Because they are the future. They need to educate themselves on political matters and put in their say about the direction their country will move in.

Politics affects kids now. There are all sorts of laws aimed at the youth of our nation - Title IX, No Child Left Behind, etc. If a kid hears something that they don't like, they can petition and campaign against it as well as any adult.
