Overpopulation of animals is a serious problem. I think abortion is not a bad thing to do to animals, because it gives big risks of diseases and many animal deaths.
^^ you may be right, but regardless of that fact, aborting the kittens. i think, is cruel and heartless

So it's okay to let the kittens be born, fill up the shelters, causing animals to never be adopted and put to sleep?

Or have them born on the street and have them spread deadly diseases?

It's not soo much of a problem to where we need to start killing them. I personally look down on any abortion (human or not) for "population control."

These animals would be taken care of, not thrown out into the street after they are old enough to live on their own. So in this case, disease and more animal deaths isn't even an issue.

Completely agreed.

Believe me, I love cats. I have three cats, all adopted, ages seven, five, and one. They are all spayed because I cannot take care of any more animals.

like i said, i know you're right, but that doesnt change the fact that its cruel, especially to the mother cat

Overpopulation of cats is a very real and serious issue.

Have you ever stepped foot into an animal shelter? Some of them are really nice places, but they all have far too many animals. There's simply not enough space for every single animal to be taken care of.

Do you feel that financial reasons and time constraints is acceptable for a woman to have an abortion? If so, why isn't it acceptable to spay a cat, thus aborting the developing fetii, for the same reasons?

If you don't have the time and money, you don't have the time and money. Maybe the owner can't afford to provide veterinary care for so many animals.

I don't understand why you would think that aborting cat fetii is wrong. They aren't even kittens yet. What's the big deal?

I am a huge cat lover as well. I do not want to have other cats endanger my own cats with diseases because the owner is irresponsible to spay/nueter the animal.
I think that there is nothing wrong with it. The woman wasn't prepared, so she did the responsible choice and aborted the kittens that she wouldn't be able to take care of. As Beatrix said, overpopulation is a massive problem with cats and dogs.

Animals are not the same as humans. We put down dogs and cats, so why not give them abortions too?

Did you read the first post? This isn't a stray cat we're talking about. This cat has already been adopted. Thus, the kittens are adopted as well. Allowing these kittens to grow to term is not going to cause deaths in shelters. And more importantly, won't spread any diseases.

Hardly. Having kittens is a serious hardship on a cat, and it opens up the door to dozens of diseases including cancers.

Have you ever owned a cat? Have you ever done research on cat diseases?

in my opinion, if the kittens are too far along i would refuse to spay the mother. i agree that over population is bad, but being pro-choice i feel like a hypocrit for having to spay my pregnant cat. i have mixed veiws on this, i probably feel worse then my cat does about it. then again i'm a future crazy old cat lady. generaly i try to keep the kittens rather then burdoning the animal shelters. so i can understand the women's finacial problems. i'm 95 dollars in debt to my vet for an emergency operation for one of my kittens and my little menagrie has a flea problem.
cat care costs quite a bit. each cat adds up.
