Mordath was the very first Fa'e to be reborn on Gaia, and is the reincarnation of Lanuccus: a powerful unseelie fey lord who had aspirations to rule all of the feyrealm. However, things went very wrong in his attempt, resulting in his death, and the deaths of Titania and Raeith's past life as a Kirin at his own hands.

He is and was a very powerful mage. Most of his magicks are learned and he has quite the repoitoire. His innate magics are primarily limited to shadowmancy (other than possessing an immense magickal aura) and are a result of his bond with Sabin Duvert, the half-anju.

These are the few objects that Mordath considers his sacred possessions...
And some of the few items I had still backed up

Mordath's most sacred possession - His combined spellbook and diary - from this life and the last. It is heavily warded to anyone save him, and its writing is magical - opening up automatically to whatever he wishes to read, the words themselves formed of shadow and rearrange themselves on the page at his whim.

Tslanak - Mordath's loyal familiar, whose soul is bonded by and influenced by Mordath - thus taking the form of a shadowy wolf with red eyes. He trusts him implicantly as it is nearly an extention of himself. Currently, Tslanak is off serving his purposes in the feyrealm - serving as his retainer.

Mordath's wand. While he does not need a magickal focus very often - disliking crutches, it is powerful device when needed, and tied to him.

Vernico: One of the only "pets" Mordath keeps, an exquisite young male unicorn whom he has passively been rearing to use as a glorious mount one day. It was a gift so long ago from Raeith, and he feels almost guilty in still caring for it, however it is this gift above all else that he could not bear to cut himself from. The unicorn bears his colors and has strong nerves. He has dreams of riding him in his return to glory in the feyrealm - when he announces himself formally.

PurrPurr: Mordath was raised with her as if she was a sister, but much was uncovered detailing their intricate past together as star-crossed lovers. Mordath still sees her as his closest and oldest friend, and one of the only ones who has remained true to him and kept his heart from hardening completely in response to the betrayals that secured his initial prejudice that Love is a weakness. As a desperate act to help her cope in some way with the bitter life that nearly drove her to suicide, Mordath used his magic to revert her - physically and mentally - back to a child. He now cares for her very strongly as a protective older brother.

While Mordath has not seen Silver in some time, he still has the bond with him that Silver, in another life, was his loyal familiar. He has not seen him in some time, however.

Mordath had a kind smile for Raeith since she was quite young, and when it was revealed that she had been the Kirin that had trusted him, and unwittingly given her life for him to attempt a spell to make him ruler of the unseeline courts in his past life, he realized why. He had never intended for the spell to kill her; the spell he had acquired from the wizard Arkoth was flawed and in fact helped out Arkoth both in indirectly killing the king who was bonded to the Kirin as well as testing a spell that he himself hoped one day to cast when it was complete. When it became obvious that Raeith had stronger feelings for Mordath than he himself did for her (still of the mindset that a realtionship like that would only lead to pain) they had a messy fight and have not really spoken since.

Astaroth, for the longest time, was Mordath's closest friend, lover, and he felt the only other Fa'e that could truly understand him and his goals. They were both powerhungry and unafraid to "break a few eggs" as it were, and very much darker of nature. Mordath thought that he had finally found a TRUE ally and companion - someone to rule side by side over each of their domains - they feyrealm and Hell.... until he was betrayed - striking him very deeply and bringing up memories of his failure in his past life. He is lividly furious with Astaroth - the "weakness" of love opinion that he had before his memories were fully awakened now completely reawoken. However, that "weakness" is probably the main thing keeping him from feelings of vengeance - that and the memory of just how BADLY he had screwed even that attempt in his past life.

Mordath has had a very on-again, off-again relationship with Morion, his childhood closest friend. Originally inseperable, they were separated by Morion and PurrPurr's relationship which removed both of them from interaction with him. Morion was never the same again after he woke up to relationships - losing interst in the academic which was the initial bond they had met over and striking up knightly ideals that bored Mordath. Things repaired for a while until he betrayed PurrPurr's relationship, and his protective sibling bond flared in anger. When it happened again, Mordath no longer has any patience for the Blue Dragon - despite the oath of friendship sworn when they were so young...

AKA: A brief summary of what has happened to Mordath since his old diary got eaten by Gaia

