                                                                            IT'S ORIENTATION DAY

We're finally here! The day has come! Those rearing to go, sailing through the teleportation tubes to the grand steps, and climbing all the way up to the main enterance, IT IS TIME. For those who may have had a hiccup on the way, or just didn't really get out of bed for an orientation, that's okay! School and training hasn't officialy started yet! What we ARE here for is our brand new students to step up to the plate and receive a pack. It'll contain a health-and-safety regulation form (yes, we still do that kind of crap here in the future), a card with your dorm level and number on it, as well as a band with your TEAMS signet on it. It'll be the Greek numbers you've been placed into! How easy is that?! Not everything has to be complicated here in the year 7000 or so! BUT you won't know the teams yet. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHO'S IN WHAT TEAM. You know that there are fleets and squadrons, and thats how most of the highly respectable military force of Earth II came about, but other than that, NADA. That's what Orientation day was supposed to be about!

So, you're acceptance letter would've had a separate invitation in the same mail received. It's all done via a communication technology software (an advanced version of what we know as 'e-mail' - but holographic! and able to be retrieved on any screen available). The invitation will ask you to pass the main entrance of the Academy' establishment, and through the huge tinted and automatic doors. It'll lead you to the main foyer, with reception smack bang in the middle with a donut-shaped counter and three identical males working with computers (holographic screens plastered above the circular desk) and phones in the centre of it, facing different directions. Well, I say males, but really they're androids... Now, the MASSIVE shiny-white and hints of black foyer will be where you all gather, as said in the invitation. No one else but you, the androids, and your new peers are there though...

                                                                            Waiting.

Perhaps you should mingle? Perhaps you want to be quiet? Because let's be honest, it can be intimidating when a room is so quiet and echoey that the male androids typing sound like exaggerated clicking sounds inside your head. Perhaps you want to go over and demand what's going on?

Either way, it will not sway what our creative Directors have in store for Orientation day for all that have arrived.

Kami on a hover board, walking through crowds was annoying. People had no manners nowadays. Especially not for some delinquent kid fresh off the streets whose appearance and expression just screamed a*****e. Zander was not amused as he walked up the front steps to Xedeus. There were species of all types mulling around, but that was normal. He'd seen his fair share of interesting things but never in such a big group all at once. Screwing his mouth over to the side, the twenty year old sighed as he rubbed at the back of his neck, only to get bumped in to by some android. "Hey, watch it," he said, blatantly annoyed by the grimace he wore on his face. Clearly, the android had no desire to apologize and that just ticked him off. Growling under his breath, Zander moved to pull out his taser, only to have a hand placed on his shoulder. When his eyes turned to study the person connected to said hand, Zander's mood only soured. "Oh joy. Look who's here."

The culprit released his hold on Zander's shoulder soon after being acknowledged, letting his chiming laugh ring out and stab Zander's ear sockets. "Could you not, y'know, laugh? It's annoying as hell. Go be depressed or something. Or at least leave me alone, jeeze." Even as his irritation trickled from his tongue, the brunette released his hold on his weapon and instead shoved both hands into his pockets. Ulrick Tarr had been another member of Zander's gang back when such a thing existed. The guy was taller, blonder, buffer, and all around more annoying than anyone Zander had ever met in his entire life. Unfortunately, Zander just couldn't seem to shake the guy or his creepily bright purple eyes. "You going here, too, then?" The blue eyed male asked in a grunt, finally picking up his feet to move into the school. Again that freakishly joyous chuckle bubbled up from Ulrick, making Zander's top lip curl with disgust. How the hell was this guy so happy all the time? Wasn't he an orphan or something? "I was recommended to come here, too, remember Zanny?" Ulrick's voice was annoying. Especially when he called him... Zanny.

"That recommendation was more of a suggestion than an order. You didn't have to follow me here you fleabitten fungus," Zander grumbled while they climbed the stairs. Ulrick could only laugh at that response, always having found the other male's insults amusing. Throwing a dirty look at the taller male, Zander tried shaking Ulrick off to no avail. They ended up arriving at the orientation center together, slowly making their way through the line until it was finally their turn to receive their supplies. Zander made sure to stare at his former gang member until he slipped up and showed his arm band and let out a relieved sigh once he saw their emblems were different. That was fantastic. Zander wouldn't have to deal with this festering gumboil any longer. The thought even lightened up his mood, and the brunette nearly performed a heel click as he moved forward. Once more he tried to shake Ulrick off, but the blond was surprisingly agile. Then again, Zander shouldn't be surprised. He knew what Ulrick's power was. The guy had been born with supernatural tracking abilities, as if his brain was a map and he could choose to focus in on any point he wanted to zone in on them. It was impressive when they were committing crimes, but now when Zander just wanted to desperately get away, it was annoying.

When inside the eerily quiet room filled with other people around his age, Zander tilted his head to the side and scanned the area. The layout was nice and judging by the coding he could see on the screens in front of the androids, this was where they would be introduced to the mighty Xedeus. Giving a quiet gust of breath, Zander pushed his dark hair out of his face and shoved all the things he had just been given into his large overcoat pockets. "Hey, Zander?" Annoyed. "What the hell do you want?" He answered Ulrick, his voice clearly displaying how much he didn't want to talk to the blond, now or ever. "I don't know how this school is set up, but I know there's something about teams. I just wanted you to know that if we're going to be separated, I'm still going to look out for you. Just like in the years we were in Jackyl. I'll always be loyal to you." Ah, yeah. There it was. The source of Zander's annoyance and the reason he didn't want to be anywhere near this idiot. "Aren't you a little old to have crushes? Stop talking to me." The words were spoken quietly, but with a firmness that could only be interpreted as finality. He was done with Ulrick's childish love games. Zander had made it quite clear that he didn't feel the same as his former ally did, but the guy didn't know when to quit. It was so irritating.

That should have been the end of it, but of course, four years of admiration isn't extinguished in a single second. Ulrick took Zander by the shoulders, prepared to pour out his heart once again, but was stopped short when the shorter male pressed a single finger to his stomach and electricity flooded through Ulrick's body and ultimately tensed and crippled his body. The blond fell to his knees, purple eyes wide with surprise as he gasped and twitched on the floor. "Are you stupid? I said stop talking to me." With a click of his tongue, tch, Zander turned away from Ulrick and left him there in the crowd to stand as far away from him as possible. It was cruel, sure, but it was the only way that blockhead would leave him alone. It wasn't like it was the first time Zander had jolted Ulrick, anyway. It was closer to the hundredth, actually. None of the shocks were life threatening, but they did have the tendency to paralyze the body for a short amount of time.

Sighing loudly and listening as the noise echoed throughout the room, Zander chose to sit down right on the floor. Standing was taxing, and it didn't look like they were about to start any time soon from the point those androids were in their coding. The longer he sat there and waited in silence, the more and more Zander began to regret his actions toward Ulrick. Maybe he didn't have to be that rude, but... No, he did. If he showed even an ounce of sympathy he'd never shake Ulrick and that wasn't something Zander would be able to deal with. He was already comfortable with people hitting on him in general, but professing their love? It made his stomach feel queasy and he had the strangest urge to puke. The technologically savvy male had absolutely no experience in the love field, and quite frankly, it was terrifying. Not being able to control yourself at the expense of someone else? Terrible! Even if he was rather impulsive himself, Zander always did so because of his own needs. Risking stability for the sake of someone else? That was just plain stupid. Especially in this day and age where it was nothing but conflict and weird a** living beings with tentacles sticking out of their faces. He had made the right decision. He was more than able to cooperate in a team setting, but love? Hell no. There was no way he would ever fall for those kind of shenanigans.

There were good days, and there were bad days. Perhaps this, however, would be the best of Arc’s lifetime.

