You should go lower. The dumbbell bench is pretty much the same as the barbell bench press, except with dumbbells. Take the weights down to the point where if there were a line between them, the line would touch your chest.

Secondly, those weights are too heavy for you. You are losing control and that not only impedes your progress but puts you at risk for injury. Put your ego aside and work at the appropriate level.

Since when is 90 degrees full range of motion? Your arms would have to be pretty damn stiff to not be able to go lower than that. The reason why it's too heavy for him is because he did not seem like he had full control over the weight, plus if you increase your range of motion like you're supposed to, the exercise becomes harder and he wouldn't be able to achieve so many reps. If you don't even understand that then you have no business instructing people on here. Stop preaching your bs and go learn how to lift.

This.
Can definitely go lower. Without a shot from the side and from the top, it's hard to tell if your elbows are held at 45 degrees to your torso, or if they are flared out perpendicular to your torso. The more flared out your elbows are, the less range of motion you will have (and the increase in shoulder injuries if you try to bring the weights lower).

Shirtless Capitalist

Lower the weights so you can bring your arms lower, like others have stated. The more range of motion you have, the more and the better it's going to work your muscles.

Also, with that weight, it looked like you were favoring one arm (your right maybe), but I could be wrong. Just remember if one arm can lift the weight doesn't always mean they both can. Keep up the good work! emotion_brofist