  • First off - Check out PurrPurr's First Diary for many RP's that either directly or indirectly involve Mordath.
  • Mordath was the first Fa'e discovered by Anya and Airi, and entrusted to an old friend, Sabin Duvert. Like all of the Fa'e - they must bond to a guardian in order to exist in this realm - their ancient, powerful spirits unable to thrive by themselves in Gaia - and even then only living for a short time.
  • Mordath was always a dark child, and one of the first "friends" he made was with his "sister", PurrPurr. Sabin and Kamiki had been in a relationship since before his emergence, and it made sense that he and her Fa'e, PurrPurr would be raised like siblings. However they did not get along well from childhood - Mordath always did something to anger her or scare her - while ignorant of what he was doing to do so at first, he almost began to enjoy it until he became older.
  • Mordath and Purr's Playdate
  • Soon, Mordath began to meet other Fa'e - the closest friends of which was Morion, a blue dragon child who had an intelligence beyond his young age. Morion shared Mordath's thirst for knowledge (even if it didn't quite have the same darker turn as Mordath's interests).
  • As children, Mordath and Morion plot to infiltrate the ancient and giant Library in Gaia in order to try to discover more about the nature of the Fa'e and their link. Morion had been discovered in the library and so it stood to reason perhaps this library held clues. There, after discovering a secret passageway and a room that housed a couple of shelves of mysterious, arcane items, they found a book covered in blue dragonscale, and a book cold and dark and crackling with magickal energy that seemed to speak to Mordath. With these items in their possession, they stole away back to their homes to try to decipher the meanings behind them.
  • Miracle of Miracles, the Library trip was in Smoke's old diary starting HERE and stretches several pages.
  • Sabin had been overprotective of Mordath, and had not been in Gaia for very long, trying to protect Mordath from the arcane - having had bad expierences in it himself and wanted to give Mordath the chance to live a normal childhood. However, there were not many fa'e at the time, and Sabin did not know fully just what they were. Mordath burned for knowledge, for magic even more so than Sabin himself did as a child. And just as Sabin had done, he went behind his parent's back and studied himself.
  • Mordath had also made a few other friends: Silver (and his guardian David) and Astaroth, another dark young fa'e- literally a demon - who had access to libraries of magickal books whom he had begun to visit and study at great length. However, a closer bond grew with Astaroth - who was of similar mind when it came to goals of power and unafraid to turn to the darker sides of things.
  • The book he had taken was full of spells, but it was also... locked in a way, sealed from him. It frustrated him to no end as he realized just how powerful it was and how personal. In his room one night, a page opened up to him and revealed to him a spell to summon a familiar.
  • Mordath cast the spell, summoning forth Tslanak - A shadowy wolf with red eyes who seemed utterly loyal to him.
  • What Mordath didn't know was that the book was in fact his diary and personal spellbook from his previous life, and just as Mordath's memories were unaccessable (literally locked away from him as one last spell in death) the book itself was locked, and contained a piece of his soul. It had been found ages ago by the corrupt wizard Arkoth who had in a way "trapped" the book for when Mordath DID return - putting enough of himself into it to trap the familiar spell and link himself as a controller to Mordath.
  • The shadowy wolf led him to what Mordath craved: a teacher.
  • However the teacher, Arkoth, was merely manipulating Mordath for his own gains. With Tslanak, he had a being that was a piece of Mordath's soul - and thus could get past the wards at the library. He got the book from MOrdath under the pretense of studying it for spells to teach him and unlocking it for him, and controlled Tslanak, using it to venture back into the library to steal two more relics: PurrPurr's Journal from when she was Titania, and Raeith's horn.
  • PurrPurr started to get very sick, and Mordath started to act very strangely, being indirectly controlled by Arkoth. Link to related RP
  • Mordath falls more into Arkoth's clutches. He plans on draining the energy from Mordath, PurrPurr and the Kirin Raeith to cast the spell that he had sold the "preliminary" and flawed version to Lanuccus (Mordath's past life). Supposedly, the first spell would bond the Kirin to the caster - igniting it's ability to make them ruler. That failed spell is what set off Lanuccus's downward spirial, and what the ancient mage Arkoth had been working all these years to perfect - seeing the results (and how it could be repaired) from Lanuccus's casting of the unfinished spell.
  • Mordath meets young Raeith - a young Ki'rin - and shows her a kindness uncommon to others. He can't resist the young girl's innocent charm and acts very brotherly to her. Feeling a connection.
  • Sabin and Kamiki and Smoke and some others return to the library to discover the problems.LINK HERE
  • Astaroth is upset at Mordath's closeness to Purr, and they talk about it afterwards
  • Finally, Arkoth is confronted by all of them, and killed - PurrPurr's health returned and the link of control reversed - freeing Mordath and untainting his now honestly loyal familiar, Tslanak. The Battle
  • As PurrPurr was becoming ill, however, certain of her memories were awakening - fueling the passion of Mordath to discover his own. It burned within him that his memories were undiscovered - that so many other Fa'e remembered WHO they were in the past - and were powerful entities - the jealousy and feelings of insignificantness blossomed and he endeavored to learn more.
  • (not sure when exatly) PurrPurr and Morion become a couple and Mordath is upset - his two closest friends are removing themselves more and more from his presence. Mordath reiterates repeatedly how he things that a relationship is for the weak - that it opens onesself up for hurt and vulnerability. This is a shield he has on him - a part of the final spell he had cast to wipe his memories and try to protect himself from hurt in the next life.
  • Mordath discusses with Silver - who is the reincarnation of many lives - one of which was the time as MOrdath's familiar. Transcript and here.
  • Mordath assists Astaroth on his Teen Quest - journeying with him to Hell itself and combating fiends. However, in this point, Mordath has the feeling of insecurithy that his closest friend Astaroth (and borderline lover) has the entire realm of Hell as his birthright... whereas he can't even remember his past.
  • Mordath attends the Prom, and learns from Airi of the choice all fa'e must make: to become ancients and regain their powers, or to settle down and raise children, giving up their own power to create the child and become mortal. He meets Airi and realizes she might be able to help him.
  • Mordath also... secures his "bond" with Astaroth - officially becoming a couple - and expierencing his first sexual encounter with him that night. .
  • Mordath is confronted by a furious Raeith - who apparently harbored feelings towards him he did not know. Mordath is upset for her assuming things he never felt he implied and then having the gall to be upset at HIM.
  • Knowing that he was connected to Titania, and that his name was Lanuccus, he is able to do some research into his past through ancient books from the library about the faeryrealm. However, it is only snippets of knowledge, and not firsthand.
  • Mordath goes to Airi to try to get his memories back, and realizes that he may have bitten off more than he could chew as his Memories are unlocked
  • Mordath has a flood, a lifetime of memories to deal with, and the bitter story of a plot, a love, gone terribly wrong: An unedited version of his long past and plans.
  • Mordath has a much-needed discussion with PurrPurr
  • Mordath reclaims the spellbook - now unlocked and studies hard, endeavoring now to fix the mistake he had made before - and to reclaim and build on the magick he knew in the past. To return to the feyrealm and this time SUCCEED in taking over and uniting the unseelie court (And still perhaps take over the seelie as well - reigning over the entire feyrealm). TO be Astaroth's true equal, and join forces in a truly unmatchable union.
  • Mordath and PurrPurr return to fa'e to find out what has happened in their absence. Their arrival and Here.
  • Mordath sets wheels into motion - securing his old allies, finding out what has happened to the land he had amassed, and sending Tslanak into the shadowy networks to stir up rumors, unite old allies and make new ones. He also realizes that perhaps his new innate shadowmancy thanks to his bond with Sabin might come in very useful here, perhaps even Sabin himself if he is willing. Realizing that one particular powerful lord, Meravyn, who had resisted him before had taken most of his land in his absence - and at least was a united front. OF course, with his land he had also taken in many of his loyal servants, and he set wheels into motion starting with his most dedicated servant, Pirvan, to undermine Meravyn from the inside.
  • Mordath contacts a rather lusty Astaroth via magic mirror while in fey, and gives his apologies - that time functions differently there - running much more slowly compared to the goings on in Gaia - that a week in the feyrealm could be months in Gaia. But, that he is nearly complete in his setup, and then could return to Gaia for some time as the settings up he is doing need time to finish before personally making his next move.
  • Contacted by an upset PurrPurr after a realizing Oberon has a new queen (after he sleeps with her again) - they return to Gaia, to find that Kamiki and Sabin have moved in together, Morion has returned, and much had happened.

Mordath sat at the familiar wooden desk, a quill wet with fresh ink in his hands and staring at the book that had become so close to himself over these many months - it was literally an artifact that had contained a part of his very soul, his old diary from his last life. Ironic, he thought, that this one had survived over the centuries, magickally locked from prying eyes, but intact. However, a simple move that had occurred when he was off securing his future domain in the feyrealm had lost his journal of THIS life. So many memories, Mordath lamented. He wished that he had had the foresight to pick up from where he left off months ago when he realized what it was that was in his possession instead of trusting his most sacred of private thoughts to a very mundane book. Mordath muttered, images playing over in his mind about what might have happened to the journal. He knew that Sabin had tried to be careful with the move - but he couldn't help but feel a bit of resentment towards him. Of ALL the things that had to get lost....and deep down, quietly Mordath couldn't help but harbor the suspicion that perhaps the loss hadn't been entirely unintentional - a jab at his long absence.
He looked around at his "new" room - He didn't see why he needed to be evicted from his old room - certainly he didn't spend much time there anymore, but it was HIS. Admittedly, it was larger, and the room he had been given originally had been intended for a child.... but it would take a while to redo the wardings around THIS room.

Sabin had been glad to see him, verily enough - if not a bit surprised. There was a lot of catching up, and he could tell that Sabin felt at the very least a bit intimidated by the scale of Mordath's plans - feeling a bit out of touch with things - since coming to Gaia Sabin had been living a much simpler life than he seemed to indicate from his "glory days".

He ran a dusky hand through his crimson hair with a sigh as he picked up the quill again and began to write. Since he had reclaimed his old memories from that life so long ago that had remained locked from him for so long, Mordath began to cherish his memories - hold to them tightly as precious, slippery things. IT seemed ironic that the "backup" of his memories from this life had also been lost.
He wanted to go see Astaroth badly, but the compulsion to make this life "safe" as well compelled him to first sit down and scribe out an account of what had happened to him over these few years to the best of his recollection before anything else might happen.

Sabin
Mordath took a deep sigh and stretched his wings as he headed down the strangely nostalgic pathway towards Astaroth's residence. Had it really been so long since he had seen the dusky demon? Things had recently gotten so... complicated. The plots and plans in fey were buzzing in his mind, and he almost had to remind himself one of the major reasons he was doing it in the first place - the last thing he wanted to be was a weakness, a lesser than an equal in this relationship. He looked up at the familiar manor and lifted the knocker, rapping a few times on the door as he clasped his hands behind his back.

Kali
Emerging from the shower, Roth cursed as he heard someone knocking at the door. Kali would be too immersed in her work to bother getting it, especially knowing that he was here. Quickly throwing on pants and a simple white shirt, he teleport himself to the door to open it.

"Whatever it is, I'm about to leav- Mordath," Roth paled, stepping back in surprise. "You're back... I was going to stop by your place later today."

Was Mordath here simply to see Roth after returning? Had he perhaps heard of Roth's behaviour at prom? Was it just coincidence? The demon wasn't sure how to react and instead came off as nervous.

Sabin
Mordath raised his eyebrows and turned a smile to the still-dripping fiend, silently pleased to have caught his lover in such a state.

"Ah.... heading out so soon, Astaroth?" Mordath's voice practically rolled out of his throat in a purr. "I have not been back for long - and my apologies for not stopping by sooner, but 'Father' was rather... pleased to see me and refused to let me leave again without a very extended explanation."

Kali
Closing his eyes, Roth savoured the sound of Mordath's purring 'bedroom voice'. As usual, it effected him in all the right ways, but this time it also caused a churning in his stomach. How could he have ever thought anything else would make him feel the way Mordath could? Was this to be the last time he'd hear those deep, velvet tones?