He had arrived in Su'idem just a few minutes ago, taking what had been his first journey on a proper monorail. The adjustment to the capital city had been something of a struggle for the blonde however. Where he had come from, the norm was single-story buildings, few and far between; acre-large yards – although, the most impressive plants you were bound to grow were gold grass, shrubs and a few gum trees, all tough enough to withstand the brittle red earth that had caused the mining boom in their area. Su'idem on the other hand may have well been the exact opposite. He’d heard of skyscrapers, but he had never imagined them to be so tall, nor so … shiny. With the reflective glass making up every face of every building, the capital glowed with cool shades of blue and silver. There wasn’t a lot of plant life in sight, with the exception of a few perfectly-trimmed trees that lined the sidewalk near the station. Even the leaves seemed more teal than green. Standing alone on the platform with only a duffle bag to hold onto, Arc forced himself to inhale deeply. ‘Just think of it as an adventure; everythin’ll b’fine once you get to Xedeus.’

And then it occurred to him that he had no idea where the academy was actually situated in the city. Fortunately for the flustered recruit, he managed to find a few other students who had arrived on the same train, as well as a droid who had been instructed to walk them to the complex from their current location. “Please follow me,” it whirred to them, its voice oddly metallic for the very human face it bore. Although somewhat unnerving, it was also incredibly fascinating. “Blimey,” Arc muttered. The closest to a droid he had ever experienced was the small robots located in the quarries, designated for basic labour jobs. They had been far more simple however, and they had not been designed in the image of their makers. As it started down the station’s steps and into the madness that was Su'idem’s concrete jungle, Arc took the time to introduce himself to the others in their entourage. The variety of ages, sizes and species was staggering.

The machine steered them through the winding streets and to an impressive set of gates; within, he could see the extravagant main building. To believe he had actually made it here, after everything he had been through, destined to work with the finest of their generation. It was almost enough to make him cry. Almost. They were herded onto the grounds, intructed to check the information that had arrived with their acceptance letter and promptly left behind by their guide, presumably on its way to find more hopelessly lost students. After a few moments, the group found their way to the main foyer. The décor was yet another blow to his senses; bright and cold, with small streaks of black here and there, the neutrality left him feeling somewhat lost. There were little to no homely features to grasp onto, and immediately he felt like less of a student and more of a facility lab rat. As he made his way through the crowd in search of a seat, he spotted three more of those droids, all bearing exactly the same visage. One of the stone-faced 'men' handed him a package and ushered him away from the desk. His original excitement surrounding the machines was swiftly waning.

He was in the process of trying to close the map now emanating from his phone when he noticed something in his peripheral vision, slowing to a stop as a result. In front of him, a boy was sitting unceremoniously on the floor. Well, that could have been messy; at least he had realised in advance, and not after injuring them both by tripping over the dark-haired stranger. “Ya ‘right?” he asked quietly, feeling more curious than concerned. Surely there had to be chairs around here somewhere – though, after taking a brief second glance, he had overestimated Xedeus’ hospitality. He looked back down at the sour-faced brunette and extended his hand for a shake. “G’day. Name’s Arc Scifer. Pretty amazin' place ain't it?” He added the last sentence in the hope of sparking some proper conversation, rather than letting their meeting dwindle with awkward introductions.

But Serena was a nervous wreck. She didn’t like the unknown and she was basically going into a situation completely blind, something she wasn’t used to. Xedeus Academy. All she knew was that she got in and that they gave her the orientation date and what she should pack. But that was it, nothing about what she was doing, why she was chosen, or how long this would even be. The past few days leading up to orientation she’s been feeling all sorts of emotions, but she couldn't tell if they were just because of her nerves…or it was something else. Today’s the day… she thought to herself. All of her stuff has been packed and sent over to Xedues for security checks, or that’s what she’s been told. Get a hold of yourself, you got this…you were chosen…

Serena arrived a little earlier to give her enough time to explore the campus a bit. She never really realized how big the place was, until now. She tried to act natural, like she belonged here and she’s crossed the campus hundreds of time before. But that probably made it worse; thankfully no one seemed to pay attention to her. This was nothing like her hometown. Everything was just so…planned out. She was used to flowers growing from the cracks on the sidewalks. She liked her home seemed like it was built upon one another, each adding its own flair. But this place was clearly built according to a certain design.

Somehow Serena found the orientation room. She was motioned to go to one of the three androids and was given a bag. She quickly fumbled through to see the contents and it looked like it had 3 things, some guidebook, a card and a band with “β”. She put everything back in and scanned the room. So far she only saw two people who have arrived before her. Was this it? Do I only have two classmates? I knew this was competitve but...really She quickly check the time to see that she was still a bit early. She sighed a breath of relief. Now what? She was terrible at socializing, probably because she could tell what the other person was going to say before they would say it. Nothing really interested her that much, but she also needed friends. She didn’t want to bother the two who were standing there…but who else could she interact with? Not the androids…

She mustered all the courage she could and walked over to where the other two were at. As she got closer she got a better sense of what they were feeling. The sitting one was annoyed, hopefully not at her. She was about to turn around, but she stopped herself from doing that. How strange would it be to have someone walk towards you and then just make a 180., especially if there wasn’t a reason. The standing one was giving off a much more positive vibe, which was comforting.

“This place is alright I suppose, a little too orderly for my taste.” Serena chimed in. She then realized that the question wasn’t directed towards her…nor was she physically there when they said it. “Umm…I couldn’t help but overhear you when I walked in…this place is really echo-y”. Which was true, so hopefully the others didn’t think she was spying on them on purpose. “So what letter is on your band? Names’ Serena by the way…oh and I got Beta.” As she said those things she started to notice how high pitched and unnatural sounding her voice was...like she was trying too hard. Hopefully they don't notice that too much, or write her off as strange. I hate orientation...

xxxxxThud, The hurdling of a body through the air came as a surprise to the crowd, only barely managing to separate in time, for the body to land butt first on the pavement, so much for a harmless trip. "Awhe taca u'thac neut thep wie." A pale white haired figure lay staring up at the unfamiliar blue sky, no one had told her teleportation tubes were such aggressive modes of transportation. A sea of blurred faces hurried past her, apparently Earth II wasn't a place of hospitality. Stumbling to her feet the young girl who, past the animal like ears protruding from her head, currently covered by earphones, and obviously not English language escaping her mouth- seemed mostly human and not threatening. After realizing where it was she had directly landed, in front of Xedeus Academy of special forces, sense would obviously be made. Yes this young girl, Urarin Elger, like most others entering the academy was an alien- of the Alguraen type for reference. By no means threatening looking or special, she did in fact manage to meet the high standards of this academy, and today was her orientation. "Páyna quat de sul? Ede, Urte?" Her eyes, one of amber and one of sapphire, scanned the building, when in doubt it's probably a good idea to follow the crowd. It was safe to assume that all of these people were new to the academy as well right? "Dapte, u'rsh arht shto nut, ni?" Looks of annoyance and confusion passed her by, why was no one stopping. Honestly how difficult was it to answer if they were also new to the academy? "Dapte!" This time her pleas reached the ears of someone, or thing, willing to speak back. "Orientation is this way Miss." Well he was cute, if you managed to get past his emotionless, almost robotic like face. "Dapte?" Her head tilted to the side, English was such a complex language, but she did manage to understand the word Orientation, so like a duckling to it's mother she followed closely behind him. Well he was odd, everything from the way he walked to the way he had spoken seemed so.. lacking in the department of life? Was the way he acted the way everyone on Earth II would? Without much thought she bit her lower lip, this would be a long and unpleasant stay if her assumptions were correct.

xxxxxEverything on this planet was loud too, even within the silence it was loud, how was that even possible? There wasn't too much time for contemplation as they promptly arrived where orientation was to be held, pausing before entering. "Miss," His pale hand held out a chip looking thing, hesitation along with his blank expression had her holding her breath as she reached for it. "Retbe de orit." Wait what? She furrowed her brows as he spoke her language like it was his own, well if he could do that why hadn't he done it in the first place, the nerve! She complied with his wishes immediately however, lifting her left ear phone and inserting the chip past the fur lining of her ear, unfamiliar voices echoed through. It sounded like a girl and a boy, and they were both astonishingly making complete sense to her now. "Ah, Wow this is great!" Darting her gaze excitedly back to where the male stood- eh had stood that is, at least he had helped her. With new resolution Ura entered the building. She had made it, albeit with a bump or two, but she was here none the less. Two options stood in front of her, three identical looking boys- really why did everyone look the same- standing at a desk, and the extremely small group of people within the poorly decorated room, at least on Ku'arthen people knew how to decorate.

