Well, the opening ceremony was definitely a thing. He'd hoped to have payed attention to get to
know what this school was like, but he had found himself close to nodding off several times.
Damned insomnia. Though on his part, he had not actually tried to sleep until the wee hours in
the morning. He had, as he did most nights, lay awake, locked away in the world found between
his headphones, fishing for the words that would make up lyrics to his most recent song. It was
either panicking over the what-ifs and other disastrous projections of the future. But as the sun
made its way over the horizon, and the dull buzzing behind his eyes turned into a pounding
headache, he gave up his endeavours in favour of a few hours of sleep before his alarm went off.
No nightmares that night - a rare, blessed thing - but waking up still felt like hell. Maybe a shower
would help.
And a cup of tea.
Though by the time he had finished his shower, fixing his hair to suit his meticulous standards,
and triple-checking that everything he needed had been packed and was ready, he already
heard his mother's voice and the sound of the family car starting outside. Drat. At least he would
have time to nap in the car on the way there, waking up a couple hours later to see the school's
surroundings come into view. And oh, he was not ready to say goodbye yet. Though he put on a
brave face for his parents as they helped him get his luggage to his room, and made sure their
son would be happy and comfortable, he still shed a few tears as the door shut behind them. Pull
yourself together, he told himself, taking a few steadying breaths. The opening ceremony would
be starting soon, and he didn't want to miss it.
Now, as the students filed out of the auditorium - one he now had dreams of performing on
sometime - it just dawned upon him just what sort of world he was in. Students with fangs, and
animal appendages, wings, and... A girl, floating. Well, that was certainly something he would
have to get used to. And soon; gawking was rude, but he just couldn't help it. It was all just so
fascinating.
Feeling restless now after being seated for so long, Dimitri was eager to explore the school
grounds... but first things first was a long overdue cup of tea, and bite to eat.
