Setting
The Juliano Manse is atypical of other dojos and stadiums. While other Arenas focus on dueling and battle, the Juliano Manse takes a large step back from that kind of violent and simple-minded view. This roleplay takes place on the entire lands of the Juliano Family, including their keystone Manse, which is centered directly in the middle of the rolling hills and forests of Italy. Also, note that this roleplay takes place on Earth and not Gaia. It is possible for a character to be from Gaia and be in this roleplay, so long as they somehow traveled from Gaia to Earth at some point.
Plains
Located in Northern Italy, the Juliano Lands are bordered above by Verona and below by the River Po. As travelers, pilgrims, and fighters from all over the world approach, they first have to travel through miles and miles of open grass with no roads or trails.
Forests
The roaming grasslands do come to an end, slowly mixing into a deep evergreen forest, populated mostly by Douglas Firs and Hemlocks. The further one travels through this, the thicker the canopy above becomes, eventually blocking out almost all light.
The Approach
Eventually, the thick overgrowth begins to clear up, until eventually they fade into grass once more. Upon emerging from the trees, though, the tall black monument that is the Juliano Manse shows itself, reaching for the Heavens and scratching the clouds with all of its centuries old glory. Just to the east of the large building is a lake, whose circumference belies its depth. Flanking the west side of the Manse is a small group of buildings, each with a specific purpose.
The Lake
The rocky beach that leads up to this body of water is quite flat and unlike the typical sandy beaches seen in magazines. It is only about three-hundred feet in diameter, more like a large pond. But the never-ending depths of the lake have never been recorded of explored...
Bazaar
The group of structures to the side of the Manse are currently empty and mostly uninhabited. Their purpose is for denizens of the Manse to set up their own shops, offering services and items alike.
Entrance
The Great Hall of the Juliano Manse has not been remodeled in four centuries. The Gothic architecture is quite present upon entering, with cherub paintings clogging the ceiling and gargoyle statues lining the walls. Twin staircases wind up story after story, fading into the upper levels of the ancient building. To the left and right are two long passageways, and between the dual steps that lead up is another set that goes down...
Basement
Literally hundreds of battles took place in this sacred hall over the last eleven months, and the place has undergone a whole new set of renovations. The eight pits have remained mostly unchanged, but now plasma television sets dot the walls, allowing fighters to view other matches and review their own brawls via a recorded CCTV system. The throne has been removed, and replaced with a buffet table. The punch is already spiked; don't bother.
Infirmary
There are two entrances to the Manse's medical wing, one is an express elevator that shoots up from the Basement below, and the other is via the right hallway upon entering the building. Inside, thousands of dollars of diagnostic equipment waits to be used, and both medical and magical physicians are on call to tend to the wounded.
Kitchen
The cooking area and dining quarters have been split into two distinct, yet connected, sections. One half serves as a convenience Cafeteria, allowing patrons to select from one of the day's Specials, or choose from a wide variety of vending machine treats, and then seat themselves as they please. The other half is a full-service kitchen with food replicators that allow all chefs to have access to the freshest ingredients they desire. Anyone may take advantage of this facility to try their hand at spaghetti, or to prepare a five-course meal.
Ballroom
Now that the Juliano Manse will be host to all sorts of galas rather than just Tournaments, the Ballroom has been completely redecorated. Crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling, lighting up the brilliant room. While the colors change with the seasons and events, the walls are typically a diamond yellow color when not prepared for a party. Guests are welcome to come and waltz, samba, or polka the night away, even when the place isn't hosting an event.
Chapel
Originally built as a Cathedral, it is no surprise that the Chapel is the largest room in the entire Manse, save the Basement. It takes up a good two-thirds of the Western wing. Statues of saints line the walls, with row after row of uncomfortable wooden pews filling up most of the empty space. A staircase will lead worshipers to the bell tower, which is access only. The Good Lord doesn't like strangers to ring His bell.
