The year is 2040.
In the world that we live in now, there really isn't much that surprises
the general public these days. Our technology so advanced that the
human element is hardly necessary and the desire for an individual to
push his or her intelligence past the breaking point for self-achievement
has dwindled. Inventors are simply building upon previous enlightened
minds' design. We have created machines that can perform amazing
feats of super-strength at the push of a button and computers that do
all of our thinking for us. However, with this technology comes a grave
price not noticed by most people. Pollution caused by our very own
innovative technology has endangered the delicate balance that is our
ecosystem. Our water, the air we breathe, and even the animals and
trees have become infected with this dangerous enemy that is pollution.
Some of our children, the ones who were born at the beginning of this
scientific revolution, became mutated because of this, their DNA strands
ripped apart and put back together, all jumbled up and misaligned.
This caused amazing abilities to suddenly emerge. Newborn children
were able to spontaneously combust, communicate with animals, lift
things weighing hundreds of thousands of pounds. Those without these
special talents became horribly frightened. What if one of these monsters
were to suddenly decide to steal money from a bank? No one would be
able to stop them. Or an even scarier thought, what if their own children
turned out this way? Ignorance ran rampant through the public, and most
of these freaks of nature were exiled, never to return to the places they
once cherished as their homes.
A man, one who had powerful geokinetic abilities, decided that enough
was enough, and a century ago founded Mythica Boarding School,
which was meant to be a safe haven for young mutants in need. The
school acted as a barrier to not only keep undesirables out, but to keep
the powerful and still-developing mutants contained. Most of the children
quickly adapted to their new lives at Mythica and once news of it spread
along the mutant underground, children of all ages swarmed to the school.
Those without abilities did nothing to stop them, nor did they search for
the school. Their fear kept them from ever becoming involved.
A group of radical mutants soon formed, naming themselves The Dusk.
They not only hated themselves for having these freakish powers, but
hated those who wished to nurture them. Shortly after the school first
opened, they disguised themselves as eager students and infiltrated
the building, attempting to bring it to its knees. The old leader and most
prominent member of The Dusk had come up with a nefarious plot to
take down the school. Fortunately, their plans had quickly been foiled
by a group of guardian students chosen specially by the headmaster,
aptly named The Dawn. They acted in opposition to The Dusk,
and had successfully protected the school from anarchy.
A new wave of rogue Dusk members, their efforts funded by a private
source, have a brand new scheme to take down the school. They've
learned from their past errors and will stop at nothing to annihilate the
current headmaster and discontinue Mythica Boarding School's efforts
to provide a safe haven for mutants. The new members of The Dawn
must now step up against an even greater threat, and with all of their
newly-developed abilities, the battle will quickly become bloody.

- Most of these rules I've recycled from the old rp. I believe they work
universally (although I have tweaked them a bit).
*Characters from the original Siege may not be used. However, characters from the last remake are allowed.
i ✧ Lemme guess. You're looking over the roleplay and thinking "Ohshit,
this is adv.-lit, I have to write 29364823960 words per post." Um, no. I truly
(no, really) believe in quality over quantity. I'm not gonna boot you from the
roleplay because your posts are a tad on the skimpy side. Pfft. I just want
some really good writers in here so we could get this thing moving along at
a good cruising pace. I really don't want to have a set post limit because I
don't want you all to fill up your posts with all those useless little details like
how ___ clipped her toenails or the hue of ___'s front door in an attempt to
appease me or the other rpers.
ii ✧ Make your posts and profiles pretty. I don't care how. Add color, add
pictures, or maybe even some fancy quotes. It keeps the IC from looking
bland and uninteresting, and will garner more excitement. And also it's
pretty fun making individual post formats for each character.
iii ✧ Yeah, yeah. Everyone expects me to make a rule saying there's no
cursing and there's no sex and all that jazz. Fortunately, this is a high
school setting. And if anyone has ever been to high school, there is no
censorship as to what people will do. So if your character feels like he
needs to swear, go ahead and let him. If two characters have developed
a relationship and want to have sex, I'm not stopping them. But don't go
into detail. We can simply assume what is happening under the covers.
iv ✧ Another thing you see in every roleplay you've ever joined -- I want to
see something new in every character, however difficult it is. The person
you create will not be Cutwrist Carl, Smiley Sandy, or Troublemaker Ted.
People's personalities are a little more complex than that. Although, yes,
most of the characters will have had traumatic pasts, do not allow that
fact to dominate their existence.
v ✧ Don't drag the plot down by dramatizing situations and making them
last forever. Be realistic. I'm planning events on certain dates and if your
character is the one holding us back, I won't hesitate to interrupt whatever
they are doing and skip forward.
vi ✧ I'm not going to make you highlight some crap that's hidden in white
text somewhere in the rules; that's annoying. If you read this part of the
rules, you'll know that in order to apply, you must PM the Background
Check to me and (after I accept the BC with a response PM) you
must post a link your profile in the OOC.
vii ✧ Share some tips with me! I'm definitely not perfect, that much is so
obviously certain. So PM me or post any concerns or suggestions you
have in the OOC. Things like clubs and special events can separate this
rp from all the others in terms of activity.
viii ✧ Just a forewarning, I won't ever PM you if you're inactive. It's your
own responsibility to remember what RPs you're in. So if you take a
leave of absence, be sure to PM me. If you post it in the OOC I might
not see it, so don't be surprised if you come back and your character
has been removed from the cast list.