xxxxxFirst thing first, get situated, and that meant having to approach the desk, it was all becoming far to clear now, 'Androids., so much for the possibility of a reverse harem.. Eh, not that I had been thinking that!'' She averted her gaze from the android she stood in front of, her beet red face starring at the ground as he handed her a bag before going back to ignoring her existence. "T-thank you kindly." Well that was one thing down, all that was left was the people standing on the other side of the room. 'Ah, so... different.' So this is what everyone looked like, they weren't all identical, which was good, and though none were purple in hue like many people she knew, they all were in some sense or the other, enchanting. Sure there were plenty of different races on Ku'Arthen, one that didn't happen to live there- mainly due to their lungs being unable to deal with the atmosphere, were humans and wow was being able to see them something crazy. Her grip on the bag tightened as she approached a small group, opting to lean against the wall a few feet away from them as opposed to be directly beside them. For one, the boy plopped on the ground looked like he was about to murder someone, maybe he could glare someone to death, the two standing, a blonde human male and pink haired human female, had an air about them, and she would keep her distance for now. ' Act like you're not listening.' Her eyes darted from one side of the room to the other before she fiddled with her bag, opening it and studying the contents, a small book a card and a band with what she assumed was a Greek number. Studying the human past and present language probably would have been smart. "What are these?" she stared at the card and book, guide book- obvious enough. A card- maybe for her room assignment? But the band eluded her, perhaps her orientation group? Why did they have to make everything so complicated already?

With who?: Many a faces.
But where?: Within the Foyer
Don't think that!: Wow wow wow, This is amazing!

The scene was serene to say the least. Vora's personal android was buzzing her room's bell, alerting her to rise and prepare for the day. But Vora didn't need such an alarm. She was already awake and propped up on her bed, staring out at the rising sun. She sat there, still. For how long was anyone's guess. She drunk in the peaceful atmosphere, knowing it was her last morning isolated in her own home before she took her life-changing step into the one and only Xedues Academy. It was orientation day. It was the day she'd start a new adventure and drive toward a new way to prove her parents she was capable of anything. "Miss Rye... It is time to depart.." Vora finally turned toward her door and sighed. She tapped a screen within reach of her bed. It opened the automatic door and allowed the female droid to step in. The droid's appearance did not hide the fact it was robotic, and it wore only a white tunic and white matching slacks. The only difference it had from the other droid servants of the Rye household was this droid had a silver pin upon the left side of the top - a symbol to mark Vora's own. But Vora could always tell which droid was hers without the pin now. "I know, Epsy. I'm hungry, though." The droid - known as Espy because of Vora's variation to the droids model code 'EP-S3' - did a little sigh of it's own. This was why Vora would always be able to tell her apart from the others. The droid developed it's own reactions toward Vora's attitudes, after being her nurse-maid since the age of three. "Fine, but do not dawdle, Little Miss. You could be late."

                                                                          Vora scoffed. "I'm never late."

It was true. Velvora was one of those gifted human children that were able to wield powers far from Earth I's norm. From her first year since birth Vora was able to react minutes faster than her regular classmates. Then at the age of six did she start to show inhuman speed in every action, from eating to walking to writing... Her parents seemed super happy though. Actually, her parents expressed their love for her gift more than even herself. So, Vora was not worried of being tardy. She took her time to finish breakfast, and leisurely got dressed and finished packing a few more essentials for what will be her new home in the next set of school semesters. Ready and armed, Vora made her way to their family vehicle. "Don't forget to inform your parents of your safe arrival, Miss Rye. Vora chucked her belongings in the cargo space before addressing Espy. "Get real, Epsy, honestly" She rolled her eyes and her maid-bot sighed for the second time that morning. "I'll be seeing you later then." Epsy nodded once and raised an arm to wave mechanically. After all those centuries improving, technology was capable of even producing droids that continue to even grow personalities themselves, albeit very slowly. "Take care, Miss." And with that, Vora was driven away to what she hoped was a better place than her own home.

Upon arrival, Vora dramatically flicked her hair off to the side and had her droid-driver-slash-lackey handle the luggage. Other droids from the academy institute started swarming in, processing the large amount of bags that had to be transported. The fifteen-year-old human, in her uptight persona, took no notice of the fret these droids were making with her possessions. She simply strolled away gracefully up the main staircase to the main entrance. She may have lived most of her life surrounded by these machines, but Vora knew where she stood in terms of hierarchy. She lived a life of luxury, and her parents made sure to constantly tell her she was no mere (super-powered) human, but one born with a status. A status, of course, she had to persistently prove she was worthy of. A status that caused isolation and exhaustion. But Vora never dwelled on those details. She had other things to think about now, such as why the academy had to be so goddamn mysterious.

"So much for doing my best not to be late" Vora found only a few set of students milling in the vast blinding-white space of the reception. The only furniture she could spot so far being the androids and their lack-of-an-opening donut counter. She was graced with a package of sorts though, so that was something. But pulling out a random band with a greek symbol on it just gave more questions than answers. "Brilliant" she said to herself sarcastically. Then, without hesitation, Vora made her way to the closest male-bot at the reception and slammed a hand down in front of him. It cause the holographic computer image to falter from view, but the droid persisted with his work. "Hey!" Again, no acknowledgement. "Oh great, so much for a reception. What am I supposed to be doing here?"

With a question now at hand, the droid lifted his head and simply responded "Sorry, reception is closed for the morning. If you are a beginning Xedues student, you must wait here until further notice. Thank you for your patience."

"And when will this 'notice' come exactly?!"

"Sorry, reception is closed for the morning. If you are a beginning Xedues student---""You've got to be joking!" Vora turned away in a huff as the droid continued with his programmed speech. So much for answers.. As she continued to walk away, Vora looked back down at her band with the branded symbol 'γ', puzzling over it's importance. And at the moment, when all guard was down, was she completely and utterly unaware of her surroundings.

So, what was to happen when she wasn't paying attention (which, mind you, was very rare for her)? Well, she tripped, of course! "EE!" She threw her arms forward in a flash of a second and reflexively rolled to prevent from falling on her face. She looked up, red in the face with annoyance and embarrassment, only to find it was not her own fault but a young man... Who was sitting on the ground surrounded by a few! He was sitting on the ground "What on Earth are you thinking?! Are you some kind of animal?!" Vora stood up and dusted her self off. She placed her clenched fists on her hips then, annoyed at the dark-haired male and unregistering everyone else. They hadn't even started and she was already being made a fool by someone else! How completely ridiculous! "Don't just sit wherever you feel like it! I don't know where you came from, but we're supposed to be civilised here, you got that?!"

"So I told the guy, "No that's not a Rekkaji, it's an Oshawoo!" " Rowan threw his hands up in emphasis. The black haired teenager next to him doubled over in laughter, holding his stomach. "Oh my god!" He kept laughing for a solid twenty seconds before he wiped his eyes and stood up straight again. "That was a solid joke man. Dear god." He chuckled one more time before sighing. Rowan grinned widely. "Thanks. Anytime you need a good terrible joke, I'm your guy. By the way, the name's Rowan, since I think we forgot to introduce ourselves." He extended his hand towards the black haired teenager. "Oh s**t we did. Sorry man. The name's Ling. It's really nice to meet you." Ling took his hand out of his pocket and returned the pleasantry. As the two shook hands, the tram came to a stop. There was a ding, then a pleasant, soft robotic voice filled the cabin. "Attention passengers; we have arrived at our destination. Xedeus Academy."

Ling grinned widely from ear to ear. He looked over at Rowan, sparkles in his eyes. "This is it man. Are you ready?" The kid was practically shaking where he stood. Rowan chuckled and pushed him out of the automatic tram doors. "Oh hell yes. Are you kidding me? I've been waiting years and years for this. Let's do this." Together the two walked off of the station platform and walked out onto the grand entrance of the academy. "Oh my god..." Ling looked up at the grand entrance, mouth wide. Rowan reached over and shut it. "You haven't even stepped foot inside. Don't even act impressed yet. Just you wait." He himself didn't know what the academy looked like behind the grand doors, but he had heard stories about huge glass buildings and great metallic structures. Hopefully the stories held true.

