"Interesting." was all Arabela could mutter after hearing Geno's response to her question. He was a peculiar fellow, off, but indeed peculiar. She straightened out her skirt subconsciously while biting her bottom lip. People she had an encounter with usual grew bored of her company and left. Geno however was hyper and very passionate about teaching here, for his own personal gain. What felt like hours for her to respond she did so coordinately. However before she was able to respond, she noticed the students that surrounded both her and Genos were headed to the tower. "Ah. It seems our lessons will start soon, join me towards my classroom? On our walk I will explain then?" before Geno's could respond, she once again gripped her skirt and guided towards her class. Arabela knew her students were powerful, she felt them before she entered the courtyard. However being a psychokinetic it allowed her to be a lot more sensitive than the usual to understand the strength of their power.

And it heightened exponentially with her students excitement before the first lesson. Ara paused mid step and turned towards Genos. "We must hurry now." there she waited, how long? not even Ara could answer that.

Nadia's turned herself around, continuing to bask her senses in the wonder of Tartarus. The rest of her group begun making their way down the corridor now too. She listened into Natsumi's proposal. "Good idea, " She replied, turning towards the two paths ahead of her. She rested her chin on a hand and began to make her decision. Which path? Quickly realizing that she wouldn't get anywhere thinking this through, she turned to the eastward path. It was darker than the other path, and seemed to narrow again. Well, let's hope none of her group's members were claustrophobic.Spinning herself around, Nadia was now facing William, Audrey and Geiger who were still a short ways behind her. "We're going down this path!" she announced, then turned back around. Nadia proceeded with zeal in her step as she entered area 3, as it would be marked on a map.

Visibility began to fade as Nadia pushed onward and inward. When she nearly tripped over a rock, she decided to pause momentarily. She slowly shifted her gaze through her surroundings, her eyes slowly adjusting to the difference in lighting. From what she could see, the area would be wide and clear if it weren't for the sections where large rocks jutted out, connecting the roof of the cave with the ground. Aside from that, she would have to watch her footing. The ground rose and then dipped again in many areas. There were noticeably less deposits of colourful rocks as well, further dulling the atmosphere.

With somewhat of a better understanding of her surroundings now, she continued her movement. From her peripherals she saw a sudden jolt of movement in the dark. She turned her head and sighted a reptilian creature. The small, dark-scaled quadruped skittered across the cave wall, and disappeared into a crevice. With the insignificant glance she caught of it, it was hard to tell exactly what it was, but it reminded her of all of the otherworldly creatures supposedly within the cave. A wide, white grin quickly grew across her face due to the excitement.

Things were proceeding smoothly, and quickly. Group two was quick to follow behind group one, and now Hawk was only waiting for the third group to enter. Before the final four students entered, another person had arrived on scene. Hawk's attention immediately shifted to the dark-red haired woman, clad in a formal black and white suit. Hawk had been wondering when she would show up, actually. "Yo" he heard her greet him, to which he responded with a nod of his head. Looking at her, it was strange, really. A woman a full foot shorter than him commanded such a powerful presence. He listened to Dohna speak. She was at a meeting, called by the headmaster. "He called a meeting now of all times?" Hawk questioned in disbelief. Why would he do it now? He should have known he was supposed to be the one to be heading this whole operation, not Hawk. The headmaster was another of the few that Hawk actually believes to be an alright guy, but man can he be a pain sometimes. "Whatever, not a big deal." he added with a sigh of discontent. The medic turned his head to face the tower, then glanced at the group. That's right, he completely forgot to mention that the groups would have teachers leading them! Well, too late now. Besides, he wasn't even sure who was leading which team. Truly only the headmaster is to blame for this. "Were you assigned a group?" he asked, looking back at his ... friend? Equal? Superior? It was hard for him to designate a title to someone like Dohna. He respected her, but she was also a rank higher than him. Would he actually have to concede that he was someone's inferior here? That wasn't a thought he enjoyed surfacing in his mind.

