~* Have I not been too long in the shadows of invention and creation? As I rightfully behold the flesh, fear of the concious mind will have me facing the way...
All was still within the depths of that forest, which was often occupied by the usual chirps and wild calls of it's various inhabitants...yet through that seemingly endless ocean of trees, many would find that now it would play host to the loneliest of silence...the vast majority of this gargantuan plain -- vacant of all life..leaving almost nothing to be heard.
The air would lie heavy with an ominous feeling of impending doom, the very fabric of reality intense with an almost miasma like substance permeating the atmosphere...however, in the midst of it all, a chilling whisper of wind would saunter forward, binding itself around the broadened horizon of trees as it came to pass...nothing more than a haunting call from the remnants of the guardians who had lost their lives so long ago; the restless nature of these spirits was stirring, as though enticed by the presence of another...and the trees would shiver as though in fear of what was to come...because now, within the shadows, cast down by the silhouette of dying leaves bathed within the pale moonlght...there could vaguely be seen the reason for it all.
A blur of darkness raging forward, the entrails of the wind tearing through the leaves with a shrieking howl as they followed behind the source of this disturbance...such a powerful movement could not easily be seen by the naked eye, nor the most trained of them as this mysterious creature went hurtling from tree to tree.
This man was a professional, it could easily be told by the speed and dexterity of his pace...it was simply fact that even most elite would be trembling in fear in the mere presence of the one before them...that was, if they had the expertise to detect such graceful precision in his stepping.
Within an instant, this nameless visage would hault his movement...now perched atop the branch of a tall and proud oak, at the highest point in the land as he peered outward from beneath the depths of his torn hood with narrowed golden eyes...and there he would stand, simply watching...waiting...
There it is...
Silver gates would occupy his vision, as well as the ones who stood before them in wait, the guardians of Starbright Academy would stand ever vigilant, in search of those with ill intentions who dared to approach the estate...and yet, through the nobility of their intentions they had failed to catch sight of the newcomer as he studied them from the veil of mist and darkness.
But who exactly was this man? What was his purpose? For the moment these question would remain unanswered...until finally, he would descend upon the land, robes flailing magnificently as he touched down upon the barren road that lead into the estate, and a gentle wind would sweep the land, turning over a flurry of dust that carried itself upon the stone steps of a path that this man now walked.
How long has it been, since I've laid eyes upon these gates?...
More importantly, how long had it been since he had slept in a 'proper' bed, taken a 'proper' bath, ate a 'proper' meal...doubtless that it was nowhere near as long as it had been since he had lived a 'proper' life. The silhouette of his dark visage would emerge from the very depths of that misty curtain, those glistening yellow eyes piercing the fog, unblinking and unwavering as they met with their target...but what business did this eerie figure have at the academy?
The man continued onward, the sheath of his Tachi blade wavering gently with every step he would take, and his pace quickened ever so slightly as he approached, for it would not be much longer until he was allowed a chance to rest -- of this he was certain.
As he neared his destination, an upbringing of wind would whistle around him, strands of his long, blackened hair parting slightly to reveal a mere glimpse of his dark features...his piercing gaze alone was rather unnerving, which was most probably another reason why so many had difficulty approaching him.
Yet the guards simply watched as the man appeared before them. Naturally not just anyone would be able to walk upon the academy and therefore the two would lock their spears together, blocking entrance to the courtyard.
"Good evening..." his deep vocals would resound as he now stood before the campus' guards, and they would suddenly avert their attention towards the sound of his voice.
"Do you have an appointment with the headmaster?" the one on the left would reply, the tension in his features was a sign that he was prepared to strike at any given moment; his eyes would briefly wander the entirety of the intruders concealed figure, silently taking note of his weapon.
And the man would listen intently as the first began to speak; a typical reply...one he himself had expected. Anyone with half a brain would have had their suspicions of this conspicuous visage...and it was their duty to protect the estate from all who did not belong within.
However...as the man raised his hands to the brim of his hood, it would gently fall upon his shoulders, leaving a flurry of those blackened strands to dance upon the passing wind, and one look at the two before him would be his only reply as his arms fell limply at his side.
"L-Lord Emenefus!..." The both of them would breathe, their eyes betraying an awe inspired ferocity as they immediately retracted their weaponry...and the one on the right would begin to speak now "M-my apologies for this unsightly display" he stuttered, lowering his head out of what could only be embarassment "I shall immediately inform the headmaster of your return"
But the one called Emenefus would simply raise his hand to still the guardians' voice, his very presence commanding the utmost of respect "That will not be necessary, I have already given word of my arrival; it is best if you remain here and keep watch as your duty implies..." Putting this aside, the headmaster was a very important person, so it was not uncommon for someone of their stature to be busy with his work...interrupting him now for something so trivial would be unprofessional upon his behalf.
"Y-yes, of course sir...if there is anything further please inform us immediately...and also..." the two of them would bow "...we are happy to have you back, Lord Emenefus"
Emenefus would cross an arm over his chest, lowering his head in return for their humble greeting; of one thing he was certain, the feeling was very mutual.
"I will take my leave then"
And with this, the man in black would continue into the estate...
Emenefus had finally returned
