I have no right to complain about how things are in this country if I don't even take the first step as a citizen and use my right to vote that so many have died to protect.
I really don't want to get into parties either, but I'm explaining my personal situation and don't want to cause any conflict (there's been more than enough of it!).
I live in Tennessee. I
knew the odds were against me. TN always goes red. Even knowing I would be on the losing side, I still went out and voted. It doesn't matter if you think your individual vote matters in the whole scheme of things, it should matter that you have the incentive and passion to do what is right in society by voting even if the odds are against you. That you care enough not to take your rights for granted, no matter what.
My dad has decided not to vote anymore because he lives in TN for that very reason. Just a waste of gas in his opinion.
The state I live in is always red too. However, I am not a fan of either party, so I voted libertarian.
I think of it this way, it can't hurt to go ahead and vote, regardless of whether you're on the winning or losing side. I like the Green party. I usually like Independents better, but, unfortunately, they don't stand a chance..
