Pearson got off the boat and stood there astounded for a moment. He was on the pier of one of the most bustling cities in the world. It was such a change from the small town he had been raised in. He walked up the pier and passed many shops along the way. It was so unusual to him. He finally reached downtown. It was even more lively and colourful than the pier. "Whoa!" he gasped taking everything in. Everywhere he looked there were people dancing, fiddlers playing music and shops set up everywhere. possible the most amazing thing of all was the massive fountain in the middle of the square. The water was so pure and the star shape of it was a really intricate design. He walked up to it and felt the cool marble of the fountains edge. "This place truly was carved by the god," he though aloud. He was turning around with his attention still on the fountain when he accidently bumped into a girl carrying a few books spilling them on the ground. "Oh!' he said as his face reddened. "I'm so sorry. Here, let me help," he said getting down and picking up some books.

Personality: Somewhat cold to people. He doesn't like human interaction very much and tends to blend into the crowds. He is really level headed and would rather listen to people talking than partake in the conversation himself.
Appearance: He is kind of tall standing at 5'8". He usually wears a slim fitting black fleece jacket and black gloves to compensate for the cold climate of Alumnia. Biography: Cylus was born in a small ranch outside of the main city. His parents were both ranchers and they owned a lot of livestock. The family was really wealthy. Cylus lived in the comfort of the ranch up until he was ten. All was great until one winter a terrible blizzard came across the land engulfing all of the countryside. His dad had been out tending to the livestock. He assumed his dad would be safe within the barn. The next morning when the storm had subsided he ran outside excited to see his father. His excitement however quickly turned into dismay. All he saw was the wreckage of the barn. Tears welled up in his eyes as he ran over to see what happened. He dug through piles and piles of rubble trying to fin his father. He had no luck until the wind moved a snow drift revealing the corpse of his father. He choked up for a moment standing motionless staring at his father. Then he ran over and started yelling at him to get up. His face was so cold and blue that he eventually realized it was no use. And he hugged his father crying. he didn't notice but the snow falling began to move towards him and swirled around them, faster and faster. As the winds picked up Cylus lifted his head to see what was happening. The snow formed a sphere around his father and created an ice tomb for him. Cylus, mezmerized by what had just happened, reached out and touched the ice. It was cold. Unnaturally so. And he knew this tomb would last. He said his final goodbyes and walked back to the house.

The next six years were horrible. His mother had entered a depression and was rarely, if ever, awake. All the kids at his academy had heard about the ice and stayed away from him. Some even making violent threats and slurred jokes at him. Needless to say, he had no friends. But little did he know that the wizard academy had been keeping an eye on him. When he went home that night, he heard a knock and when he went to answer, he was shocked to see the Arch Mage. He seemed to radiate energy. He told him that he would love for Cylus to join his academy. His mother heard the news and collapsed from grief of having her last family member taken from her. He had no family left here. What choice did he have? He accepted and was told that the new year started in a month. He would have time to mourn for his mother.

Emilia stuffed the book into her bag and stepped out into the cold streets of Alumnia. She shivered as the warmth of the building left her body. The 16 year old walked down the cobblestone not in direction of her house, where she would usually go after sneaking off to the library, but in the direction of the Academy (or at least where it was said to be). She wanted to see this place for herself.

Cylus was walking away from the academy, down the path that was magically hidden by a wall illusion. The school seems alright I guess. Certainly a lot better than the Alumnia Academy. he thought to himself as he continued walking down the ethereal path with his hands in his pockets. He came up to where the wall was. It was sort of like a one way window. He could see out but nobody was able to see him. He was shocked to see a girl who seemed to be searching for a door on the wall. If she can't see the door she must not have been invited. What is she doing here? he thought slightly irritated. He reached his hand through the entrance and grabbed her arm as he walked out. "What are you doing here?" he asked in a cold voice.

Emilia looked at this boy who randomly appeared out of nowhere. Emilia's face turned a bright scarlet. "Uh, I'm looking for the Academy." She continued sheepishly "Are you a student there? I mean, you just appeared out of nowhere. Was that a spell?"

Cylus frowned and let the girls arm go. "And why would you want to know about magic? Not just anybody can learn how to use it you know. You have to have a special..." he paused snapping his fingers as cold air started emanating from his hand freezing the air around it momentarily before returning back to normal. "Talent," he finished. To be truthful he didn't really care that she was poking around. He just hated it when people without the gift of magic pretended to know anything about it. "Those books at the library," he said analyzing her with his stormy eyes,"Are full of lies. You may want to reconsider you're source," he said folding his arms.

"Well, I've tried little things in my bedroom before. I've only succeeded once. I got water from the air to condense and turn into liquid." She says matter-of-factly. "That has to be something. I mean anything?"