"You look good- well," he corrected himself hastily, taking in Mordath's older body. Although he'd seen the youth in the mirror, it didn't have the same effect as seeing him in person. Mordath was regaining even more of his Lordly presence, something that Roth couldn't help admiring and desiring...

Turning away, Roth motioned with an arm. "You should come inside. We should talk..." He didn't deserve to covet Mordath with his eyes like that. It was too tempting to put off their talk, and he wanted- no, needed - Mordath to hear this right away, so his lover wouldn't hate him for hiding the truth.

Sabin
Mordath was obviously surprised by this blunt reaction, the coldness and the restraint behind his mannerisms. While Mordath had little expierence in this life, the fated words "We should talk" never indicated a positive topic of conversation. His eyes narrowed and his posture shifted from powerfully (and dangerously sexy) shadowing over Roth to a more guarded stance. It had been quite a while for Roth since his departure... which left much room for bad things to have happened.... but what? Mordath tried not to let concern show on his face, sliding into the room with the grace of a natural leader, the noise his robes made - a soft shuffling along the floor behind him - the only sound he created.

As he was inside he turned again to Astaroth. "The tone of your voice suggests that things have not gone quite so .... 'good' in my absence...." He left the phrase hanging, exerting a subtle pressure on the smaller individual before him.

Kali
Pain flashed across Roth's face for a brief moment. Why did he have to say this? Why had it ever happened? If only he hadn't been so weak... he wasn't worthy to be the equal of this youth before him.

Perhaps it was best to be direct. Bracing himself, he straightened and looked Mordath in the eyes for the first time since his arrival. "I slept with Morion after prom," he said softly, strain showing around his eyes. "It wasn't planned - I don't know if it was even me. It felt like something, someone, else in my body. But it happened..."

Crossing his arms to hug himself, Roth looked away again. "I would never plan to hurt you. I didn't want you to hear it elsewhere though..." he trailed off.

Sabin
Mordath was prepared to hear that the legions of hell had risen up against their master and were breaching the borders of Gaia, or that something unfortunate had happened to Kalindara and Astaroth's life-force was threatened, or that the sky was falling.... but this?? A trechery of Astaroth's own volition?? And with one of his oldest friends?? HOW? WHY?

Mordath realized that the shock was uncharacteristically showing on his face, slowly being replaced by a simmering anger as a snarl rose to his lips. His voice, no longer the weak whisper that it had been up to his teenage "years" rolled forth like thunder "YOU WHAT?! With... MORION?" He couldn't seem to put the two "pieces" together in his mind. It made no sense. PurrPurr - after all of her pain, had come back here to try things again with the same blue dragon... the demon that he had returned to and intended on Sharing his power with.... he shook his head, words not seeming to reach his lips. Memories of the previous "betrayal" of his former life boiled in his mind, of the pain that love had caused then, that he had sworn off of in this life - the virtual block he had put on that emotion until he had unlocked his memories, and the scorn that he had held for it for the longest time - finally deciding to give it another chance. With a bitter growl, his wings trembling "I knew it.... There is no POINT to such an emotion other than to open onesself up for PAIN"

Kali
"That's not what...!" Roth involuntarily protested, before dropping his outstretched arm. Letting his legs give out, he fell to the couch, head lowered.

Did Mordath really think he would do something like this on purpose? Roth had never loved anyone before either.

"I don't know why it happened," he grated out, pain evident in his voice and earnest eyes. "There was a battle and it was like I couldn't calm down. My skin was itching, I was burning up... it was like someone else was wearing my body... and I looked for you."

Running hands through his hair, Roth felt a stinging in his eyes and tried to blink it away. "I remember needing you... and then I don't remember much at all. I would never have chosen this on my own."

"I..." Roth hesitated. They'd never been all that open with their feelings, never been easy with words. "I love you. Please don't think that changed. Even if I don't deserve your feelings any more..."

Sabin
Mordath swallowed his words back into his throat as he watched Astaroth like a man accused. His heart cried out in anger and betrayal, the emotions seeming to be twisted and confused with memories of emotions of a life long past. The red of his eyes seemed to edge into his vision in his haze of anger.

"Do not think that I do not know the emotion of lust, Astaroth." Mordath spat condescendingly. "Do you not think that the same temptations, the same emotions have not come onto this body in my absence? That thoughts of temptation, that thoughts of longing for you have not crept into my thoughts over these months? But did I ONCE betray the pact that we shared? No. I thought you a stronger man than that."

Kali
Roth flinched, stung. "I thought I was, too," he whispered. "I thought I was doing well... Apparently not."

Perhaps it was not the bes time to mention that Roth didn't think what had happened to him was entirely natural. Mordath's rage was well-deserved and Roth was willing to endure it.

"You're right," he said, moving in front of Mordath and staring him in the eyes. "I betrayed you. I hurt you. I can't take that back and I won't deny it. Your anger is justified." Slowly he raised his arms out from his sides. "I won't stop you if you need to hurt me back."

Twisted as it was, Roth had been raised in two lifetimes on strict rules. If someone hurt you, you hurt them back. If you sullied someone else's honour, you sacrified your own. He just didn't know if there was anything that could make up for what he'd done.

Sabin
Mordath growled at the offer that Astaroth presented. "I do not take pleasure in inflicting pain in those I care about." What Mordath didn't complete is the thought that it just caused HIM more pain - thinking back to the act of desperation he took against Purr - no - Titania in that previous life that seemed so close to him now.

"If I cannot trust you to hold your end, Astaroth - to even maintain control of your own emotions..." He paused, trying to breath and extracate some of the anger that was boiling into his voice, his usually palpable aura now a virtual maelstrom around him "Then how am I to trust you in the future? How if we must rule in separate realms for spans of time? What if someone were to use such a ploy against you? Against US?"

Kali
Frustrated, Roth tried to wrap his mind arond Mordath's way of thinking. They'd always seemed to close in temperament and belief, but because they'd started in opposite directions and were working their way to the middle they often missed each other.

"Do you really think I'll let this happen again?" he demanded. "I'm going to fix this, I really am! I'll find out why it's happening and make it stop. How can you have so little faith in me?"

Yes, so he'd betrayed Mordath. But he was sorry. That counted for something, right? It seemed as though the demon really couldn't begin to understand the complex emotions of others who were far more familiar with love and betrayal.

Sabin
"How am I supposed to know it won't happen again" Mordath countered. "I had no expectations it was going to happen the FIRST time - and with the way you are speaking about being so little in control of your own emotions that you had no ability to stop yourself from SLEEPING with my old friend? An individual who had fallen out of favor with me on several occasions already?!"

Kali
Roth sighed. "I cannot argue against you. As you say, my words will prove little. I shall prove to you that I'm serious about stopping this, then."

He was woefully ignorant about any kind of fued between Mordath and Morion. Hadn't the blue dragon been speaking about Mordath as his brother?

"I don't know your history. Would it have been better if I'd slept with a complete stranger?" he raised an eyebrow. Any logic in that particular argument failed him. He blinked. "Horse-boy did keep trying to force his way past Morion to get me..."

Sabin Duvert
Roth's comment about the option of having slept with someone who Mordath knew even less did not seem to quell his temper in the slightest - to the contrary the thought of Astaroth having made a conscious choice to sleep with "the lesser of two evils" seemed to him to indicate that Astaroth must have very much been in the right frame of mind. "Oh, I see now. You must consider yourself quite the prize, Astaroth - to have had not one but two other men fawning after you - how noble of you to have chosen to only repay affections on one that was a friend of mine. I know not of this 'horse boy', but if you resisted his affections than he either must not have superficially attractive enough to be a target of this apparently overpowering lust or you did in fact have enough sanctity of mind to realize what you were doing in the FIRST place." Mordath fumed.

"And once again I pose this question to you, Astaroth - How can I believe the words you say now about not sharing yourself with others when you have already done so full well KNOWING what you were doing in the first place? I simply cannot understand this"

kalindara
Roth scowled. "I didn't say he succeeded. There was no conscious choice on my part, apart from my first thoughts being of you."