It brought his smile down just a touch, down to a nervous grin, but his eyes showed nothing other than excitement tenfold that of his anxiousness. He shuttered slightly, but turned his attention back to the girl, who introduced herself as Nova. A strange name, David obviously thought, but in his opinion, most of the people here had strange names.

xxHis attention was again distracted by a small commotion off to the side of their group. One man with green hair and clad in a simple suit tossed another - one a tad taller but not by much, clad with wings and a strange arm cannon - into one of the other groups. David's mouth hung open in shock for a few moments before he corrected it, seeing the man come over. So then, we're group three, correct? The man had said smugly. Not the best of first impressions in David's opinion. Nova slapped the man on the shoulder disapprovingly - David honestly wanted to follow suit, but didn't want to be flung into orbit. David looked at the man to see a sinister grin that was quickly replaced with a friendly one, and the blond shook it off as his imagination. The green haired man introduced himself as Caligo - another strange name for David to jot down - in a very cheerful voice that was stark in contrast to his persona earlier. Again, David shrugged it off.

xxNova proceeded to call to a man who seemed to be following - or maybe lurking? - the group, and introduced the three to him. The man was strange, looking as if he would fall over and shrivel up if David said anything. Instead of shout a greeting, which is what the blond would usually do in such situations, he settled for a smile and a quaint wave of his hand. The man waddled forth, his gait awkward and hasted. Sure enough, he managed to fall flat on his face, and David had to bite his lip to avoid chuckling. The man introduced himself as Hemis, a bit less strange, but still strange enough to warrant a line in the Strange Names of Tartarus Academy by David Johnson. He chuckled slightly at the thought, then proceeded to answer Hemis' question of his place of origin. "I was born in New Joisey, but I mostly grew up in a lab." He said, intentionally making the latter part of New Jersey sound ridiculous.

xxAn odd thought flickered through David's mind - more of a joke than a constructive thought. What if the stranger the name, the stronger the power? I mean, I have a completely average name, so I have no powers. And Caligo is absolutely silly, but he can throw a man that far without breaking a sweat. With a strangely determined expression, David looked to the group and asked firmly: "What are your powers?" He might have sounded a bit more harsh than he meant to sound.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Caligo shows a flash of a slightly pained expression at the mention of David growing up in a lad. While Caligo had only spent a few years at DEM Laboratories, the horrors he saw were more than scarring. Years of memories flash through Caligo's mind, memories of loneliness, torture, experiments, and darkness... So much darkness. If only a few years twisted Caligo so much, he could only imagine what an early life was like for David. A strange emotion overcomes Caligo, one that he hasn't felt in a long time, and one he can't quite wrap his head around. Is it pity? No, that's not right... More like empathy. Oddly enough, Caligo senses some form of... bond with the boy, like a bond between soldiers. He doesn't trust this feeling, it feeling alien to him. Caligo tries to shake off the thought and answer David's question.

(Cue Caligo's theme)

"Well, that's an interesting question to ask. My powers are... Unique. I can't show you the full extent of my power, lest I waste good blood and bone, but I can give you a short demonstration." Says Caligo with a smile before stepping away from the group, getting down wind. After taking a deep breath, Caligo exhales a bellowing cloud of thick, pitch black fog that sinks down to the ground, making a soft hissing sound as it comes in contact with the ground. When the wind blows this fog away, it reveals a mark of death on the ground. In the center of the mark, lies nothing but burned earth, not a burn caused by heat, but like as if the ground had been slowly destroyed. Around this mark is a large ring of burned and dead grass. As the fog is blown away, it leaves a trail of death, killing any plant or insect life it touches before finally dispersing and is rendered harmless as it fades to nothing. "You asked of my power, and here is part of it, that was Caligo Erebea, or the Black Fog, as many call it." He says as he lowers his head, turning his back to the group. "Did you know? My name is actually Latin, for many different things. Caligo can mean mist, fog, darkness, vapor, gloom, distressful situation, and dark hour." He says before turning his head back to the group, a sinister grin on his face, Caligo Erebea bellowing from his mouth.

After a few moments, when he is sure he's sufficiently scared his group, his grin fades to a genuine smile and he begins to laugh loudly. "Juuuust kidding! Fooled y'all' He says with his bright smile, obviously screwing with his group.

