well aparently, my friend Surf Kitty 69, you know absolutely nothing about the Catholic Church.
POINT #1:
Catholics do NOT worship the Virgin Mary. They pray to her, yes, but they don't worship her. And by praying to her (and the other saints) they are hoping that she will pass their prayers along to Jesus.
It seems a bit twisted, and I don't completely agree with it, but the philosophy is almost that if you pray to Saint Mary (or any other saint) she will tell Jesus of your prayer and your prayer will have more emphasis on Jesus/God.
Yes it is weird. I admit it. But that is what they do. They pray, asking for a little extra help in getting God's attention, but they DO NOT!!!!!! worship the Virgin Mary.
POINT #2:
your entire "pagan dances around the pope's hat" comment was ridiculous and just put there to piss people off.
Catholics don't do pagan worshipping dances around a hat. Yes, they greatly admire and look up to the Pope. He is designated as the most educated (as far as the faith goes) person in the entire church.
Yes they look up to him, yes they ask him "Is abortion wrong? Is it okay to do this or that?" but they don't do pagan dances, and for you to say that was completely uncalled for.
(and by the way, thanks for the stereotyping of "Pagan Dances". For your information, Pagans do not dance around fires naked, as the Catholics don't dance around hats naked.)
Do some freaking research the next time you decide to bash someone's religion.
It will make a hell of a better argument than what you presented, and you won't seem like you are following everything Howard Stern says instead of your own opinion.