After about three seconds of Ling not budging, Rowan sighed and pushed him through the doors again. "Let's gape at everything later, once registration is done. Come on." Pushing Ling through the doors accomplished absolutely nothing. Once past the doors, Ling stopped dead in his tracks again, this time eyeing everything around him. This time, Rowan gaped with him. The front courtyard was huge, not to mention beautiful. It wasn't a conventional beauty, it was... majestic. Regal. ... and really ******** huge. The courtyard itself stretched out a good long distance, metallic and glass windowed structures and buildings lined along the way. All of it glittered and shone brightly in the sunlight, so much it was nearly blinding. Rowan composed himself, stranding up straight and whistling at the sight. Man, he had never seen anything like this. Sure, he had been to a few big cities, but they were almost nothing compared to this. This was all so technologically advanced, so luxurious. And hell, he wasn't even inside the academy yet. His mind wandered about the possibilities inside.

Rowan looked over at Ling, who was still gaping. "Are you ready to get registered?" He nudged the ravenette. Ling snapped out of his staring state and sighed apologetically. "No man, sorry. I've got some old friends that I'm supposed to meet up with first. We were going to meet up then all go get registered together. Where though, I have no idea." Ling grimaced, already preparing for the fact that he was probably going to get lost. Rowan shrugged and smiled. "It's all cool man. Hopefully I'll see you around, right." He pointed at him. "No doubt man." Ling grinned and slapped his hand against Rowans in a handshake. "Alright. Well I'll catch you later then. Good luck finding your friends. Try not to get lost." He chuckled and clapped Ling on the back and started to make his way towards the academy.

He made it all the way to the center of the courtyard before he had to stop. Where... was he even going? He didn't even know where he was supposed to go. He knew he was supposed to get registered, but... where the hell was that? Shouldn't there be huge arrow signs around here saying, "Wonderful new students, right this way!". Of course there weren't. Jesus. He was accepted into a prestigious military academy, renowned for it's intellect and prize students, when he himself couldn't even remember where he was supposed to go. And one would think that he would at least be smart enough to remember to bring the map that had come in the mail with everything else. ... but no. You would be very, very wrong. Sighing, Rowan looked around. At least there were androids everywhere. And they looked like they belonged to the academy. Hopefully one would be able to tell Rowan where to go.

He flagged one down. Right as he was about to speak, he stopped. He had never actually approached an android before. He had seen them countless times before, but he had never actually ever spoken to one. Did you need, like, a password or something to talk to it? Did you need to talk loudly to it? What if it didn't speak human language? Wait, that last one was a really stupid question. Whatever. He decided to just go for it. "EXCUSE ME KIND ROBOTIC SIR." Rowan winced, hoping he wasn't looking like a total idiot. He leaned in closer to the android. It was all or nothing. "COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THE REGISTRATION OFFICE IS? I FORGOT MY MAP AT MY PLACE OF LIVING." Place of living? What? People were definitely staring at him. Yup, he was an idiot. Dear god.

The android whirred and blinked at him. "Why, yes sir. The registration office is on the other side of the courtyard, in that building over there." It turned and pointed to a building. Oooh, okay. Rowan remembered seeing a picture of that building in his packet. How convenient that it was at home though. "THANK you so much." He lowered his voice, realizing he was an idiot, and nodded at the android. How very helpful. Right as he was about to leave, he noticed the android still staring at him. Well... what was he supposed to do now? Shake hands? Was he supposed to tip it for its services? With what?- oh forget it. Time to go. He turned around and practically sprinted to the registration building.

Finally Rowan entered the automatic doors and walked through the grand foyer that was the registration office. Everything was so... shiny. And metallic. And clean. And cool. Resisting the urge to gape at everything again, Rowan looked forward. There was the front desk, a round, almost donut like shape, complete with working androids behind it. He started to make his way there, but stopped when he realized there were other people in the foyer with him. Five people to be exact. What looked like two guys (one sitting down... on the floor?) and three girls. The male sitting down had raven colored hair, the male standing up had fiery orange and red hair, one female had white hair, and the other two had pale pink hair. Wait... hold up. He recognized that pale pink hair and that attire- "Hey!" Rowan nearly dropped his bag. He had totally forgotten that she was going to be here today too. "Guess whooo." He walked over to Serena, wrapping his arms around her from behind and squeezing her into a hug.

The dim shadow of the main gate cloaked his shoulders like a dark blanket as the redhead passed his way underneath the large linear rectangle. Before him a long courtyard stretched, shimmering square pools of shallow water dotting towards the towering mass of the grand building before him, throwing glittering light reflections onto passerby’s. Here and there students and staff milled about in chattering groups or strode with purpose across the expansive courtyard with clipped steps. Above them the hum of landing and departing airships could be heard in bursts of coordinated noise and the crackle of electronic devices and teleportation pads chimed busily in on occasion.

Xedeus Academy in all its opulence was awe inspiring at its worst and positively breath-taking and a tad bit intimidating at its best. In fact if it weren’t for the fact that he was used to being tugged by his dad through the lobbies of such lavish establishments by now he probably would’ve simply turned on his heel and just left. In those sorts of situations it had always been a very nerve wracking moment despite the very pretty things surrounding him. It was always dad’s workplace and dad’s job where he could get into trouble for the slightest mishap and for the love of god son don’t touch anything! But here it was different. Here he’d been accepted into the coveted classes of the Academy – personally invited for that matter and luckily enough for him, Betelgeuse – or Betel for short if you were feeling particularly familiar, was pretty adaptive when it came to his environment. To put it shortly…

He was going to touch everything.

Almost lazily Betel meandered his way past the shimmering pools, his head turning upwards to take in the looming Academy building that seemed to stretch forever upwards until it teased at the clouds. He was a pretty lanky fellow, lithe in body shape and a good deal tall in height. Among the polished looking buildings and equally as prim people his rustic auburn colored hair stood out like a smudge of color among the gleaming chrome and transparent glass. His body was clothed in a pair of casual working navy blue coveralls and cinched loosely at the waist by a belt. A lopsided grin curled its way across his lips, crinkling the skin that hemmed the edge of the eye-patch covering his right eye. In the breast pocket of his coveralls the acceptance letter he’d received ages ago was folded neatly and tucked inside, the edges creased to the point of falling apart from repeated re-reading.

Some small part of him was probably nervous, filled with impatient apprehension, possibly sad and just the slightest bit homesick at the thought of leaving his pops all alone in that empty house. He was probably going back and forth in his mind about whether or not this whole thing was even a good decision but the negative feelings swirling in his chest were be far crushed under the weight of the sheer amount of excitement he was feeling at the moment. The thrill of endless opportunities opening up before him filled his mind and he couldn’t help but grin stupidly at everything around him as he approached the massive glass paned front of the reception area. The doors slid open automatically with that silent whoosh of air being moved and Betel ducked inside the quiet air-conditioned foyer.

This is it - he thought as he crossed the massive echoey room, his scuffed boots clicking loudly on the smooth tiling as he passed by a group of idly loitering people. This is it - this is the start of everything. This is the moment that was going to change his life (hopefully for the better), this was his chance to strive mightily through life and reach for his goals among the stars! He had this. He totally had this. With an easy grin Betel reached the funny donut shaped desk (man was he hungry) and with an air of relaxed casualness he leaned familiarly against the counter, his fingers curling around the edge as he gave the trio of androids a polite nod.

“Yo, I’m here for-” He began and the android closest to him gave a whir, its head turning in his direction as he felt its scanners process his presence from head to toe.
“ID?” It demanded unblinkingly and Betel hesitated, his one eye squinting at the automaton in confusion.
                                                    “…ID?” He repeated slowly.
                                                    “Identification?”
“Uh…” The redhead floundered, his hands automatically going down to pat absentmindedly at his pockets. s**t! Had they…had they mentioned anything about…? He could’ve sworn he’d checked and double checked everything he needed for orientation! Damnit it wasn’t even the first day and already strike one! “I wasn’t…I wasn’t aware I needed-?” The thing gave a seemingly exasperated click, its slender fingers pausing against the holographic keyboard.
“Identification is required for all maintenance personnel.” It intoned seriously and Betel faltered, his mouth hanging open slightly in momentary surprise. What?

