Sayer made his way through the forest, admiring the aspects of nature as he walked past them. Whatever divine being made this world, they sure as hell knew what they were doing. Even where he was in this forest, the path he was currently on didn't seem beaten or man-made at all. It seemed naturally made, at least to him. Other people would disagree, but hey, they had the right. But anyway, the path was nice and clear, almost outlined in a certain way, he could swear. Point was, nature seemed to have a good head on it's shoulders in this place.
He kept going, a little faster paced now; he did have somewhere to be, after all. Ugh. He desperately needed a faster way to travel. He came upon a calm, still lake and before he could so much as kneel down and gaze at his own reflection, he was stopped by what he saw. The roaring falls were not distracting him from this sight in the slightest. It was too incredible, too strange.
There was some kind of pillar of earth shooting straight out of the water, and atop it, a crystal. It reminded him of an offering on an alter. Sayer found himself incredibly curious about the crystal, and acted upon the impulse to go look almost immediately. More pillars of earth shot from underneath the water, forming a safe, level walkway to his destination. He knew it was okay to cross it, but he took his time anyway.
He reached it in less than five minutes, and now that he had a better view, he could see something inside. A person. A girl. Was she okay? Sayer didn't know what to think. It looked like the girl was sleeping or something, from what he could see. Hesitantly, he touched the crystal's surface with his fingertips, surprised to find that it was cold. But there was a person in it! How could she survive in there?
Faster than one could blink, he had made up his mind to get the person out. He drew back his right arm, turning it into his bear claw in the process. His nails became much more sharp and claw-like, and brown fur covered his arm, including his sleeve. He thrust his arm forward as hard as he could, only for his claw to reflect off the shining surface. He did manage to chip off the tiniest of pieces, though. The piece of the crystalline object shone in his hand.
Okay, he needed to re-think this. This thing was cold, so that meant....
