Angelo sat in the passenger seat of one of his mother's friend's car, steadying a small rose bush at his feet and holding a petstore bag with a small fish inside. The friend, an elf named Orin, had bought the fish for them on their way back to the school from the airport. He had wanted to make a quick stop at the store, and Angelo of course had to go inside with him. He'd wandered towards the fish section and immediately fell in love with the pictus catfish. It was so adorable to him, and Orin decided to buy Angelo the fish along with all the needed supplies. Angelo was feeling quite happy for once, staring happily at the little fish in its bag. He figured he was acting childish, but it was only Orin there to see him, so it didn't really matter that much.
Once they got to the actual school, however, he put on a poker face. He gently laid the fish bag down on the passenger seat as he got out of the car, picked up his rosebush, and placed the fish bag carefully down inside the pot. Orin went towards the back and grabbed the small supplies like fish food and put them inside the pot as well, and put Angelo's duffle bag of clothes over his shoulder, before grabbing the actual tank. The two spent a short amount of time in the front office making sure having the fish was okay, and where his new dorm room was. "They moved me into the coed dorm this year. I wonder if I'll get a cute girl as my roommate." He said to Orin. The elf said nothing, but gave Angelo a small smirk that he returned with a cheeky grin.
Angelo managed to open the door to his room without dropping everything in his arms, and carefully set the rose bush on the ground. As it was tied to his life force, he really didn't want to hurt it. He then helped set up the tank and fill it with water from the bathroom in his dorm. He carefully, ever so carefully, lowered the fish's bag into the water, making sure not to open it yet. Orin said that the fish needed to get used to the temperature of the water in the tank first, because it was different from the temperature in the bag. Although Angelo loved fish, he'd never had one of his own before, so he took Orin's word on it. The man knew a lot about animals though, so Angelo had no doubt in his mind that he was right.
"Alright kid, this is where I leave you. Have fun at school this year. Text or call if you need anything, like more fish food." The elf said with a huge smile, slapping Angelo on the shoulder. "Thanks man, will do. Have fun doing whatever it is you do when you're not baby sitting me." Angelo said with a smile back. The elf saw himself out, and Angelo flung himself onto the bed he now claimed as his. He rather liked Orin, but he had a suspicion his mom asked Orin specifically to watch over Angelo so that he'd have some kind of positive male figure in his life. Because his actual father was anything but positive. Which was alright, he guessed. The elf put up with his idiocy and had deep pockets and was willing to buy him pretty much anything, like a singular fish to go into a huge aquarium. He was going to have to find a way to pay Orin back for all his kindness. And get more fish.
Angelo sat up from his bed and began to wander the room. He was pleased to see that the belongings he'd had in his other room had been moved to this one as well. He unpacked the duffle bag and began to unpack all his clothes and put them into his dresser. Once he was satisfied that everything was put away neatly and perfectly, he laid down on his bed and pulled out a book, waiting for his new roommate to arrive so he could introduce himself.