He sighed and dropped his head into hands. "I'm going to find out what caused this, Mordath... whether you believe me or not. And I'm going to stop it. If you can't believe that until you see it, then I will simply show you."

A prize? Him? Roth shook his head. He'd never felt more worthless in his life. A test of willpower had come along - and he'd failed, miserably. In a low voice, he said, "I don't deserve you... I know that."

Mordath raised an arched eyebrow "No conscious decision on your part that you did not sleep with him as well?" Mordath spat an expletive in some strange, darkly musical language.

"Find out all you wish, Astaroth." Mordath spoke, his voice now taking on a cold, withdrawn tone. The seething anger turning to a bitter, betrayed whisper as he crossed his arms and turned back towards the door.

Knowing he deseved Mordath's anger and disgust, Roth didn't push the issue further. He stood still as Mordath walked away, unable to believe that this might be the end, yet equally unable to do anything else. He couldn't force Mordath to forgive him, couldn't even ask for it - he knew how he'd feel if their positions were reversed.

"I am sorry," he whispered, knowing that it would likely mean nothing. Perhaps they were too alike after all - in their tempers, their capacity to hold grudges.

He had lost Mordath -- and had only himself to blame.

Mordath was fuming as he stalked away from Kalindara and Astaroth's house. The NERVE, the unloyalty! One of the main reasons he had taken the excursion to the feyrealm had been to secure his position as a leader of the same calibre as Astaroth - so Astaroth would not see him as a weakling or an unequal in any way. But apparently the "short" time (short in the eyes of an individual with the long memories as a fey or a demon) Had been too much for the fiend's patience and hormones and he had gone off and done that. The deepest betrayal of trust. Mordath should have known. This life was supposed to be a second chance to NOT make the same mistakes he had in the past. And what happened at the first opportunity? His weakness - his LOVE for another had opened him up again to pain and betrayal. It was a good thing, Mordath thought with bitterness, that it had happened sooner instead of later. Sooner so that he could learn, sooner so that it didn't cut quite as deeply as it might have had Mordath's plans been more developed or more mature. Now before he had welcomed Astaroth to rule by his side in Fey. And.... to make matters worse - it had been with MORION of all people. Morion whom had already scarred him before in the abandonment of his friendship for this "love" in the past. Which, in retrospect - he supposed was not so bad except for the fact that it had taken the only two people he trusted enough to call "Friends" away from him - and what brought him to Astaroth in the first place. And then Morion had left Purr, not once, but now twice. He knew how deeply the pain had scarred her in this life - and she would be the only who could sympathize with this. Besides, she needed to know. Last he had heard they were on their way to repairing things after Morion had supposedly gotten his head back onto his shoulders.

Before he knew it, he was looking up again at Sabin's mansion in Durem, and walked inside, heading for PurrPurr's room - as they now shared the house together, and rapped hard on her door - his anger accidentally slipping too far into his mannerisms. Not that he probably even needed to - his boiling aura probably announced his presence long before his knocking could.

Purr jerked up from her desk where she was writing in her journal at the very loud rapping. What the hell was that about. Purr strode to the door and swung it open, her other hand planting firmly on her hip in annoyance, expecting Gavin to be on the other side. "WHA- oh... Mordath?" Purr looked surprised to see him, he obviously looked livid, but Purr hadn't the faintest clue why.

Before saying anything at all, Mordath strode past her, the door slamming closed behind him with a flick of his wrist. He paced for a moment, clenching and unclenching his fists as he took several breaths through his gritted teeth. He spun to face her again, fury still evident on his face, but it wasn't directed towards her, more of a nigh-visable cloud around him. Taking several breaths again and searching for a way to put words to his emotion he finall began. "HIM". He stopped, took another few breaths, holding his hand up to hold back any preliminary questions before he could speak. "Astaroth" He said with a hiss. "I thought I could trust him. Of ALL people. I was foolish. No - stupid. Igave his "honor" too much credit."

Purr's annoyance quickly melted with concern as she saw how upset Mordath was. She was pretty sure it couldn't have been anything she did... they hadn't spoken more than as passing housemates since they had returned from Fa'e. She had shared her delight about speaking with Morion - and his promise to proove himself to be the "knight she once depended on."

She listened to him steam, hissing the name "Astaroth" with as much bitterness and fury as she's ever seen him muster. "... he.. what did he do..?" Purr was pretty sure she knew the answer before she asked, and she felt something well up in her chest - a familiar pain, if she was right... she knew exactly what Mordath would be feeling. Hoping she was wrong, she waited for his answer.

Mordath fell heavily into a chair, his wings still quivering in his fury and he gripped the armrests, his nails digging into the padding as he tried to divert some of the anger. "He apparently was not patient enough to allay his lust in my absence." he growled, then turned a hesitant look to PurrPurr, realizing just how difficult this was going to be to say. "Unfortunately, it gets worse - and you are not going to like at ALL what I have to tell you. But I prefer it come from me than another."

...so she was right. Astraroth cheated on him. Instinctively a protective like anger made her face burn. The b*****d.... Purr knew Mordath did not trust people easily... especially intimately. This would be a big transgresion. Purr wondered how he found out. And if it came from Roth himself, she wondered if he was in need of medical attention. Not that she would aide him at this point anyway.

But then the swelling in her chest seemed to fall deep into the pit of her stomach. There was only one way this could get worse, and involved her personally. "....what...?" She barely whispered it, suddenly afraid of what he was going to say. She was half tempted just to stop him at the moment and ask him to leave.... she wasn't ready for news she knew she wasn't ready to handle...

Mordath paused, seeing the gears in Purr's mind already putting the pieces together from what little he had already said - he knew she was no fool, and unfortunately intimately familiar with betrayal. "I do not need to continue if you do not wish to listen. I know that something has happened to you recently from the way you have been acting, though I do not know the details..." Mordath paused, still furious but begining to rethink coming to Purr now when things had JUST started to look up for her and levvy this information on her. A part of him screamed to share this pain with her - this treachery. Purr was the only other one who knew the bitter taste of betrayal and the pain that came with love as much as he.

Purr felt herself starting to shake as she took a seat near her desk. Just the thought of what she dreaded was already making her eyes sting with tears. She swallowed, praying she was wrong, that she was connecting the wrong dots. "Please..." she got out, struggling to keep her voice even, "you don't mean ... M..Mor.." she trailed off; she couldn't finish.

Mordath turned away, staring at the bright decorations of the room, and chewed on his bottom lip. "Astaroth apparently thought that the hurt would be "lessened" if he targeted someone whom I was familiar with." Mordath delivered the statement with a seething hatred.

....

Purr blinked a few times, wiping hastily at a tear that threatened to fall. "WHAT?" The sheer idiocy of that logic made Purr flounder in shock for a few moments before the full force of what Mordath was saying hit her. "No... no that can't be. You're wrong! Morion wouldn't do that! I mean.. I mean.. he HATES Roth.. .and he's.. he's.. you know not... " she made a weak motion to Mordath's lean, male form.

Mordath couldn't help but give a resentful glare to her trying to deny the information he was delivering. "Belive me, I have already thought such things. IT was the last thing that I could have conceptualized as well, and I was aware - or at least I thought I was - of Morion and Astaroth's enmity. But apparently they overcame their differences" Mordath's last few words were ice. "And the "logic" makes no sense to me, and only seems to weaken Astaroth's primary argument that he couldn't seem to "contain" himself when obviously he gave some thought into his choice of partners." His short nails were digging divets into her chair's armrests.

Flashes of Dawna, the images of Morion and her kissing, came to her mind reluncantly. Okay, so Morion was a romantic, and certainly had proved himself... capable of showing such affections to another. But... but ROTH? Roth didn't seem like the kind of guy that Morion would try to sweep off his feet. "But wait..." a sudden, sickening thought crossed her mind. "But... what happened, exactly? I mean... it was just a few kisses... right?" Somehow, Purr doubted "just a few kisses" wasn even in Roth's realm of possibility.. but Morion was upstanding and sexually moral. Morion and herself had promise to (at least try) to wait until they were married to consummate their relationship... certainly not with Roth had he...

oh my god... she thought.