Tower
Rising high above all other pinnacles of the structure is the massive Juliano Tower, recently imported from the Orange Islands. Rather than be used for Pokemon battles, however, it now serves as an observatory for astronomers and casual stargazers alike. Hermits also welcome.
Conservatory
Connected to the Manse by a covered path, a large greenhouse sits out back. Inside are plants of various species and flora from all over the world. Botanists come in every now and then to check on things. Some darker corners of the place have become completely overgrown, and feral, flesh-eating species have a tendency to feed on the oblivious.
Graveyard
Hundreds of unmarked graves from the innumerable Italian civil wars of the 1600s litter the remainder of the Manse's backyard, a grim totem to the history of war. Some recent plots hold the remains of many a brave fighter who fell in the Basement. A Mausoleum kept under lock and key also houses the bodies of every fallen Juliano warrior. Stepping into this tomb without the blood of the memorable Family is considered treason in the highest degree, and is punishable by torture, public humiliation, and a slow, gruesome death.
Catacombs
It is said that this place of unimaginable horror is unreachable by physical means. The ties between the Nether World and our reality seems to wither in some parts of the Manse, and the Catacombs are the bridge that connect the two. Some more deluded berserkers of combat awake from a restful sleep, only to find that their twisted mind has somehow led them to this extra-dimensional plane.
The Vault
The Juliano Family of Mercenaries has been active for thirteen full generations, and has amassed more than monetary wealth in all that time. Spoils of war and relics of fallen empires are stashed away in this hidden place. It has been rumored that only one thief has ever even found the room, and she only barely escaped with her life.
Prison
This is not a jail as God intended it to be. There is only one door, and once someone has passed through it, they do not leave. Many people wonder if dragons still exist, and whatever happened to all of the all-powerful monsters and beasts of yore. Well, they were bad for a commercial market, and countries from all around the world threw cash at the Juliano Family to round them up. And now here they sleep. On occasion, challengers are allowed inside to battle a monster of their choosing. This is only after they have received written consent of the Master of the Manse themselves, and revised their wills.
Bedrooms
A warlord once housed his army here, and the massive barracks he built was remodeled two hundred years ago into personal living quarters. While it is a bit more upscale than the Bates Motel, the scandalous happenings of the dormitory-esque stylings rival modern soap operas in levels of drama and visible cleavage.
Library
Sharing the remainder of the Western wing with the Chapel, the Library is home to countless texts, many thousands of which are one-of-a-kind. Scrolls thought to be lost in the great fires of Rome are hidden here; the unparalleled amount of knowledge in this hall outstrips even the library of Alexandria. Of course, modern periodicals are also available for the more contemporary reader.
Plot
All over the world, young fighters strive to achieve the title of the world's greatest duelist. Many fall by the wayside in pursuit of their dream, and very few ever acquire it.
But, in this wide expanse of a world, can a man ever be called the Master of the fist? Maybe so. Riddle Juliano has reopened his Manse to the public, but this time it is more than a basement. The entire estate has been revamped and remodeled for public use, so that people from all around the world can come and live a new life, either imbibed in battle, or simply spend all of their time lackadaisically wandering around the gardens.

Owner - The person who owns the Manse; pretty self-explanatory. They will oversee all individual events run by the different GMs.
Second-in-Command - When the Owner is absent for a short or a long while, this person will be in charge.
Elites - Members who have proven their loyalty beyond normal bounds, earning a position close to the breast of the Manse. Consider them staff; honor and respect them as you would the Owner. Their authority encompasses that of all those below them, and they may also overrule the orders of a GM.
Justices - Members that have been promoted because of their cool head and level judgment. If there is a dispute between certain members of the roleplay that does not involve battle, these people will mediate and see to it that the situation is calmed down and brought to as happy an ending as possible. Their word is law; breaking it will be weighed as heavily as disobeying a direct order from the Owner.
Generals - Members that have been promoted because of their fierce ability in battle. They are allowed to judge disputes that have to do with individual affairs in battle, but cannot override the decision of a GM in their event.