                                                    What.

And he’d worn his good pair of coveralls today too…

“Uh…no see, I’m here for the Orientation? For the Academy?” He replied a bit sullenly now, his fingers reaching up as if in evidence to press against the pocket that contained the neatly written acceptance letter. Was it even possible for androids to look skeptical? Because this one sure did. It gave a processing whir, paused for a moment as if regarding him and then as if it hadn’t just possibly insulted a new recruit the automaton turned back to its computer and began typing away once again.
“Of course. Here is your Orientation packet. If you are a beginning Xedues student, you must wait here until further notice. Thank you for your patience.” It droned off mechanically, its voice professional and bored sounding.

Betel snatched up the offered pack with a slightly disgruntled frown and stepped off to the side out of the way. Some of his eagerness returned though as he rifled through the package, his lithe fingers brushing past sketchy looking forms that needed to be filled out and small cards containing what was probably very crucial information concerning his life here. His skin brushed cool metal and with a curious expression he tugged the circular ring free from its nest and turned it around thoughtfully. A letter ß was etched neatly into its surface and Betel ran his thumb almost tenderly over the mark before deftly securing it around his wrist without hesitation.

With that he wandered off towards the edge of the room a bit to oogle the place some more when a quiet murmur nearby caught his attention. His gaze flickered over to a dainty looking white haired girl with earphones on her head who was currently musing over her own metal band. With a wry grin Betel ambled over to her side and abruptly reached out, his own band secured around his wrist giving a metallic cling as he bumped it with her own.
“It’s prolly a mind-reading device used to track your level of loyalty to the Academy. I hope you’re feeling particularly devout or it’s likely to fry your brain.” He teased coyly, his back slouching up against the wall to lean back beside her. He glanced back over at her then to see if she was taking him seriously or not and his gaze caught sight of the actual letter that graced her’s. “Heyo~ We’ve got the same symbol!” He exclaimed aloud, pointing a long finger down at the object grasped in her hands, a goofy little excited grin teasing at the edge of his lips. The screech of a girl’s high pitched voice drew his attention back to the center of the room where the group of people had been loitering, just in time to watch some little girl pull off a rather impressive recovery roll. ”Aha whoa, did someone lose their kid? He blurted out, possibly a little too loudly.

Bellather stared at the android that was currently blocking his way, and bit back a growl, choosing to rather to sigh in frustration. The trip to Earth II had been an experience none could really prepare him for, as so few Riscanjervaars left their home cities for longer to complete a cycle at one of the schools, never mind actually left the planet. He was one of the few, even of his younger generation, to venture forth into the relative unknown. Oh, his people weren’t completely out of the loop, they stayed in contact enough to know that Earth II was the current leading force in the world, and the College had actually hired a human to come teach the language at the school so that its graduates were prepared when these people stopped at the rather out of the way planet. Still travel of this magnitude was just not done. The fact that one of his standing was leaving the planet to attend a different school other than the college, with the blessing of his matriarch none the less had been quite the scandal.

Still, he had survived the trip intact. He had even survived the trip through the teleportation tube, which in his mind was considerably worse. He had managed to find the main entrance using the flow of people and a map he couldn’t comprehend as guides. He had managed to steel himself against the landscape that seemed as though it would overrule even him with its unnaturally tall buildings of metal and glass, and the mummers of the shorter humans that stopped to gawk as he passed by. He had managed so far with his limited English, which his tutor had assured him was at least conversational, he would manage so far without the chip the android, he had learned on the trip here what the thing was called, was insisting he wear. It was against his beliefs to do as the insistent thing wanted. He wasPerirashin! He was not allowed to have more than two items inserted into his ears, ever!

Still it appeared as though the thing wasn’t going to allow him into the building without it, and he was beginning to create a scene as he kept trying to dodge around it. One might think his natural height and grace would come in handy here, but the android was unnaturally good at blocking. “Badb Catha” Bellather swore finally giving up his fight with the android once and for all and reluctantly removing the earring from his right lobe and taking the chip. “There. Happy swords take you,” Bellather muttered as he slid the chip into place just inside his inner ear as indicated, and frowning as it turned and walked away without comment. How the thing had even known he was wearing, and had evidently needed the chip was beyond him, and apparently he wouldn’t be getting any answers either.

“Badb Catha” Bellather swore again, before finally stepping through the automatic door into a burst of cool air that took his breath from him and had him shivering in the carefully tailored uniform his mother had commissioned for him. He stepped aside taking a moment to adjust to the difference in temperature again wondering ’‘do these humans need so much variety’ as he did so. By the All Mother, did he ever miss the steady warmth of home. For a moment he felt the overwhelming need to turn and leave. To return home, fulfill the thrice blessed contract, and become the pretty boy he was expected to be, but then his own nature, the inner strength of will that allow Riscanjervaars to survive the Fall of Isserver, kicked in and he straightened his back, pulled his pack, containing the information given to him on his acceptance, including the map he had placed back in it during his fight with the android and approached the circular front desk.

Bellather stared at the male, at least it looked vaguely male, android and didn’t say anything, not sure what to say really. The entrance was large and very open, devoid of furniture except for this single desk and it remind him of home in as many ways as it reminded of how very different Earth II was from it. Despite its lack of features, it was organized; it carried the same feeling of waiting that the Hall of Faith in the College did. Yet, its starkness, it’s lack of wood, and people really, were so very different. Bellather couldn’t decide if he liked the place or not, honestly it was all he could do to keep from looking at everything with open mouth wonder. So instead he stared at the droid, focused on the droid, willed the android to speak….and apparently the android was doing the same thing, because it wasn’t saying a word.

“Where is the Orientation?” Bellather finally asked, because, really, that is all he wanted to know from the thing. “If you are a beginning Xedues student, you must wait here until further notice. Thank you for your patience.” Bellather blinked and took the bag that was handed to him before heading toward a wall, not far from where a group of people, he couldn’t say humans because the one with the headphones clearly wasn’t human, ’‘though I guess I could have classified them as fellow students’, gathered and peered into the bag.

He had no idea what any of its contents were for. He decided to leave the papers in the bag for now, deciding to look at them later, when there was possibly someone to translate them for him and instead pulled out the band, holding it, and the bag in one hand as he swung his pack from his shoulder and lifted the flap like top, shoving the book and card, bag and all, into it before swinging it back onto his shoulder and turning the band on his hand looking it over closely. It was plain. A solid piece of material with a single dark triangle burned or etched into it, which he understood about as well as he did the words on the book and the card. Needless to say it joined the rest of the information given him in his pack.

Or at least it was until he happened to catch a few pieces of conversations from the group he was standing near. “Pardon me. I didn’t mean to overhear, but do you know what this means?” He asked as he stepped closer to the group, turned so that his request would address the young man with long hair…’and an eye patch’. Only to be cut off by a startled yelp which drew his eyes down towards the floor and the human sitting there.

He turned away from the pink haired girl as his attention was drawn back to the red head by the males overly loud comment, his head tilting as his gift picked up signals of irregularity within the males body. “I am sorry, but are you aware…” Bellather started, his hands taking on a slight shimmer as he fought to control his more active gift. He did not know for sure what was wrong with the male, but with what he was being told, whatever it was would take a lot more to fix than simple hand contact, and he had learned his lesson long ago about trying to heal things he didn’t know about.

“What I was wondering was if you knew what this means, what it is for?” Bellather said a moment later, reiterating his previous question.

Earth II, the place where Xedeus Academy resides upon. What a weird planet for Emii-Lee, she had no idea what other creatures resided in there. The amusement of "Earth II", made Emii more ecstatic than she already was. She was still on her home planet, and the only means of getting to another planet was to summon a guardian, but for her, that was difficult. She didn't have the powers to do what the rest of her race could do, and with the thought of a guardian taking you to another planet, made Emii a little frustrated. So, with that frustration, led her to ask for permission from her parents, of course after waking up from the nap she so happily loved.