Mordath gave a bitter snarl at the belittling of what might have made him irate. "I do not know the details - nor do I wish to - however sometime during this ridiculous event they call "Prom" Astaroth beded Morion. I cannot understand this, at any level. But I should have known - I should have known better. The same damnable feeling was my undoing in my last life and I had set up every barrier possible to keep it from happening in this one. I should have ******** listened to my own advice!"

Purr stood up an exploded. "PROM?!?!?!" Her wings flared up in fury as she paced quickly around the room. She had already felt quite upset that Morion didn't ask her to Prom. She figured it just wasnt his type of event - after all he certainly seemed to hate being Prom King the year before. But the fact that he WENT without her... and then SLEPT with someone else? Purr couldn't decide if she should scream or sob, but instead crumpled to her knees, clutching a pillow she yanked off the bed, and did a mixture of both into it.

Mordath was to his feet in an instant and to her side, already muttering about how he shouldn't have told her, but that he knew she needed to know. "I share your anger and your bitterness" he whispered, once again feeling helpless at the sight of her tears. All the magic in the world couldn't bring a smile to her face at this point - not a genuine one at least. Just as it couldn't truly right the wrongs that Astaroth and Morion had committed in their eyes. HE was furious, and somewhere deep down, some switch had turned back off. A coldness had settled over his heart. However, at least in regards to the bond he had with Purr - the bond of friendship, he had not totally closed off his emotions.

Purr dropped the pillow and buried her face in his chest as he came close, her shoulder shaking with the tears. She clung to him desperately, not only to comfort herself but to comfort him as well. She was feeling every negative emotion possible. She was jealous of Roth and his carnal knowledge of the man she loved. She was angry at Roth for hurting her best friend. She was devastated by Morion's continued betrayel. Thoughts began to swin into her mind as she struggled to compute how she would deal with this situation. A sweeping dispair washed over her, but somewhere in her darkest corners of her heart, a pulsing desire began. An old stirring in her blood. A carnal hunger started to grow, though for now it was overwhelmed by the surfact sadless she felt.

Mordath held PurrPurr tightly, and although he would never admit to the comfort it brought him to physically share in the misery through the embrace, he needed the understanding, the comfort, and the knowledge that at least someone had stayed true to him - in retrospect - in both lives. He made no effort to move, just to hold and commiserate.

It was several long minutes that they held each other. Purr cried into his shoulder as the thoughts swirled in her head. For several long minutes the self pity and feeling of betrayel filling her heart. But then the stirring in her blood got stronger. She felt it, like a thick, hot liquid in her body. She knew exactly what it was, and it made her sick. Her nymph blood burned in her own body, filling her head with thoughts of making Morion and Rother PAY. Images of Mordath started to swim in her mind. Pusling, hot, and very, very sexual images weaved into her brain. ******** the pain away. Thats what she used to do, anyway? Whenever Oberon made her mad, there was always some stable boy or pretty little maid around to let loose her frustrations on. After all, Morion and Roth as burned their own bridges wouldn't that make Mordath and her free to do as they pleased?

Purr buried her face harder into his chest, willing the thoughts to go away. Mordath would never agree. He didn't want that from her. He wanted comfort. From a friend, not a lover. She began to sob harder as her thoughts began to betray her. Mordath felt so good in her arms. This muscles were tight and lean, and he smelled so good.

Disgusted with herself, she pulled away suddenly, looking him with a tear-steaked expression of lust and desperation. There was definately a lusty aura that filled the room, and she hated herself for it. She hoped Mordath wouldn't notice, but she knew that would be impossible. She turned her face away in shame.

Mordath looked up as she rose, feeling the emotions pouring off of her. The nymph abilities awakening in her awoke a mirrored feeling in Mordath himself and he rose quickly to his feet, putting a steadying hand on the chair. He had heard of such magicks before, and remembered now just how powerfully sensual Titania could be in her prime - how easily it had been to fall into both lust and love with her before - and just why he was willing to literally risk everything before in order to be with her, share his kingdom WITH her, and hatch a plot to kill Oberon himself. He was nearly lost in the feelings until she turned her head away from him and Mordath realized what he was doing. He swallowed and felt the coldness around his heart secure itself. Never again, he swore to himself. Never again.

I... I think I need some time to myself, Tita-PurrPurr. I am sorry. I truly am.

The tears ran hotly down her cheek. "I understand," she mumbled. She never hated herself more than she did right now. How disgusting, that she couldn't even comfort her own best friend. Not waiting for him to leave, she pushed past him and headed in a near run for the door.

Mordath was in his room. Earlier he was poring over his journal, making doubly sure that he had everything recaptured from his "new" life, and trying to keep his mind off the current set of problems by burying himself in his past... unfortunately, the names that kept reemerging: Morion, PurrPurr.... Astaroth... they all brought such a violent mixture of emotions to his heart that he forced himself to set it aside and went to do something even more calming: casting. He had moved rooms and needed to redo the wards. Technically it probably wasn't even completely necessary, this was his home - at least in this realm. While many other Fa'e might scoff at the thought of still "living with his parents" Mordath could care less about the implications. It served its purpose - it was a place to sleep, and it was close to his truest and closest allies. However, having a new, younger "brother" who was apparently mischiviousness incarnate was all the reasoning he needed to recast the spells. He had put it off before with other more pressing matters. Now it was all he wanted to do - escape from the moment and immerse himself in familiar spells: ritualized, concrete things that couldn't betray him.

It was then that he heard the loud THUMP Between spells, and the sound of small hard things scattering over tile. He didn't even know what time it was. Stepping cautiously out of his room, he noticed that the sun had barely crested the horizon as he glanced out the big bay windows visable from the hallway on the second story that overlooked the entryway. Sabin and Kamiki (or Simon and Gavin for that matter) shouldn't be up yet.... and the sound came from the bathroom. With a hurry in his step he hurried towards it. When he found the door was locked he didn't think twice about casting the simplest of spells to undo a mundane lock and opened the door.....

Purr was sprawled out on the floor on the bathroom. Her hair was deshelved, her clothes were dirty and wrinkled (and the same ones she was wearing the night before). The whole bathroom would smell of chemical, alcohol, and a mix of bodily fluids. A small splattering of crimson blood brightly contrasted with the white of the tile (a quick look would determine she had hit her head on the counter top when falling). But most disturbingly would be the shattered water glass, and a near-empty bottle of sleeping pills hat had spilled the rest of its contents onto the floor.

Mordath stood in shock for a few moments, the realization sinking in of just what exactly must have happened... and why as his mind began to piece together the sickening clues before him. A cold feeling washed over him afterwards - concern, guilt and anger towards those who caused this pain so evident in the scene before him. He scooped her up in his arms - he should have never let her leave last night. He hadn't bothered to think how she must have reacted to all of that - he was just trying to get his own mind off of it. And now.... she might be dead because of it his mind anguished. But, thank god, she was still warm to the touch when he lifted her - her chest still rose and fall...albeit much less than he would have liked. He knew he had no time to spare to alert the others in the house - let alone the time that a proper explanation would require. He didn't even want to waste the time it would take to carry her to Gambino Hospital - the most reputable one in Gaia (and the one that had been there in the wake of the Zombie attacks when people needed treatment from the bites) - or risk the less notable ones closer in Durem. He didn't care what people might think as he whispered a spell and in a flash they were there and he was screaming at the top of his now much more powerful lungs for immediate attention. Within moments the doctors were whisking her away on a guerney and he was babbling an explanation, showing them the empty bottle of sleeping pills.

The whole ordeal was a buzz - going by so fast - and he almost felt as if he was watching it from a great distance - he could hardly hear what he was saying - what the doctors and nurses were saying as they virtually forced her away from him. Indignancy flared in him - these mortals holding HIM back - but he settled himself - he knew that they knew what they were doing and were professionals. And his arcane magic - for all its worth - could do little to save a dying woman. For the second time in less than 24 hours he felt useless.

It was less than two hours before the doctor finally came to meet with Mordath in the waiting room, though it felt like an enternity. The doctor introduced himself, and stated down a long, complicated explaination about the procedure. The words "stomach pump" and "electrolytes" and "IV Drip" crossed the border of his uninteresting mind before the doctor finally demanded his attention.