Veterans - Members who have been around for quite some time, and who know how things work 'round here. No real position of authority; consider these folks good people to look to when you're lost.
Members - Regular members, most of you will probably be here; everyone will start here.

Rules
Member Guidelines
This post does not regard the members of this roleplay, but rather the members of Gaia. First and foremost, you all have to follow Gaia's Rules.
All members are bound by the Gaia Online Terms of Service and the Gaia Online Rules & Guidelines. That is all here. Additional guidelines for members of this roleplay specifically will follow.
Rules
Disobeying the rules may get you Blacklisted, told to GTFO, and then kicked the ******** out by Riddle himself.
1. No god-moding, or any such stuff. I really shouldn't have to say this.
2. You will not OoC troll in the roleplay. This includes 'baiting.'
3. If you have any problems, settle them in the ring or ask a Justice or another Staff member to intervene. We are here to help.
4. If you feel that you are being abused or mistreated by a Staff member, please talk to the leader (me). Be sure to give me a link and thoroughly explain your situation.
5. Keep things PG-13. That's a Gaian rule, so you should all already know that one.
6. Only the proven may ascend to the thrones. You may not think that some of the people on the White List deserve their position. There may be some Black Listers that you like. That's life; deal. You will, however, respect all Staff. They work hard to keep this place running. Incidents involving insults direct at them will be treated as insults directed at the owner of the roleplay.
7. PM your character submissions to Riddle Juliano if you want to become a member.
8. The following are not allowed in the Manse during battle: Meta-Physics, Atomic and Molecular Manipulation, Inexplicable and Dimensional Teleportation, Planar Psionics. Explanations are provided in the 'Roleplay Battle Tips' Post.
9. You will only be allowed to use what you state on your character profile in battle. If you do not claim that your character has such and such magic attack, they cannot use it.
10. While in the Juliano Manse, use the formal resolution system should you encounter a problem with another member. This consists of three simple steps: i) Try to work out the problem between yourself and the other member like civilized human beings. ii) If that fails, ask another member to mediate and try to solve the problem. iii) If the problem still cannot be resolved, contact a Justice or another Staff member and ask them to work out the problem. It is, however, best to just let the problem go.
Member Guidelines (cont'd)
These are not necessarily Rules, and won't be treated as such. These are simple protocol that should be followed while in the roleplay. Please, read as follows.
1. Those who are easily offended are bound to be offended easily. Take some things that people say in here with a grain of salt. I am pretty sure that the sorts of people in here are not out to get you, or trying to insult you personally. If you don't blow things out of proportion or exaggerate them, we can avoid many problems.
2. The flip side of the coin goes to everyone else. If you cross a line and someone calls you on it, apologize, even if you don't mean it. From there, simply move on and do not stay stuck on that one thing. After all, it all means very little in the end. Don't get all hung up just because someone was offended by something you said on an online game. Say you're sorry and move on.
3. While not required, intelligent posting is appreciated.
4. I am completely aware that I, Riddle Juliano, have made as many enemies as friends. There are many people out there who constantly dog me and what I do. Fun fact: I am human with many flaws and drawbacks that I admit to. But none of you are forced to be here. If you have a problem with this place and/or what goes on in it, then you're not welcome here. Take your nay-saying elsewhere, for it is not appreciated nor wanted within these walls.
OoC Disambiguation
Posting pure and simple OoC in the Manse is not tolerated by any means. This is a roleplay thread, and unless the OoC post is absolutely urgent (i.e., you have to leave right away, you are editing a post, etc.) they are not to be made in solitude. However, you may pair a tidbit of OoC, whether it be greetings or attack clarification, with a relevant and coherent IC post. Failing to do so will result in warnings, temp-bans, and finally perma-bans for those who can't seem to grasp the concept.