After awaking from the nap, the petite girl sat up, rubbing her eyes whilst covering her mouth for an incoming yawn. Observing her surroundings, she looked down at her Azarnuf - which in human terms, would be a alarm clock. Gently switching it off, she lazily plopped herself at the side of the bed, scooting at the edge and sleepily falling off. The immediate fall to the ground only made her groan, too tired to even realise how much pain she caused herself, while her cat-like ears flinched as she hit the ground. It was what her clumsy side had decided to do. Upon hearing the fall, her parents rushed in, gasping and quickly helping her up. "Astou fuluoey mnas swhu, Emii-Lee Rose!" Which, in human language meant, "You're so very clumsy, get changed for Earth II, Emii-Lee Rose!" It wasn't as long as their own language words, but it meant the same thing.

Emii nodded at her parents concern, grabbing both their hands and standing up. She watched as her parents went out of her bedroom, and her body froze for a couple of minutes before running out and catching up to her parents. "Ma, Huaste thuar nmaas guajar? O'plas?" The question was quite obvious itself, and Emii had hoped her parents would agree, and of course, they happily did. The petite girls' face lit up in excitement, jumping up and down like a little child, bear-hugging her parents and ecstatically running back into her room to get dressed. Emii wondered what to wear, going through all her vintage-type clothes and finally picking the special one. Once she had put on her clothes, the girl looked in her special mirror, her ears pointing upwards in a happy expression, and observing herself in her clothes. She liked her look, which was always a good thing.

Once happy with the way she looked, she headed out of her bedroom, down the vine-like stairs, the acceptance letter in one hand and straight towards her parents - who happily summoned her a special guardian of her own, Alfur. This guardian was big, feathery, looking quite fierce but protective and loyal of it's owner - which turns out to be Emii, all thanks to her parents. Her parents looked over to her - her mother in tears, while her father composed himself, proud of his daughter for being accepted into such an academy. Hugging her parents like crazy, Emii shed a tear before she let go, wiping it away the moment her arms were not around her parents anymore. The Alfur held it's big paws around the Esgarrouth youth, allowing her to wave one last time before disappearing in thin air.

                                                        ❃----------⋙ T I M E ☝ S K I P

Finally arriving at Earth II, at the Xedeus Academy, Emii covered her mouth for another incoming yawn. The academy was quite huge to her, but then again, she had never seen one before. The Alfur gently let go of her, plopping her on the ground, and following her every move. Looking at the acceptance letter, it showed some sort of hologram explaining where to go, what to do and what to expect. Looking over at her big furry guardian, she nodded at him, hopefully she knew it was to follow her, which the Alfur was already ahead of. Letting out a nervous sigh, she tried to keep her best to stay calm. She wasn't nervous because of how big the academy looked to her, it wasn't intimidating, it was the fact that she was to meet new people of different races. The fact that she was going to have to talk to these certain people, sent nervous chills down her spine, especially since she hadn't really made friends in her own race.

Alfur could see how nervous she was, and gently put his big feathery paw on her head, calmly trying to pat her on the head to say that she wasn't alone. A smile spread across her face at her guardian, and this allowed her to finally be able to enter the academy, only to be stopped by one of the androids. "Excuse me, girl, pets are not allowed to be here." The android spoke, which sounded like gibberish to the poor girls' ears. Emii tilted her head to the side, confused at what the android was saying. Upon noticing the tilting of the girls' head, the android managed to take a glance at the acceptance letter in her hand, and handed her this chip-like looking thing. Again, confusion was the girls' only expression, which made the Android look at her and then the chip, rinse and repeat.

Once Emii realised what this crazy android was doing, the expression on her face turned out in surprise, as she finally understood what it meant. Placing the chip in her cat-like ear, it fit perfectly! And she could hear almost all the humans talk, the excitement in her face grew, even though she was still so nervous. The attention flew back on the guardian. "Now that you can understand me, pets are not allowed here." Pets? This guardian was not her pet. How dare this android call her guardian a pet. This started to make Emii annoyed, the tint of blue on her skin starting to show. "While I appreciate this thing you gave me, this "pet" is not a pet! It is my guardian, which my family proudly gave to me! So I appreciate if you NOT call my guardian a PET!" The rage in her voice made the android flinch, bowing as it's own way of apologising. Emii could not believe the rudeness of such a race, she had never met anyone who would call a guardian a pet. She just couldn't grasp as to why.

The Alfur appreciated her words, even though he could not understand it, he could understand the feelings of her rage. He knew the android had insulted something of hers, and he automatically knew it was about him. "How can such a race like that, be so rude to ours. Makes no sense." She muttered to herself, holding her guardians paw and making her way to the reception. There were other people around, waiting for something, but it was something she knew nothing about. "Excuse me, I would like to know where I should wait?" Asking politely, she looked at the android who seemed to be rather busy, but once the android noticed her, he simply responded with, "Sorry, reception is closed for the morning. If you are a beginning Xedues student, you must wait here until further notice. Thank you for your patience." This made Emii slightly irritated, a small tint of blue showing on her skin once again. Letting out a heavy sigh, she decided to head over to the loud noises that were going on. Alfur being just behind her, and her hand still holding his huge paw.

Watching as a cream-haired girl was getting irritated with the male sitting on the ground, Emii had never seen such a dramatic scene before, apart from herself. She had no idea if she was the last one to arrive, but to her, it sure seemed like it. There already seemed to be a lot of people, and just thinking about talking to them, made her even more nervous. She hadn't realised that having such a huge guardian would attract attention, and she still hadn't realised if it did. So, she slowly made her way into the corner of the room, shying away from most of the people there. To her, having no friends wasn't a problem, her only mission was to make her parents proud and to at least accomplish something. She wanted this, big time, and it meant not having any friends, then that was fine. She at least had her guardian, someone she knew she could definitely trust.

xxxxx 'It's so cold.' Goosebumps found their way to Ura's pale arms- how humans enjoyed such severe temperatures was beyond her warmth loving Alguraen comprehension, as she turned the cool metal band in her hands. 'ß... What could it be?!' Her thoughts lasted only moments before being broken by a loud, aggressive voice. A petite light haired girl caught her eyes, the anger filled words spewing from her mouth were a point of note for Ura, stay out of her way. It was always the little ones wasn't it? Her voice bounced off the walls, echoing past the teens filtering earphones and into her sensitive ears. Now in reality the girl probably wasn't that loud, but when your have enhanced hearing everything seems twenty times louder than it actually is, unfortunately. More people entered, visiting the android center before proceeding further into the now freezing, sterile, somehow ominous room. Two males, both with hair that reminded her of the grass lands she had grown up near on Ku'arthen. The taller male wore what could only be described as a take on a Re'hots garb, the equivalent to one who was designated with lower duty jobs, while the other male was dressed with more dignity.
The sight of the Re'hots facial expressions brought a smile to Ura's face, he sure was animated. With her attention shifting back to the group a few feet away a new sight caused her to blush. 'Ah, is this a human mating ritual!?' Well weren't they the type to get right to business. Much to her dismay there wasn't much time to register the sight (was he fondling the girl? Or was it just an odd gesture of familiarity? Ura would get to the bottom of it!) when the sound of footsteps approaching caught her attention. The Re'hot stood in front of her, smiling a smile that in one way made her want to run and in another made her want to smile as well. As his eyes- well eye, met hers she took in his energy, well he was rugged for certain but something about his also seemed oddly fragile.

xxxx His words however pleasantly put they were, caused her eyes to widen in concern, well now she was certain she had question the sanity of Earth II's inhabitants. At a loss for words to express her new found fears, and with her mind now moving at a hundred miles per hour with questions, she had almost missed his next statement. "Same symbol?" Her gaze returned to the band in her hands catching a glance at his as well, both bands were clearly branded with the ß. Now what could matching symbols mean? And dear creators it was just metal right? She questioned her self once more before staring at the man in front of her again, how would he have known? "Oh?" The sound of a new smooth voice rang out, the holder of said voice approaching just as elegantly, his astonishingly long purple hair flowed behind him. 'Ears...' Riscanjervaar, she had only read of them in her texts books at her old academy and to see one in the flesh was quite a sight. Within the midst of his questioning the red headed male beside her an unpleasant pain had Urarin flinching placing her hands over her earphones. "Ah!" Her body recoiled at the high pitched and extremely loud -for her anyway- sound of a scream. She would need to acquire a stronger set of protective earphones for Earth II use seeing as speaking in a quiet tone was impossible for its inhabitants. She managed to recover quickly a frown taking the place of her smile as the shouting continued, the familiar venom spewing voice of the girl Ura had taken note of earlier not faltering in her assault on the cause of her tripping.
'Too loud,'
With each shouted statement the petite girl made Ura found herself flinching slightly.
"Too loud." She whimpered quietly, there was no escape from her. Even scooting closer to the red headed male- who had pointed out the girls small stature and pre-pubescent energy, made very little difference.

xxxxx "A mind reading device." Ura found herself answering the Riscanjervaar's question for her Re'hot friend, not intentionally, but as a means of distracting herself from the other groups noises. "Was that not what you claimed it to be, Re'hot?" She directed her gaze to him, when the sight and sound of something much larger caught her attention. "Zreot... How beautiful." A very pretty petite girl with ears unidentifiable to Ura stood in the corner and beside her was a seemingly feathered creature of massive stature, a breathtaking sight indeed. With the young girls entrance that made for at least three non-human students, sure she had been expecting more but as humans put it, beggars couldn't be choosers. With each new student who entered the space within the foyer dwindled, how much longer would all of them have to wait, and where could she request new earphones?