"Sir," he said, "we found traces of heroin, which complicated things greatly. It will be a rough few weeks, and I don't know if she'll ever return to how you used to know her, but she has regained consciousness, if you like to see her?"

Mordath swallowed hard as he heard the last part. It didn't surprise him as much as he would have liked the news to have, and he nodded quietly. Things had in the course of what seemed like a few minutes gone from bad to ever so much worse. And it looked like he might very well be losing the last other Fa'e that he could honstly call a friend. It took a while for the words to meet up with his voice " I would like to see her."

The doctor nodded and led him to her room. She was laying on bed, her face turned away, staring out the window. Her skin was dealthy pale, looking almost cream instead of its normal hue of purple. Her hair was straight and lacked any of the luster it usually carried. "There's not much else we can do for her. Once her fluids levels are back up, she's free to go." With that, he left Mordath alone with her, gently closing the door on his way out

Mordath swallowed hard and nodded silently to the doctor again as he stepped quietly towards the bed. He paused for a moment and then sighed and placed his hand over hers. "PurrPurr....?" He ventured a whisper

She continued to stare out the window for a few moments, not even acknowledging his presence. Then she closed her eyes and book a shuddering breath, looking hesitantly over to him.

At least she registered his presence.... that was a start... right? He forced a weak smile to his face as he rubbed the back of her hand a bit with his. He didn't know what to say. What was there TO say? He knew why she did this, and... almost... he had a hard time blaming her for doing what she did. It was wrong, but she had been so screwed over again and again... He wished he could make her smile again... a real smile. He thought back to their childhood together - really, when had been the last time he saw her truly happy? IT had been so long since ther was something that wasn't somehow corrupted for her.

Finally, the only words that he could manage to find were "I'm sorry, Purr.... I'm SO sorry.." It was hardly a whisper. The old voice.

Her lip trembled a bit, but she didn't cry. She simply stared at him. "Why did you stop me, Mordath? I'm so tired..."

Mordath boggled at this "Why..?" he numbly asked "Purr... please... don't do this... don't do this to yourself - to your family - there are those of us that still care about you...."

"It's not worth it anymore," her voice of distant, mechanical. "I'm no good being here. I have no purpose other than to be used by people. Everything I had hoped for.. it just can't happen. There's no point..."

Mordath winced... he wanted so desperately to tell her that she was wrong... to prove it... but the words were so hard to find. He could barely convince himself that there was something in her life that didn't cause her pain. "What of us...?"

"Our family?"

Purr stared down at the her hospital gown. "I don't know. I want my own family one day. And you... well, even you don't want me."

Mordath looked down at the bedsheets. It pained him to be a part of these reasons for her hurt.... but, no matter how he looked at it, even with Roth out of the picture... it felt wrong to him... he didn't want that. He didn't need a family and he couldn't open himself up for that hurt again either. And it made him sick to his stomach - that a decision he could make was adding to this hurt. But to agree to something he didn't want just to make her happy would only cause more pain in the end. And she knew that. "What of the Feyrealm...? Surely... I mean, you were Titania herself.... surely something there could hold happiness for you."

Purr gave a dry, almost creepy laugh. "The king is remarried. Of course, he failed to mention this until after he bedding me once again." She snorted, fingers pulling at the thread of the hospital-issued blanket, the fabric twisting in her violent grip.

Mordath stopped, his mouth opened and closed as he realized the feaux paus that he had just made. He had no idea... he knew she had been hurt there - but didn't know the extent..... Oberon himself was still alive... and had used her.... remarried already.... He half collapsed and half sat into the chair by her bedside.... no wonder she was in so much misery... there was even more to the story than he had known. what could he say... what could he do...? It was then that a little niggling thought began to poke at the edges of his mind. It was extreme - VERY extreme... TOO extreme. But he looked at her lying there - the misery filling her eyes, the desperation. The needle tracts in her arm, the look of a woman who had given up. What if he took her home again - what would happen? Open her up for more hurt if she tried to go talk to Morion? Would she go out again like she did last night? Perhaps overdose? Wind up in a realtionship that was abusive? Or just try to kill herself again... and probably succeed if he was more involved in a spell, or not in the house - or even if she attempted somewhere other than their shared bathroom. He patted her hands.... in a hardly audible whisper "What if I could make the pain go away.....? A way other than death, but something nearly as drastic...."

"How.. how could it just go away. I still... I still... " she swallowed hard. "I still love him, Mordath. And I love you. But... but there's no future there... no hope. And I can't.. I can't just make those feelings go away..."

"I can't stand it, Mordath. Not at all. Even if... even if I tried to find someone else... I dont.. what if they..." the tears started again, and she turned away. "I want it to all go away. I don't want this life anymore!"

He held a hand up, quieting her. "These things would no longer be an issue if I do this. But it is VERY drastic. But.... it would be.... another chance" He drew out the last words, choosing them carefully, knowing how much weight that carried.

"Another chance...?" Her voice sounded hopeful, but wary. She didn't want to die, not really. But she felt like her heart would just break if anyone ever hurt her again. "It sounds too good to be true..." she whispered.

He nodded slowly. "It can be..... but there is always a cost. Not as greivous as the payment that you were looking to make for peace now, PurrPurr.... but along with the bad.... you will lose the good as well."

"My family, you mean?"

Mordath paused. "No.... you will not lose us.... you will still be here, among us. That you shall not lose."

Purr layed back on the bed, closing her eyes. "I don't care anymore. I just want the pain to go away. I just want ... I just want it to go away..."

Mordath swallowed and nodded and let his eyes rest over her again. His heart ached so much for her. He himself had caused much of her pain. It had been his suggestion to take her to the feyrealm..... he was one of the people who had turned her away.... He wanted to make it better.... but the only way a wizard like he could do so was to take everything away. Turn back the clock for her - return her to a more innocent time, before the hurt, before the betrayal... when she still had hope. "I can do that." He finally said. "I cannot bear to see you like this, and I know that you cannot either. I would only resort to such a thing, however, if the choice was between that and death. However, something ttells me that if I do not choose one, you will choose the other."

"Sire looked so peaceful..." she said, wistfully. "No one can ever hurt him anymore."

Mordath swallowed. More pieces of the puzzle emerged, and he knew, deep in his heart, that there was no other option.

Slowly, he withdrew from his robes the book that never left his person anymore and opened it up - the book responding to his thoughts and opened directly to the page he held in his mind. He stared down at the complicated spell. At least, thought a small part of his mind, she was willing... it would have been tenfold harder were she not. He looked again to her, taking a breath. He wanted to ask her again if she were certain - to take away from him part of the responsibility, part of the blame that he was sure would fall on his head. But he knew what her reply would be - and he knew that very little of the PurrPurr he knew and cared for was even left in this woman before him. She seemed so dead just lying there.... he could return that spark to her... see her smile again. With a soft smile, a tender, brotherly smile he stroked the side of her face softly with the back of his hand, a tear emerging from his crimson eye. "Goodbye, PurrPurr... I do love you, and I'm sorry that I could not love you again the way you needed me to."

A breif look of uncertainly crossed her face as she reached up to take the hand on her cheek in hers. "Goodbye," she whipered, uncertain. Tears spilled over onto her cheeks as she watched him wordlessly, wondering if this was the last time she would ever see him again.

Mordath nodded slowly, his cheeks wet with salty, remorseful tears. He wished that there was some other way - some other way to make her happy again and not lose... so much. So much of the good along with the bad. But, he reminded himself again - there had been so little genuine good in this life. This really was... the only way. He took a breath and looked down at the spell again, mentally going over what exactly would need to be said, the proper inflections. He glanced around the room and made sure the proper components would be available. Finally, he broke his gaze with her and put himself into the mindset of the magus. There was work to be done.

He stepped to the door, slid the lock into place and gathered up a small mirror, filled two dixie cups with water and set them on the bedside tables to either side of her. He poured out the water from the vase where flowers had been set besides her, and crushed the flowers in his hands, sprinkling the crushed petals over her forehead, and then over her figure still wrapped in the thin hospital linens. He reached up and disabled the smoke alarm, and withdrew some sticks of insence from his billous robes, putting the ends in the water cups. With a glace, a small spark jumped to life at the ends, and the smoke was begining to trail lazily upwards from them.