Character Sheet
If you are only going to be roleplaying with this character, then you only need to fill out the following form through the History/Personality section. If you will be battling or battling and roleplaying with them, then please fill the form out in its entirety, being as clear and detailed as you feel you need to be. Battlers also need to keep their profiles in a place that can be publicly viewed, whether it is a public Journal or a link out to another website. PM this form to Riddle Juliano when you have completed it. You may post without receiving confirmation, but you may not battle.

You've never seen them before, and can tell they are not of Sieg's Church. The one on the right of you is a pretty, blonde female, but with a glazed over look in her eyes. The one on the left is a tall, muscular man, but he too has the same look.
"Greetings, friend, and may Gospel bless you!' said the female, as they both bowed to you. " Please, come see The Church of Gospel, it's a very good decision.....Maybe the Father can do wonders for you, as well......" she finishes, as she hands you a mass-produced map to the church, which seems to be out in the woods near the Juliano Manse.....maybe you should check it out?

Roleplay Battle Tips
On Basics
Roleplay fighting is bound by a very simple and flexible set of standards and practices. Like normal roleplay, it is turn-based, so fighters attack one after another in succession. The goal of the fight is to try and inflict as much damage onto your opponent as you can, while still managing to survive yourself.
Before we delve into the rest of the matter, we need to cover the rock hard foundation of rules that helps us all get along. Here is an example of a post that is not allowed:
n00b
Robert looks at his opponent straight in the eye and laughes. Quickly, he rushes towards his foe, and in three slashes of his swords, cuts him across the chest, so that he is bleeding all over.
That's what we call an auto-hit, and it is a big no no in all forms of battle. Here's an example of what that post would look like if it were legal:
Intelligent Fighter
Laughing to himself as he looks over his opponent, Robert readies himself for his attack. Rushing towards his enemy, he delivers three quick blows at his opponent's chest, trying to injure him badly.
Notice the difference? You attempt to deal damage to your opponent. Ultimately, attacking is all about being creative and trying to exploit your enemy's weakness. What about defending and countering, though? Well, here's an example of what not to do:
n00b 2
Thomas jumps out of the way of all your sword slashes before you even begin to strike, and then stabs you in the head with his pike.
No, no, no, no, no! Dodging is okay, but doing it all the time to every part of every attack makes the fight boring, and will probably get you kicked out [it will in my threads, at least]. Also, even though your opponent is close, you can't just stab them in the face. That's still considered an auto-hit. Here is a good example of something you could do:
Experienced Fighter
Thomas saw the slashes coming and jumped back, trying to evade them. Unforunately, the tip of Robert's sword managed to strike his right shoulder with the first slash, a small wound forming in his flesh and slowly bleeding. Thinking quickly, Thomas drew his pike back and thrust it towards Robert's face in an attempt to finish the match prematurely.
On Health, Mana, Power
Okay, so when it comes to 99.9% of lifeforms, they have two different forms of energy. Health and Mana. Health, well, that's pretty obvious. The strength with which you can swing a sword, the keeness of your vision, how many hits you can take before going down, etc. Mana is the opposite of this, sort of. How quickly you can cast a fireball, the intensity of your magic, how many magic spells you can cast before running dry, etc.
When it comes to things like robots and androids (cyborgs are a different story), they have one form of energy, Power. This is a sort of combination of both Strength and Mana. Remaining Power and how power is directed will determine a number of things, including, but not limited to, locking on, firing missles, attacking, defending, repairing, transforming, etc. This can be in the form of a battery or a nuclear core or the like. When it runs dry, the robot is down and out.
On Phy, Spi, Men
[ Just Another Face ]
The best way I know to explain it is in percentages.
Most players divide their characters up on three things subconsciously. The three primary statistics for a fighter of any kind is Physical, Mental, Spiritual.
If you are mostly focused on Physical, you will find that your body is a well toned machine, capable of taking a great deal and dishing out just as much. With physical being your primary concern, you'd find that your body won't be affected by magic, where as mental powers would blow you to bits.
