Pennie had scooted about, wiggling this way and that until she faced the trunk of the tree and Evie. With a growing smile, her Periwinkle eyes followed the girl's actions as well as looked upon the strange instrument, one of which she was unfamiliar with. Though as she began to play, her focus seemingly on the task at hand, Pennie gave a slight breath of realization as she recognized the sound as one often associated with ancient China.
Her smile steadfast, she allowed her body to lower backwards into the grass, her arms instantaneously crossing beneath her head to act as a sort of pillow. She kicked up her sneakers onto the trunk of the tree, ankles crossed, as her gaze wandered to the leaves over head and the way they swayed with the autumn breeze. With a soft sigh, Pennie played an ear to the song Evelynn was performing for her and with a look of satisfaction or face that could be described as saying, "not bad" she awaited the piece to finish afore commenting on it.
"Well.... it was...." She searched for the correct word before speaking it out, "...haunting. It sounded sad, maybe even tragic, but beautiful nonetheless. Where'd you learn to play like that?" She propped herself up on one elbow to regard the girl after having posed her question, a look of genuine curiosity on her features.