Audrey was kind of a disappointed she never got answers to her multiple questions, but the whole going into Tartarus had kind of killed the conversation, and William didn't seem like he wanted to bring it back up. Well, he probably didn't know all of the things she asked anyways, since he mentioned not having a great understanding of it at her first question. She'd have to inquire more later, and maybe even help him study it.

Anyways, he was acting kind of oddly. Asking if it was her, and then saying he the cave looked impressive. "It's me. And um, what do you mean 'you bet'? Wait, are you blind?" Audrey resisted the urge to wave a hand in front of his face or move around to see if his eyes followed her. His eyes looked functional though. "Does it have anything to do with what turned you . . . all blue?" Er, maybe he didn't want to talk about it? "Er, s-sorry if you don't want me asking. Don't uh, feel pressured to answer, or anything."

When he mentioned the echoes, Audrey realized she hadn't noticed them at all. Probably because she relied on her eyes? Seemed to make sense. And she wasn't exactly the most observant of people when her mind was caught up in something else. "Echo!" She yelled, and listened to the sound it make. Uh, Audrey supposed that was unique.

Nova thought about what David said, "mostly in a lab.." What did that even mean? She didn't want to question it right now but made a note in her mind to bring it up later. "What are your powers?," David asked. Well to herself, her powers seem pretty simple. They weren't anything to fancy or complicated. Caligo took his mark away from them and blew a huge cloud of smog. Nova covered her mouth as to not inhale any. Even if she was far enough away. After the smog dissipated the sight of dead ground and grass was left. She let out a sad gasp and took a few steps to look closer at it. "That's terrible." She couldn't believe she had been grouped with a breathing death fog blower.
Nova stood up and took off her gloves. "These are my powers." She said deviously, holding her hand up to Caligo and drawing out a nice portion of his life energy she placed her other hand to the ground and transferred his life energy to the grass. Slowly the grass started to grow a little greener. It wasn't back to the way it was before but it was at a point where it would grow back just fine in a few weeks. Nova smiled at Caligo as she would be surprised if he was not the least bit exasperated. She took a lot out of him.
However she still had just enough to show off her other power. She walked back to the group and with every step she changed her appearance just slightly. Her brown hair turned black and curly, her brown eyes were a shiny blue and her lips were fuller. She stood there, "What do you think?" She grinned sheepishly while doing a little twirl. After a minute or so she shifted back to normal. "My changes only last so long depending on how much 'life energy' I have consumed and stored away." Nova put her gloves on and fixed her hair into a ponytail. It was a little hot out and she could not stand being warm for too long. "What is your power David?" She asked in a semi-excited tone.

As the others were demonstrating their abilities in response to David's question, Hemis had clapped excitedly in a childish fashion that occurred when he had witnessed something very fascinating; well... more fascinating relative to his usual awe and interest in most things many would deem trivial and not worth a second glance. Caligo, who was the young man with the green hair, demonstrated his ability in producing and manipulating a black fog that then caused whatever it touched to rapidly decompose before he finally made it fade away; he then described the various definitions of his name, which made Hemis somewhat nervous until Caligo had guffawed and said it was a joke.

The puffy-haired weirdo found Nova's powers to be just as interesting, as she soon took her gloves off to touch Caligo and then touch the ground that had been blighted by his fog. Gradually sprouting up from out of the ground as a result of the young girl's touch was new vegetation, supposedly giving new life to an area that had been dead just a few moments ago; what happened next caused another round of cheerful clapping from Hemis, as Nova also displayed her ability to slightly alter her physical features, the childlike person nodded as he kept in mind her transformation's limited duration.

Believing that it was his turn, Hemis took in a deep breath while he focused his will and belief as he prepared to demonstrate his own powers. Exhaling, the odd youth began ejecting a dense shimmering vapor that had a golden coloration about it, having the Material Fog cover his body from the neck down as well as expand by 3 meters in all directions; exerting his mind onto the fog, the fog began to make coordinated movements as the strange little person simply blinked his left eye. It was then that he altered the composition of some part of his fog into a thick but slippery gel-like substance while other parts of the fog took on more fluid like qualities; to make one last demonstration, Hemis gathered all of his Material fog and alter its whole composition as a mostly solid golden mass, appearing like some child that had strange tentacles covering his body before finally making his own fog fade away.