Spiritual powers give you an extreme connection to your body and soul without touching any kind of physical training. This gives you magical ability to turn psi fighters into minced meat, but a warrior will turn you into a hackey sack.
Mental power simply means that you are so focused in your mind that you can manipulate the world around you with thought. As such, you can turn the physical fighter into a child at your feet, but because magic is, in fact, intangible, you can't touch it.
Combining this or that would seriously drain that sort of statistic. Like... A Phy/Spi would be able to throw flaming punches, but would crumble under intense pressure of mental power. Spiritual and Mental warriors are outstanding against most things, but a single hit would turn this guy into a grave filler. Mental and physical fighters are great too, but they really can't touch magic. It hurts them. Bad.
Yep.

On Magic
Rosa Vernal
Magic is one of several main sources of supernatural powers.
The origin of magic is generally considered use of an external, as opposed to internal, force; whereas spiritual and psionic powers come from internal powers, be it a soul, the body's natural energy, your mind, etc. The source of magical energy is referred to commonly as "mana", "aether", or various other terms.
While there is an internal part of it (that which makes the magic under your control), most magic-users channel from some other source, manipulate the ambient mana, etc, only expending enough of their own to control and guide the effects. In theory, one could, over time, have an infinite amount of mana, and be able to cast or weave a seemingly unlimited amount of spells with minimal expenditure of one's "personal" mana; however, the dedication needed to be able to do so is rarely found except in pure mages or powerplayers.
For the most part, there is a focus and ritual required in using magic (an object, incantation, sacrifice, gesture, etc) to achieve the desired results - in Harry Potter, for example, the focus to use magic, in general is a wand, and the ritual is saying a verbal component. On Gaia, you're likely to see someone shouting out a spell, making a certain motion with their hands, charging up magical power, and you may even see a few people using material components such as blood or gems to express their magic. Yet another common focus is an enchanted weapon. Note, however, that this is not always needed.
On Gaia, most people appear to be "will" casters, meaning that it is a matter of willpower to perfom magic and cause the effects. This means that even without the familiarity of a ritual or use of the external force, one can perform magic using only their willpower and the limited internal supply. Likewise, it is possible, although draining, to perform feats of magic that have not been learned specifically. It is generally frowned upon to do with things that your character has no experience in - for example, a magic-user focused on mainly offensive powers should not be able to regenerate with no experience or training in those areas. However, it is slightly more reasonable for that magic-user to use an offensive spell like a fireball into something defensive, such as a wall of fire.

On Rule #9
Metaphysics: Attempting to explain away actions which are ultimately magical but with scientific words, anime physics, etc., in order to make attacks and abilities that are considered a God-mode believable and 'legal.'
Atomic and Molecular Manipulation: Anything that has to deal with manipulating the structure or components of atoms or molecular structures. This includes microscopic nanobot alterations. FMA-style transmutation, D20 style negative energy, and forms of telekinesis are not counted as atomic or molecular manipulation. Lycanthropes and other forms of shapeshifters are not considered as manipulation.
Inexplicable and Dimensional Teleportation: Instant phasing between realities, dimensions, universes or planes of existence, moving at the speed of light, etc. A time build up for a teleportation spell, at least equal to how long it would take you to cover the ground you want to travel would be allowed; doing so instantly is not counted as inexplicable/dimensional teleportation; likewise, ritual teleportation is exempted.
Planar Psionics: Anything that involves using the powers of the mind to override the laws of reality on a large scale, create new planes of existences, dimensions, universes; bring in extraplanar materials, or other such actions that are in the realms of what deities can perform.
Clarification on Ring-Outs: Leaving the arena in any way, shape, or form (excluding the methods defined under the teleportation rule) results in a loss via ring-out. No burrowing more than ten feet below arena floor, and no jumping, hovering, or flying higher than three hundred feet. Should a fighter be driven through the floor/walls more than ten feet or thrown higher than three hundred feet into the air by his or her opponent, said opponent is awarded the win via ring-out.
