side walls away from the entrance and to the right of that are the shelved stairs that raise up into the multiple floors of the dojo in the form of a winding staircase, that let you off on to each floor.

The elevators of the gym are controlled by a psychokinetic lifting generator and a back up standard cable lifting system that will automatically switch at the inactive state of the psychokinetic generator. The stairs are composed of wood.

arrow (Second Floor) The Stand Up Gym

The stand up gym appears to be the ideal MMA gym. At the center is the 4 cornered boxing ring of Standard ring size to the north of the boxing ring are the rows of variating bag equipment. With all kinds of boxing bags, including speed bags, muay thai bags, heavy bags, uppercut bags, etc. There is room for the bags to swing. The east side of the ring are the blue wrestling pads with standard white circles, the padding is very protective to make sure that no one gets hurt if they are slammed. To the south east corner is the MMA cage of UFC regulation size and padding. It is a carbon copy of the cage seen in the MMA tournament. On the souther side are the elevators that lead into the area, various bench's to sit on, and treadmills. To the southern west side are the entrance into the full size public restrooms, locker and shower areas.

arrow (Third Floor) The Weight Room

This is the weight room, which holds all kinds of state of the art weight lifting equipment you could think of. This holds everything from bench press's to leg press's, to dumbell wracks, to squat press's, to medicine balls, all types of weight machines. Im too lazy to go through and describe everything. Like the last room there is a public restroom, shower room, and locker room.

arrow (4th Floor) Gymnasium

Standard YMCA size gym that has the multicolored lines set out for any game of basketball and other such things. There are basketball hoops stored in the cealing and can be let down at any time. Around the wooden floored court is a full size nike track. There is a full size In the south east corner there is a room that holds all of the sports equipment, everything from gynastic equipment to volleyball equipment.

arrow Roof

The roof is an open air facility that was made to support both metaphysical combat and weapons combat. The Tatami mats are positioned in a square shaped field 25 feet across on all sides. This is higher than most of the buildings in the area so stray blast of metaphysical energies dont run the risk of hurting anyone and they allow for aerial training.

The Parking Complex

This parking complex is a rectangular shaped building with 4 garage shaped doors. With the proper authorization these garages can be opened to reveal a platform on which your car gan be parked on to. The platform is connected to a lever that holds other platforms around a center point. Every time you park, you are given an access code that code is what is needed in order for the machine to cycle around to your vehicle. These rotating platforms save space and make the building low to the earth.




Our financial Sources


  • Hundreds of NPC members use the dojo's workout facilities every day for a set fee. The fighters in the dojo however are able to become members free of pay.
  • The gaian power plants are extremmly cheap due to the availability of metaphysics.
  • We are a part of the Durem Public Coorperation.

History



Dawn of a New Era

About a year after the end of the Heaven or Hell 2008 Tournament, the gym that had once been known as 'Lu-Bu' had changed owners several times until it finally ended up in the hands of the Durem Public Coorperations hands and became a public facility. However despite the name change and the change to a public facility, the gym itself remained the same albeit without nearly free living spaces. The Gym is now looking to hire people or a few of its prestigious members into its teaching, trainer, and instructor positions.

Main Plot


We like many other commerce threads, rp in the world known as gaia which is very similar to the world that you see in the gaia map. It is composed as you know, mainly of mythical and legendary creatures, most of the creatures having powers of what we would consider very powerful beings but because everyone is so powerful everyone becomes relatively normal.

The lu-Bu gym, located in Downtown Durem, which is durems metropolitian area which is highly technologically advanced (considering many gaians still use swords as weapons of choice, meaning its more like a modern city). The gym is owned by a man named Sieg ecstuffuan who works as a personal trainer, proffesional fighter, and as a Property Owner (he owns lu-bu Gym, and three starbucks chains one is located across the street). The lu-bu team got 2nd place in this years heaven or hell tournament, making the lu-bu gym an extensively popular place.

With all the business flow coming in, sieg has enough capital to fund though's who would fight in lu-bu Gyms fighter stable which basicly means in gaia you represent us. As a price, you live for free in the apartments next door and you have access to Siegs fighters diet plan. You however must train here in mixed martial arts.

Sieg is also a holy man, one of gaia's few christian characters. However recently after Sieg found religion, beings known as the Orochi began to turn up who look and fight exactly like members of the lu-bu Gym. These Orochi have some connection to the 9 hells of baator or what you know as 'hell'.

Most recently (as in days), Durem was attacked by a giant demon possessed undead dragon which was defeated by members of the lu-bu gym and kensei (a militia police affiliation that Sieg is a member of, lead by matthew and kichiro.), this monster caused massive damage to the durem metro area and repairs are still going on but business is still good. This monster may have had a connection to the Orochi...

Kenji entered one of the many, many Starbucks in Durem. The door's bell rang as he opened the door. People sat quietly on their lap tops drinking coffee and conversing with one another. He was out of place here. He had tall spiked black hair, no shirt on, baggy, black jeans, and black combat boots. People gave him stares as he walked by.

They thought he was there to start trouble.

They thought he was there to kill innocent lives.

They thought wrong.

Kenji walked up to the cashier. She was a petite, brownette who nicely put on the greatest fake smile ever. She opened her mouth to speak, but Kenji was already talking.

"Where the hell is that new Lu Bu Dojo? I can't find it anywhere. I heard it was near a Starbucks. This is the twelth ********' Starbucks I graced myself in, pretty."

He ended his sentence and waited for her to speak back to him. He tapped his knuckles on the counter as she tried to think of what to say back.

"It's across the street of he other Starbucks sixteen blocks away, sir." She said in a frial and scared voice.

"Thanks. If I wasn't in such a hurry, I would bend you over this counter." He said as he left the Starbucks.