It made him cringe and cough as he swore a bit of the foul smelling rot had gotten into his lungs. Something about Caligo irked the blond male, whether it was his shifty attitude, his eerie and destructive power, or maybe both. Another thought occurred to David - Maybe Caligo has multiple personalities? David shook that thought off for the most part, but it lingered slightly in the side of his mind. Caligo claimed his maliciousness was a joke, but David wasn't so sure anymore. He gave the taller green haired man a curious look before directing his gaze towards Nova, who bore a similar expression as himself.

xxThe brown haired girl muttered some dissatisfied words under her breath, but her display of power followed suit, which caused David to perk up a bit. The ground beneath Caligo's feet began to glow softly for but a few moments before the glow faded, followed by the soft lime-green buds of vegetation began forming. The insect carcasses did not come back, however, but their bodies would be fertilizer for the plants they lay next to. He was distracted enough not to notice Nova's physical change until she asked what they thought. David looked up to see a completely different woman - albeit the same voice as Nova - though the girl quickly reverted to a more familiar shape. David's mouth hung agape in wonder for a moment before looking towards the dark haired man with the monocle, who clapped fervently before deciding it was his turn.

xxThe initial part of his power worried David - more fog, similar to Caligo's destructive mist - but the blond slowly relaxed as he saw the color was a more calming golden hue. It did not decay all around it, and it seemed to stick to Hemis more than it went off of him. It shifted and molded seemingly randomly, and it looked as if the fog could become any state of matter. It was enthralling and awesome. He looked at his three allies and bashfully looked towards the ground, sheepishly grinning as he delayed Nova's inquiry as to his own power. Stuttering slightly in embarrassment, he answered. "Ah...I actually...u-um...Don't have any."

xxHoping that they didn't hear, or perhaps just continuing to push his inadequacy out of his own mind, he blurted out his opinions of the powers,of the others here in an attempt to drop the subject of his own lack of powers. "Your power was great, Nova! Being able to revive things and stuff must be handy. And Caligo...I'll have to keep a few paces away from you when you do things! Hemis, your abilities were cool, too! Can you make anything out of that golden goo stuff?" At least I'll be safe in the tower with these guys... He followed with a thought, faking a cheerful smile with a more worried one.

The From within the subtly shifting pool of water were mostly what you would expect: Fish, vibrantly coloured scales shimmering as they swam; foliage, green and blue-hued plants swayed gently at the bed of the lake; more mineral and gemstone deposits jutted from the lake bed. However, in the middle of all of this, a large lump sat in the middle of the lake bed. Covered by sediment and algae, it wasn't clear what it was, though the subtle rise and fall ensured that it must be alive.

An echo brought on by a distant voice, though attenuating faster through the water, resulted in the lump to twitch. Soon enough, more echoes rung through, and the lump realized it was time. It escalated slowly at first. As it rose, sand and rock shifted off, and its features became recognizable. Smooth, hard, blue-green scales coated an off-white reptilian flesh. From either side of the serpentine creature's body appeared short, clawed limbs. With the surfacing of its final body-part - its tail - rose from the ground, the creature accelerated its ascent. Tucking its limbs close to its body, the serpentine beast propelled itself upwards.

With a bellow mighty enough to generate a burst of wind, the creature breached the water's surface. The mighty leviathan stood many times larger than anything else in the cavern. From nose to tail, it would be at least several dozen feet long. A fierce, crocodile-like visage slowly shifted from side to side, taking in its surroundings. Its eyes appeared as small slits, barely open, one on each side of its head. Above its eyes sprouted two hollow, blunt, black horns. It wasn't through its eyes that it sensed its surroundings, but through the horns. The sensitive horns detect echoes in the vicinity, giving the leviathan its spacial awareness.

It heard every footstep, every word, every heartbeat in the cave. It knew people were approaching its position, and it knew just how many there were. Finally, it would feed. Another bellow, stronger than the last, fires a strong squall throughout the cave-system.

Anyways, during specific moments I'm going to be doing these little "plot posts". Probably going to be mostly used for foreshadowing. ))

I am a master of the forge, commander of fire and steel!