With who?:The Re'hot & Riscanjervaar
But where?: Foyer
Don't think that!: Please stop shouting, what a beautiful creature.

The first of what was clearly going to be many inconveniences stumbled upon Zander in the form of a good looking blond boy. He came at the brunette with a much too peppy smile and an accent Zander couldn't place for the life of him. "Personally, I'm just dandy," he replied, his voice straining to sound anything other than totally disinterested. He may have just performed a rather low blow to a former teammate, but he didn't want to make any unnecessary enemies. "Arc, huh?" he mulled the name over in his mouth and decided it fit the blond guy before he nodded and took Arc's hand in a firm shake. "The name's Zander. If my intuition is serving me well enough, our matching bands mean we'll have something in common while we're here. I'm sure it'll be great to work with you." Though his words were flattering, Zander's tone was equivalent to that of a telemarketer who had been giving the same spiel to people multiple times a day for years -- that is to say, completely bored. "This 'place' is standard for this part of Su'idem. You're probably a country guy, huh? You ever been to a big city like this?"

The next person to join their slowly growing group was female, and that immediately put a thorn in Zander's side. He wasn't much for interaction with the opposite gender; something about their tendencies always made him want to fry them alive. It was a good thing he always put off that unapproachable vibe so no one ever really tried to hit on him -- he'd be a world renowned murderer by now. "It's rude to butt in on other people's conversation," Zander spoke bluntly, as usual, his blue eyes slipping shut so he didn't have to look at the female. "Arc here and I are both Delta, to answer your question. Looks like we won't be around you." The way the words stopped abruptly, it sounded as if Zander had physically refrained himself from saying 'thank Kami,' and that was exactly the case. He was not a sexual person in the slightest, but he for some reason just detested women.

Out of his peripheral vision, Zander spotted yet another female who thankfully didn't approach the group he had attracted and instead perched herself against one of the walls. Good. Less women to annoy him. Unfortunately, things didn't go his way for too much longer, and Zander could only watch in silent disgust as a girl tripped over him, then started shouting insults at him. Rolling his blue eyes, Zander stood to his full height and crossed his arms to glare properly at the newcomer. "It's not my fault you're an idiot," he replied dryly, a short moment passing before he snorted at her disheveled appearance and attitude. "There are two other people standing here who were obviously speaking to me. There's no way in hell you didn't see me unless you're blind or dumb. Stop yelling at me to cover up your embarrassment for tripping. It's annoying. So shut the hell up, will you?" With that, Zander rolled his eyes and turned his back to this prissy princess whom he already wanted to strangle.

Other people filed in eventually. A loud male had come behind Serena to hug her, and Zander's lip curled up in distaste at the sight. He didn't understand how opposite sex couples could happen. Why would you try to fraternize with someone who didn't have even the slightest bit similar anatomy from you? That was gross. It made Zander want to barf, so he averted his eyes from the two and placed his hands behind his head. The next person to enter the room was a tall guy with an eyepatch. What? Was this guy some sort of space pirate or something? Who the hell wore eyepatches anymore? Rolling his eyes, Zander pulled down his goggles and pressed a small undetectable button on the side to power up his interface.

Now when he scanned the room, he could read the stats of every person in the room. He was soon aware of each of their names, ages, and races. He was even able to detect if any of them had any sort of powers, which they all did. 'So we're being gathered up like animals, huh?' Zander though to himself, narrowing his now hidden eyes behind his goggles as another male entered the room. Man. Just how many sorry losers was this place rounding up, anyway? And were these idiots going here by choice, or was it prompted suggestions like him? The whole situation was giving him the creeps, and as Zander flicked off his goggles and pushed them back up on his head, his face settled in to an even deeper grimace. This was just great. Trapped in some sick military schooling system full of kids with weird a** powers against his will. This sucked.

He was glad to have located some company, despite the other boy’s impassive monotone. Despite the response that Arc had just received, the blue-eyed words were welcoming and cheerful – was he being sarcastic? The use of the word ‘dandy’ certainly made it seem like that was the case, yet Zander quickly introduced himself and accepted his gesture. “Nice to meet you, Zazza.” He tilted his head at the next statement, glancing down at the wristband he had acquired from the apathetic desk-droid a moment ago. The mark that the other male seemed to be referring to looked like the outline of a triangle, and he inquisitively glanced across at the raven-haired boy’s arm, realising that they did in fact share the same signet. “Ah, beaut! That was easy, wasn’t it?” He chuckled. “You too, mate. While we’re waitin’, you wouldn’t happen to know what happens after this, right? I wouldn’t imagine they’d have us doin’ hard yakka on the first day, but to be honest I don’t know what to expect.” He paused at his acquaintance’s accurate observation, impressed by the deduction, and shrugged off his surprise with a good-hearted grin. “S’was that obvious, huh? Yeah, I ain’t ever been to a city, not even a small one. Born and raised way out in woop-woop. S’called Cobbora, but you probably ‘aven’t heard of it, amirite? You from Su’idem?”

Arc considered describing what little of the mining town there was to speak of, but the presence of a young woman stopped him in his tracks. She had intervened into their discussion, but Scifer had not registered it as rude intrusion; on the contrary it seemed like a fairly acceptable decision on her part in an environment like this one. He tried not to flinch at Zander’s immediate bitterness, surprised by his abrupt change in character. Rather than bring it up though, he acknowledged the fair-haired girl in front of them. “Ha, definitely! They could use a few seats ‘round here. Maybe some welcome mats and some pot-plants.” He laughed at the thought of the cold machines nearby sitting in such a warm setting. ‘Ah, when’d this guy get so grumpy?’ he wondered to himself as Zander went on the defensive, doing a pretty good job of severing chatter altogether. He went out of his way to revive it. “Well, even if we’re on sep’rate teams, I’m sure we’ll still get to train with each other and what-not. We won’t get very far if we’re just learning from the extended fam’ of The Three Stooges over there.” He gestured to the droids. “Ah – before I forget, name’s Arc. As Zazza here already said,” the blonde corrected himself with a slight blush.

As he was focusing on how to make amends for his team-mate’s brutal mood swing, he failed to note a long-haired girl wandering towards them and promptly stumbling over Zander. She recovered with impressive speed and grace, and for the briefest moment Arc hoped that she would introduce herself as a member of Delta. Any team would benefit immensely from reflexes like those. But then she wheeled around and opened her mouth – ah. No one was perfect, and Arc was of course no exception. Still, her matter of handling the accident suggested she was going to be quite the handful. As expected of the equally-feisty brunette on the floor, he returned the insults full bore. ‘S’goin’ to be a long day, ain’t it? … I didn’t even pack any lunch,’ he recalled with a small frown as he watched the exchange with fraying patience. After a moment, he stepped forward. “Hey, hey. It was just an accident, guys. No one’s hurt, right? So it ain't worth bickerin' over. An argument is the last thing anyone needs right now.”