Finally, he turned back to PurrPurr once again and handed her the mirror. Look into this mirror and do not remove your eyes from it no matter what you do. Try to look deep into your own eyes, focus on the spirit that lays within; clear your thoughts and focus on that ancient soul within you.

Purr swallowed nervously, hesitant to take her eyes off Mordath. What was going to happen to her? Had she really been thinking abuot killing herself just a few hours ago. She didn't want to die... she didn't want to leave Kamiki or Mordath or Simon... maybe she was making a mistake...

She tried to voice her hestitation, but her thought suddenly felt filled with cotton. Nasty images of Morion and Roth locked in a passionate embraced filled her head and she squeezed her eyes shut. Her heart ached and she new, deep in her soul, that a repeat of last night would be the death of her. She took a deep breath and focused on the mirror, tears spilling silently over onto her cheeks, her shoulder's trembling slightly

Mordath steeled himself as he returned his gaze once more to the book open before him. He was just casting a spell... that was all - something that needed to be done. Before he allowed himself to let regret or hestitation hold him back, the words were already forming on his lips. The voice that filled the room hardly sounded like Mordath's. It was a silky wavering puzzle that seemed to be speaking with several voices at once. Sometimes almost sounding like the ancient fey tongue, sometimes like English, and yet never either of them - the tones almost sounded familiar to her as she listened, but the words themselves did not - the stream even difficult to differentiate where one word stopped and the next began. But it struck a deep chord within her - something universal - a sound that inherantly contained Power. The sound - almost a music - filled her, resonated in her, and warmed her. The powerful, resonating noise seemed to mesh with Mordath's own boiling Aura, now freed to the room and a second wave hit her. This time, the warmpth, the heat filled her to the brim and she could feel no emotion save for this mind-washing white heat. But it did not burn - it energized. Her eyes were locked on the mirror - and her vision tunneled, to just the mirror, then to just her eyes, and then to the depths of her pupils - seeing deeper.. deeper... her body was becoming light, but she could hardly notice - her mind was so focused. Everything was becoming light... simpler...

There were colors at the edges of her vision, movement and fluttering as, with a final booming note Mordath's voice ceased suddenly - and there was an explosion of color and energy that eminated from PurrPurr's form and myriad brightly colored red and purple and black butterflies of the purest energy fled from her, taking away her mass, lengths of her hair, her wings. The fragile "creatures" disappeared almost as suddenly as they came to being, leaving behind a young girl sitting in the bed, clutching a mirror between her small hands.

The much younger looking Purrpurr sat in the hospital bed, blinking a few times at the pretty mirror ahead of her. Where was she? What was she doing here? A confused look swept over her features, the mirror falling to her lap as her grip on it went lax. Everything smelled funny - she didn't remember coming to a hospital. Or did she? It felt like she had been asleep for a very, very long. Some memories were very clear and vivid, though they seemed far away. And other snippets of memories fluttered in the forefront of her mind - like trying to a remember a dream.

She then looked over a Mordath, her eyes going as large as saucers for a moment. Fear of unrecognition flashed in her eyes, but then she squinted, confused. In a small, uncertain, and entirely childlike voice, she asked, "... M...Mordath...?"

Mordath returned the smile, albeit tainted with a bit of bitterness. He had never cast this spell before to be perfectly honest. He had researched it literally a lifetime ago to add to his massive repoitoire, but never thought he would use it .... to save someone. He wasn't completely sure how it would work. He was able to influence how young it made her, however - and he made sure to set it to a time after she had technically been a "plant". He wasn't sure when Titania's soul had come into her small body, and was careful to make sure it was after she had been "awakened" - but the time was approximate. He had secretly hoped that she would at least remember something of him... and it appeared that those silent thoughts had been overheard by some gracious deity.

"Yes.... yes, it's me, PurrPurr.... Brother Mordath." He spoke with the childhood whisper, althought he had a hard time keeping the quiver form his voice. He licked his fingers and quickly extinguished the incence before the smell might drift into the hallway and draw attention from the orderlies and went and knelt by her bedside. "You've.... been asleep for some time, honey.... but I would like to take you home..."

Purr crawled out from under the hospital blanket, her flimsy gown draping loosely over her now small form. "You're so big, Mordath," she crawled over to the edge of the bed and reached out with her small hand to touch his face. She didn't understand why it looked familiar, as clearly the last time she saw him he was a chubby little boy with a giant red flower on his head. Then she looked around him, down on the floor, and behind his back suspiciously. "Where's Evil Teddy," she said with a pout. Whatever had happened to her she was NOT in the mood to be chased by a stuffed toy right now.

His smile stayed on his face as he felt a strange mix between sadness and happiness for her. There was no pain behind this young voice. It was almost eerie - as he he himself had stepped back in time, remembering the childish torments he had brought on her - chasing her around with the teddy bear, refusing to pretend to drink non-existant tea. "No, Purr - he's... he's back at home in my room" The smile crept a bit higher on his lips - he did still have the teddy bear, up on a shelf, and a reminder that he had not been a child that long ago - despite the long stretch of memories in his mind.

"Okay, that's good then." She sat up on her kneed on the bed and help her arms out to him expectantly. "You take me home?"

"I certainly will" Mordath murmured as he picked her up. While Mordath was certainly not physically strong by most standards, the young child was light in his arms. A flickering anxiety now passed through his mind as he now thought to Kamiki... and what her reaction was sure to be. He swallowed, imagining the fury of the kitsune woman when her beautiful young woman returned to her like this. He feared he would not be able to get a word in edgewise to try to explain how this was necessary.... perhaps he could point young PurrPurr towards her door and disappear to his room for a bit, raising the wards, to allow for her temper to cool... but would that be the right thing...? Did it matter anymore with all of the shades of grey that this situation as a whole painted with? He put away his spellbook and held her tight, pressing her face into his soft robes so as to not surprise her, he quickly murmured the familiar teleportation spell to return them home. The last thing he needed was questions from the doctors.

With a stomach-lurching wave and the rushing of wind and popping of ears, they were standing in the foyer of Sabin's (and now Kamiki's as well) Manor in Durem.

Purr's eyes went wide in surprise at the sudden change of location. Her faced scrutched up and she clapsed her hands over her ears. "WHAT DID YOU DO!" She looked wearily up the building. "Dis is Sabin's howse." She said matter-of-factly.

Mordath couldn't help but smile a bit at the childish matter-of-fact accusations. "I just brought us home really quickly. Makes things much easier, don't you think? And.. ah... Kamiki is here at the moment" I'll let her explain the details, he thought to himself. "I'll take you to her" Mordath held to her as he climbed the large stairway and took a right, hearing the clacking of nails on keyboard that indicated that Kamiki was most likely at her computer compulsively checking up on "her forums." Setting PurrPurr down gently, he gestured to the doors. "She should be right in there" He said with a whisper and a smile, backing up a few paces to give her room... and remove himself from a direct line of sight when the doors would be opened.

Purr smiled at Mordath, picking up on the "surprise" aura of her returning home. She pushed open the doors with a mighty heave. "MAMA!!!" She rushed in, arms held open wide.

Kamiki's ears swiveled around, picking up on some sounds behind the door. Sounded like Mordath might be home. Good, she wondered where he was gone off to, and if he knew were Purr was. But then the door slammed open and she heard something barreling in towards her. She spun her computer chair just in time to see a very small version of her beautiful young adult daughter land heavily in her lap and swing her arms around Kamiki's neck.

Kamiki's first reaction was that she was in a hosital gown. Suddenly very afraid, she pulled Purr back and looked her over, her jaw hitting the floor. It was Purrpurr allright, but obviously MUCH younger. But Kamiki knew she wasn't going completely crazy, because she looked nothing like her daughter once looked as a child. The fa'e where a constantly-changing race, and Purr looked simply like a younger version of youth-self, just without her grand wings.

"Purr-purr, honey? What happened??" When she remembered the muffled voice of Mordath she heard seconds before the door opened. Scooping the child up in her arms before she had a chance to answer, Kamiki stalked over to the door, stepping out into the hallway. "MORDATH?!"