I am here: Tartarus
I am with: Will
On my mind: I'm the tower, but things turned into a normal conversation? Hmmmm

Well, the whole "you're blind?" thing wasn't really what she was apologizing about, but as long as he was cool and not offended with anything she'd said, then Audrey had no complaints. She figured he might have been a little more sensitive about the event that took away his sight, but yeah, apparently not. In fact, he even gave a few more details on it. Something about a spell. Though, had he already mentioned that? Audrey's attention had jumped around a lot during that first exchange. "Well uh, if you need help with any uhh, seeing person stuff, feel free to reach out to your roommate." Er, would that come off as kind of offensive? She hoped she wasn't implying he couldn't do stuff on his own. She had no idea if there was some code about what was okay to say to people with physical disabilities, so she hoped Will would just chalk whatever stupid things Audrey said now and later up to her trying to be helpful.

When he made the joke, Audrey was still a little too worried to find it actually funny, though him joking about it did ease her mind a bit. She made the effort the smile at the joke. But then realized he couldn't see it. s**t. She made a really light laugh sound, hoping it didn't sound really fake. It probably did, but whatever. When he asked some questions about her, she thought for a moment and responded, "I have the normal number of limbs, none added and none missing. As for crippling mental disorders, I do get distracted really easily by some things. Sorta crippled my social life, I guess." She gave a small laugh at the untrue joke. It was causing her very few problems right now, and hadn't had an opportunity to cause her any in her rather lonely childhood.

*~~~Nova Jenivive La'Rowe~~~*

After Hemis displayed his power she nodded her head. She felt his power was far more respectable than Caligo's even though they were both based around foggy masses. She loved the color it was more calming than the black smog that Caligo let out of his mouth. She was sure his breath smelled fowl after letting all that out. Her mind was still trying to wrap around that fact that she was the only girl in a group of boys. It wasn't fair... But it wasn't like the girls here were friendly anyway.
David announced he didn't have any powers she looked at him sideways. "What do you mean?" She rubbed her shoulder and looked down in thought. "Didn't you have to have powers to go to this school?" Nova made eye contact with David again. However she was still in thought. "So not only am I in a group of all males, one of them DOESN'T even have powers.. What am I supposed to do with these these three? What was David good for if he didn't have powers.?" Nova snapped back into reality.
She focused her attention on to understanding what David could do, "What are you good at then if you don't have powers? Strategy? Facts? Huh?" She wasn't trying to be mean. Just everyone she had meet her so far has had powers. She patted David on the shoulder, "Well no matter. I'll be here if you need me. I'm sure you won't have any problems with people. But if you do... I'll step in for you." She smiled big. Her confidence started to fade. She started to fear that she was doing to much or would come off as a show off or coincided.
For the fact that she has already made a bad name with three people at the school and it was only her first day. She was trying to stay friendly and neutral. Nova face palmed herself somewhat gently and shook her head at herself.

David, the Oblivious Shadow

David realized with a start that Natsumi and he had been joined by their remaining two teammates. He recognized the blonde girl as the one he's labeled 'Rapunzel' previously. "Oh hello there, Rapunzel and..." he paused for a second, looking at Lotus, "Titiana."

He slowly closed his book and turned his attention back to the diverging paths before them. He could see the last members of Group 2 disappear down the smaller path. "I suppose Steadfast is right...sharing our talents would be a good idea before we wander into the dark tunnels."

He took a step towards the path called, unknown to him, Area 2, peering past the rows of stalagmites near the tunnel opening.

"Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch'entrate. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."

Genos Kriv

After parting with Professor Devereaux Genos made his way to the classroom where he would be teaching. The room was rather large with the front part resembling a small lecture hall with the back evening out into a lab space with four sturdy counters along with pantry space. When Genos explored the room he found a manilla envelope and a letter envelope on his desk. He opened up the letter first and read that he would be assigned a team of students to look over with the names of each student with their profiles in the manilla envelope. He recognized David immediately as the one who ran into a tree and Jaylynn as one of the students who came over to help. Genos found that Natsumi would be an interesting case to deal with and that Lotus would probably be his most problematic student with her seemingly split personality. He sat down and pondered his new role as teacher and babysitter.