Definitely a long day. At least he had managed to find one other team member however, and that the young man seemed impartial to him, despite apparently having a vendetta against everyone else. He observed as more individuals strolled into the hall; one of them had been yelling rather awkwardly towards one of the androids. His unique phrasing had earned a few snickers from Arc, who tried not to blush as the red-head embraced the girl with them. “Oi,” he laughed, rolling his eyes. “Please tell me you actually know this sheila, Bluey.” Another group was congregating nearby as well; two long-haired men and a timid-looking girl. Shortly afterwards, another lady joined them, hounded by a large animal. “Crikey, take a look at that,” he murmured. “I ain’t ever seen something like that before; what a beauty.” He hadn’t been aware pets were allowed on campus. “Think I can get a pet, too? What about a cat?” he asked suddenly, glancing at the others. He had always wanted one, but his father had been against the decision due to the wildlife in their area, namely the snakes. “Maybe a lil’ one. Hmm; are there even little cat breeds?” Since having acknowledged that he had no food to nibble on, and the fact he had been waiting for what felt like some time now, made him restless and overly talkative. “Let's hope the wait ain't much longer. S’pose we’d get in trouble if we took a gander around this place, hey?” He sighed and glanced towards the huggable stranger. “Delta?” he asked, showing his band.

❝ Dreaming is the most important meal of the day ❞

indentAries didn't have much to pack. She wasn't one to keep very many outfits and belongings. All she needed was love, compassion and Sakutaro. She did, however, pack one bag of her toiletries, five different outfits, and snacks. She wandered around the constellation, restless. It was odd for her to feel as such, because she always restful. She pursed her lips and paced the stars, squeezing Sakutaro a little more each time she made a lap. Finally, he hopped out of her arms and communicated that he no longer was going to be held if she was going to act as such. She leaned down, " Gomen ne " she apologized in Japanese for her actions. Being a bookworm, she knew many languages. She was only practicing for her upcoming year in Xedeus Academy.

Finally, the man she had been waiting for showed up. The Sandman, otherwise known as her father. She ran up, giving the man made of Sand and tears a big hug. She put on her best pouty face " I had been waiting! " Her English was perfect, her accent was poor. The man put her down slowly and apologized. They exchanged good-byes before she fluttered all the way down to Earth II. Her wings were awfully tired from the trip down from the constellation of Aries.

Aries had flitted down all the way to the steps of the Academy. An android lead her inside and she only had raised an eyebrow at Sakutaro, who was sleeping per usual. Her bunny plushie companion wasn't known to be awake often, being a gift from the Sandman himself, who was often asleep as well. She decided to follow the small robot into a room where she would receive all the materials needed for the Academy. A band with the letter γ on it. That meant Gamma. She also received a card and a guidebook. She stared at the guidebook. Oh, how she loved reading. It only took her a whole of five minutes to read it. Now she was fully prepared.

She walked towards the orientation room and realized many people were standing in the foyer. There was an android that told her "Sorry, reception is closed for the morning. If you are a beginning Xedeus student, you must wait here until further notice. Thank you for your patience." Aries blinked a few times and shrugged. She made a 180 degree turn and took in the sight of people. One sitting on the floor, another yelling at him. The rest were conversing. Then she noted one sitting in a corner, alone. She scanned the room for anyone else that might be interacting with her. She was nervous as hell and didn't exactly want to interact with anybody, but it was worth a shot. She hugged Sakutaro tightly, and then walked over to the corner, standing next to her and her guardian. She looked the guardian up and down. Finally, someone that was kind of like her in the fact that she also had a guardian. She had been lucky that Sakutaro was a plushie more than a pet, or she would have been yelled at, she was sure.

Aries took a deep breath, and then finally spoke: " What a nice guardian you have... " She looked at the guardian again, noting his beautiful feathers and colors. She held up Sakutaro a little bit. " Sakutaro is my guardian. He's a plushie. I'm a plushie charmer. " Then she realized she hadn't even said her name yet. She closed her eyes fiercely, and then stuck out her tongue, hitting her own head. " Uwaahh~ Sorry! My name is Aries. " Aries wasn't used to conversation with anyone but herself, Sakutaro and the Sandman. This was going to be an interesting ride, yes it was. She took note of the small band that had been given to her that had her symbol on it. She had put it on her wrist. She looked for a band similar to her's, but could not see one. " What team are you on? "

Aries was a curious one, that was for sure. She had hardly given the girl space to answer her questions before Aries bombarded the poor girl. While she was as bookworm and knew a lot, she was not the best with common sense and street smarts, nor was she good with people. That's probably why she was best left to intel than anything else.

Orientation was just about to start. Students gathered and milled about.. Suspecting the bands true meaning and wandering what was to happen next. Perhaps their first impressions weren't all that spectacular; their foyer free of any intruders or staff. They were ordered to steer clear of the reception at all costs, and the droids were temporarily programmed on repeat. It was all planned by the Director's self. But was the Director really going to show up that morning? The Director, whom was very mysterious figure that's never shown face for the media, was he going to reveal his or her identity to these future combatants? Perhaps...

                                                                        Or Perhaps not.

Above all of their heads lay a balcony overseeing the foyer, and upon this balcony, facing directly at them all was none other than Sjola Em'Talua, Assistant Director. Where the Director was absent in detail, Sjola took most of the media hit and had no qualms in receiving public scrutiny. If anyone was up-to-date generally, they'd at least know Sjola was not at all human. Well, let's be honest, even on first glimpse should anyone gather that she was not at all human. Her pale inky skin, her unusual layering and stranger yellow markings that had a peculiar soft glow. And then there were her eyes... Her eyes that mimicked the hue of her odd markings, but even brighter. Parravatti's were known for their glowing eyes and their tradition of painting their 'lips' the same shade. It's what made them striking and hold people's attention. That and their empowering glare. Fun fact, Sjola was also the first other-race to gain a Director title within the Xedues Academy..

"Welcome," Sjola announced clear and precise, but with a boom in her voice that held powerful authority. "I am thankful for you all to attend todays session... An introduction of sorts... In your starter pack we've given you papers to fill and papers to read. Papers to fill will of course be your understanding of health and safety within our lodgings, and the papers to read will be none other than the Codes of Conduct that must be adhered to at all times, and of course your schedule. Don't take any lightly..." Sjola watched their faces without so much as a blink. "You may have also noticed the unfamiliar metallic band in your starting pack, and it's inscription of three different symbols. Some may already know that these characters are in fact Old Earth's "Greek" letters... Beta, Gamma and Delta... These are the names of this years selected squadrons. As we do every single year, we've carefully selected you into teams of five.. And each five are valuable part to their crew. You'll learn this throughout your student years here, and still after graduation. Our forces have been unbreakable because of our strong bonds and unity. Fail to reach a stable relationship, then expect to fail many other obstacles both in our institute.. and in battle." She let a long pause linger, the weight of the sentence sinking in... Death, even back during Old Earth, was somewhat taboo, but it should not be forgotten as a consequence in this line of work. "Now, of course, comes the ultimate question: who are a part of my team? But.. I've got an even better question for you all...."

                                                                        BOOM.

                                                                        CLACK.

It was all happening so fast. One minute all eyes were on Sjola, next the whole foyer went black.. But just as soon as the bright white lights shut off, red ones turned on, illuminating the room in a harsh alarming glow. Loud sounds of metal on metal could be heard as thick walls created from tough alien-subtsances came crashing down over each and every wall. It was as if they were all lured into one gigantic trap... With predators inside; the droids hoisted themselves up and mechanically formed themselves so they were back to back. The point of this? They suddenly transformed in unison.. Into one. Great. Big. Monster.. BUT that wasn't the worst of it... For one, this huge monster was starting to produce millions of tiny droid spiders with legs able to cut through the hardest steel. Second, you remember these new walls that just forced its way down like a cage? Yeah, they're hella significant. The alien technology used actually dispelled any unusual waves and vibrations emitting from all organic life-forms within the encased room. This means no passive powers. Yes, these students whom have most likely had little to no memory of what it's like without their constant abilities will now have to adjust. And adjust quickly. Sink or swim.

Sjola cracked a small, almost unnoticeable smirk.

"How well can you all work as one team? Hint; the mechanics are alien and not necessarily all metal. Hint number two; it may or may not have a weak-spot.. but who'll find it first?"
