They have spent millions of dollars advertising Obama as an evil dictator and socialist, and because people are so "simple" they believe anything they hear on TV. Nobody in their right mind should be against the Affordable health care act. Millions of people who were previously denied healthcare because of pre-exisiting conditions are now covered. There is no lifetime cap under Obama care, which means the little girl from Arizona can have her 3rd life saving heart surgery without her parents selling their home and everything else they own because she already went over the lifetime cap (before Obama care). Companies don't have to pay nearly as much to insure their employees, yet religious assholes still feel the need to say "we refuse to offer contraception" when it doesn't cost them a damn thing! What's really funny is that when Obamacare went into effect, so many outraged citizens said they were moving to Canada to get away from socialized medicine (which is what they have) and that they were moving to China to get away from a communist dictator (uh hello, china is a communist nation) lol I'm so proud of the educational levels of my country... stare

I can go get my vision checked (haven't done so in 7 years), I can go to the gynecologist (haven't done so in 2 years), and I might actually be able to find a neurologist.

I have no idea. It's the same kind of health system that all other English-speaking Western societies (and almost all non-English-speaking Western societies) have, and none of us have exploded from it.

I'm going to go with it's the same reason America is still using the Imperial Measurement system, because a large proportion of the country are stubborn idiots who don't like change, regardless of the change being good or not.

The fact that people had to remortgage their homes in order to get medical treatment in the US is frankly batshit insane.

1. I agree that we should help one another. But if I help someone, or my entire community, it should be by my moral choice, not something forced by the government.
2. I should not have to be forced to pay for both mine and someone else's health care. The way Obama Care is set up now, colleges in certain areas will not accept you unless you get the stupid health care, and it's ridiculous. My not having health care has no effect on the school.
3. Do you realize that not all animals help each other? In fact, there are certain breeds of monkeys that cannibalize one another. WE ARE ANIMALS TOO, WE SHOULD CANNIBALIZE EACH OTHER.

Americans have a ridiculous case of the "gimmes." It doesn't matter if a system is cheaper in the long run or supports a more stable society, people are caught up in the idea that "oh my ******** I PAID for my health insurance and you're getting it for free?! I don't want to pay for your health care!"

What they don't understand is that, regardless of the existence of Obamacare, they always have and always will be paying for the health needs of those that can't afford it. America has a law called the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act which, in short, means that every ER and hospital in the country must, by law, treat and stabilize (meaning care for them to a point that they can be discharged into the community) anyone with a critical health condition or who is in labor regardless of that person's ability to pay for services. Many folks without health insurance delay treatment due to financial constraints which can cause minor ailments to become more serious and require either an ER visit or hospitalization. These folks can't afford even preventative care so guess what happens? They don't pay their hospital bills. And do you think that the hospitals are just going to eat these costs? Like hell they are! They pass along the costs to everyone else.

With insurance, costs can be controlled. If a provider accepts a certain form of insurance, then they basically have a contractual agreement with the insurance carrier that for X service, they will accept Y payment. If you're paying cash out-of-pocket, there's no agreement that controls what you'll be caused for those services.

After all that, whats a doctor going to make from insurance companies that are paying for everything for every individual? they have to pay back their debts, right now they are all just about rich but thats good motivation for them to keep working and doing a good job. I believe it'll reduce their pay because of government regulation and we'll have lower quality doctors.

This is an issue with the costs of higher education, not a federal health care system.

And just for general information purposes, medical school does not take ten years. The usual system involves four years to earn your Bachelor's (assuming that you attend full time, etc. etc.), four years of medical school, and then a residency which lasts anywhere from two to ten years depending on specialty. Residency, however, is a paid position. It's shitacular pay, but it's pay nonetheless.

Not everyone is taxed to pay for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare).
It's a .9% tax increase for those who earn over $200,000. And that's about 5% of top earners.
Also, it creates more generic drugs and drug rebates to lower the cost of drugs through competition and stuff.
Additionally, people are no long denied coverage or forced to pay more because of "pre-existing" conditions.