Mordath was just begining to walk quietly away from the door when the Scream of his name caught him and the presence of the furious woman behind him caught him. He involuntarily cringed - still associating the voice in the back of his mind with that of a "parent" - then chastized himself immediately afterwards for reacting like this - he was Mordath after all - Future KING of the feyrealm if he had anything to say about it. Stiffening and spinning and doing his very best to put on a confident, knowing expression with a cross of his arms in front of him, the facade melted as he saw the concern and worry behind Kamiki's eyes in addition to the anger. His shoulders slumped in sympathy as he held up his hands. "I can explain..." He started.

"YOU BETTER!" She screamed. Meanwhile, Purr's face was scrunching up in a scared/nervous expression like she was about to cry. They way all children get when they hear her parent's screaming. She didn't know what happened, or what she did wrong, but she wrenched herself away from Kamiki and rushed back over to Mordath, buring her face into his hip.

Kamiki's ears dropped down as she saw the upset child, guilt rising in her chest. But something BIG was going on and she wanted to know what.

Mordath kneeled down and put comforting arms around the child. Speaking to her first before Kamiki "It's alright, child. You did nothing wrong... shhh... it's okay.... But I need to talk with mommy for a little bit privately. Why don't you go knock on that door over there-" *He nodded to Gavin's room* "and say "hello" to the person in there" He said with an encouraging smile before straightening and turning a serious expression to Kamiki.

"Why don't we go have a seat, Kamiki... there is much that needs to be discussed"

Purr sniffed and wiped her eyes (and nose) on Mordath's shirt as she nodded. She gave a very sad look to Kamiki then toddled off to the door.

After a moment, Gavin opened it up, looking straight over Purr before looking down. "What the ********]

Purr clasped her hands over her mouth, a look of utter scandal crossing her face. Kamiki's ears went straight back as she put her hands on her hips, shooting a very nasty look to Gavin. "I'll explain later - and watch your mouth, young man! Now take her and go in your room. NOW!"

Gavin shot his mother an angry look, but held the door open for the little girl to wander in. With a loud slam, the door closed behind him.

Kamiki mimiced the actions of her son, holding the door to her study open, giving Mordath a look that clearly said he should go have seat. Quickly.

Mordath tried to keep the smile from his face at the young boy's antics, and thought in the back of his mind that Gavin should make a suitable replacement for the torments that Mordath had bequeathed upon young PurrPurr as a child. Catching Kamiki's stern look, however, he quickly scooted into the room and sat down in one of the couches. Where to start.

With a deep, heaving breath, he began "I.. I am sure you have noticed some of the troubles that PurrPurr has been going through recently, though I am not sure how informed you have been... I myself hadn't been completely aware of just everything that had gone wrong until this afternoon..." Mordath began explaining things that were hard to put words to - how Purr's life had begun a downward spirial - from the first time Mordath left her, to Oberon, and finally to Prom - with the anger seething into his voice very clearly at this point. Finally, he told her of the aftermaths, when Purr found out about Astaroth and Morion, and .. how he found her that morning, in the bathroom.

Kamiki listened, her anger quickly melting away to concern and remorse. Mordath was right, she had noticed how depressed Purr had been in the past. But Purr had never mentioned to her about Oberon. But the anger began to swell in her chest as Morion was mentioned again. She was already NOT happy that Purr and Morion had decided to start repairing the relationship that caused her to run away to the fey realm to begin with. She twisted a pillow in her hands, tears streaking down her face as Mordath broke the news that she had tried to take her own life.

"Oh god, Mordath... You have no idea how glad I am you found her in time..."

Mordath swallowed a lump and nodded. He was having trouble keeping his voice steady, and had given up on keeping the tears from his cheeks. "I am too.... I... I was lucky that I was so close by... and that I was at a lull in the chanting.... If I had not found her quite so soon...." He paused, not liking to think about it "then my magics would have been powerless to do anything at that point."
"I... I cast my magic to make her like this..... I must warn you... it is not a "temporary" fix. She is young again in mind and body, and does not remember anything "after" this point in her life. Her memories of her past life will surely return to her again as they did before. Honestly, I do not know if the ones from this life ever will or not. This spell... is a very ancient and powerful one - and I had never had the reason to cast it before. I wish there could have been another way... but I feared if I did not then she would try to take her life again... I could not give her what she truly wanted.... but perhaps, starting over again... she might have a chance..." He gave her a small, hopeful smile.

Kamiki rested with her head in her hands, her long fingers tangled up in her lavander hair. She didn't want to admit to herself that her daughter had been so close to dying. Even worse- taking her own life. She was thankful Mordath was there to save her - but the implications of her being a child again...

...but would it really be all that bad? After all, she knew now what mistakes to aviod. And who to aviod. "Morion is never coming NEAR my daughter again. I want you to make sure of that, Mordath."

Mordath's expression darkened at the mention of his name "fear not, Kamiki. I had NO intentions of letting him. Especially if she still remembers him as a boy, she might wish to - but I don't want to see him hurt her a third time."

"Does she remember him? they... they were such good friends. He would play tea and ride horses with her. You know. All the girly stuff that you wouldn't." A bitter look of realization and amusement passed her features. "of course that might explain the whole gay thi-" she cut her sentence short, looking quickly over to Mordath apologeticaly. "Sorry - I'm just bitter. I didn't mean..."

A downwards pull tugged at Mordath's lip as he nodded. "It's alright... I can understand your frustration." He shrugged with a sigh. "I just hope... this time around.... " he gestured vaguely. "Perhaps she will find the happiness she desperately needs"

"I'll be more protective of her, thats for sure." Kamiki paused, thinking for a moment. "Does she know? What happened to her, or why?"

Mordath shook his head "No... as far as she knows, she's been 'asleep'. But that's the extent of it. I... I thought it best. You are welcome to tell her if you think it better.... but.." Mordath gave a hesitant wince "It might get awkward, especially for her childlike mind to understand"

"Maybe when she's older.. I don't want her making the same mistakes twice."

Mordath nodded "I agree."

"I guess I should go talk to her, huh?"

Modath nodded again, standing this time. "I think that would be the best." He gave her a kind smile and squeezed her shoulder. "It will be alright now, I think. She needs your loving more than anything else right now."

Kamiki pulled Mordath into a hug, letting the relief rush over her. Trying to compose herself, she quickly went to Gavin's door. She and her daughter had a lot to talk about.

Kamiki's Partner

Winter Trash

Dreaming
Your fa'e dreams of a girl's voice, calling out from the distance. It is oddly familiar for those who have NOT met Airi, and undeniably Airi's voice for all those who HAVE met her. Mordath turns, looking in the direction of the voice, and wills himself towards the noise.

Then from the twilight you will see Airi sitting in a glowing circle of cryptic runes (ala Hinote from X) and speaking to you, her eyes large and sad, her cheeks streaked with tears. She says: "Please, help me. Please, I beg you ... help me find my Guardian (you see a vision of the blue Anya gem). The gem that holds her has been taken from me and I fear both for the fa'e who took it and the gem itself. There are dark forces out there who might harm Mortimer, the lion child who took my gem (you see Mortimer's face). Please find him, please recover the stone before somebody else does ..." Then she looks down and hides her face in her hands, beginning to cry. You cannot comfort her nor will she speak again. In fact, if you try to touch her in any way, you realize that an impenetrable barrier shields her from any form of physical interaction. You also cannot pick her brains for other clues and to all your sense she seems to be telling the truth

Mordath's eyes snap open, and he's sitting in the middle of his room, the runes around him that have been carved into the wood are 'cooling' down - they had been glowing a bright blue that now fades back to normal. It was no ordinary dream.

Mordath set aside the heavy tome, setting it on top of the large stack that had sat besides him. He ... must have nodded off again. He didnt' know how many days it had been... nor did he particularly care. The thing that brought him to this world again - the tie that held him to his guardian and the brotherly connection he had to the other bunch of misfit 'children'...

He sighed... things were so different... this time around. He was no longer purely a fey... the transition t this world, that had 'brough him back' when he had been tried to be permanently 'snuffed' was tenuous.