- School Layout
The original Mythica Boarding School was built in the Middle Ages, hundreds
of years ago. Its original purpose was to house the nation's king and queen
but in the midst of a rebellion they were murdered and the castle was left to
rot silently. Twenty years ago, after the last war between the Dawn and the
Dusk, the Headmaster had decided to move the entire structure, using the
powerful teleportation powers of a former student. The new location is hidden
in the depths of a northern forest, one that is totally impenetrable to outside
forces. Animals of various species roam freely nearby and often come into
contact with the students. A stone bridge connects the school to the land
banks on either side of the river and also provides a pathway into the thick
forestation. There is also a courtyard in front of the school, where a large
number of classes are often held. The walls of Mythica are old but durable,
and have been bewitched to be resistant to fire and water damage. Although
the exterior looks rather ancient and dreary, the inside had been completely
modernized.
Seeing as how Mythica is totally cut off from the outside world, it is forced
to be self-sufficient. In the back of the school there is a greenhouse garden,
filled to the brim with fruits and vegetables as well as various flora. All of the
students' meals are made in the kitchens by a highly skilled cooking staff.
There is a laundry room in the old dungeons of the castle, and the students
must bring down their own dirty clothes and bedsheets if they want them to
be washed. On the second floor, there is a library, where students may take
out and read as many books as they wish. The main office, security guard
station and nurse's office are located on the first floor so that new students
will have no problem finding them if they become lost.
- School Grounds
Located within the forest east of the castle is an entirely separate section
of the school. The headmaster cleared a hundred acres or so to construct
necessities, such as a track, a football and soccer field, and an outdoor
Atrium. There's also an enormous lake nearby, one with strange and rarely
seen sea creatures living in it. There was an incident a few years ago where
a young student had disappeared while swimming in the lake. Rumors are
that a massive squid-like monster had dragged her under, and although the
school's administrators don't quite believe the tales, they have discontinued
all watersports and have also banned swimming at the lake. Naturally, the
students often behave foolishly and play around in the water, but it is only
a matter of time before someone else vanishes beneath the surface.

- Dorms
On the western side of the school lies another forest. A well-worn path leads
through here to a small village on the outskirts of the school grounds. This
village is fondly called Hog's Town and is where the students' and teachers'
dormitories are located.
The two largest buildings in Hog's Town act as homes for the children during
the school year. Separated by gender, the dorms are supervised by Mythica's
teaching staff. Each individual dorm is designed for two boys or two girls and
is fully equipped to meet each student's needs, including a walk-in wardrobe,
two queen-sized beds, a television set, a bookcase, a microwave and stove,
and a small wooden dinner table for two. There are five floors, one per grade
level, and a washroom for each floor that must be shared. The bathrooms
have twelve elegant sinks and private showers, as well as enough shampoo,
soap and deodorant to last the full school year.
In order to enter their rooms, students are not to use a key. Instead, there
is an advanced fingerprint-recognition system that changes depending on
the rightful inhabitants (and is completely shapeshifter-proof). The rooms'
doors are impossible to phase through, nor is it possible to see through the
walls with mutated vision.
- Hog's Town
The village itself is a tad old-fashioned, complete with numerous pubs, inns
and small shops. Mythica alumni and retired teachers work at the various
stores, preferring the quietness of the school grounds to the stressful lives
they would have lived had they returned to society. Students are given a
small monthly allowance with which they can purchase books, clothing,
toys and non-alcoholic drinks. Most of the older kids tend to stay out late
on the weekends, but due to the isolation of Hog's Town and Mythica, the
school's administrators aren't too worried about any immediate dangers.

- Grade Levels
There are five grade levels in the school (separated by age). Freshmen are
13-14 years old, Sophomores are 14-15 years old, Cadets are 15-16 years
old, Juniors are 16-17 years old, and Seniors are 17-18 years old. Certain
privileges, such as a later curfew, are given only to Seniors and Juniors.
Prefects act as the school's student safety patrol. Their responsibilities
include acting as guides to the younger students, breaking up fights and
assisting teachers with lessons. They are chosen especially by the Head-
master based on their maturity and scholarly skills.
- Classes
The courses provided at Mythica Boarding are obviously not among those
normally found in a school. Most of the elective classes revolve around the
improvement and mastery of each student's individual mutant abilities. The
teachers are specifically instructed to enforce limitations and restraints, as
the children must learn how to keep their powers under control in stressful
situations. However, the Headmaster believes the children should also be
well-rounded and highly educated, which is why the four major classes -
English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science - are mandatory.

- Background Check
- This must be PMed to me before you're able to participate in the rp. If I've
rped with you before, you still have to send me one, but you can eliminate
the example posts. I'm going to allow more than one character to have the
same power, but there will be a limit. I refuse to have fifteen telekinetics
walking around school grounds. Also, your decisions in your BG check
aren't set in stone. If you'd like to perhaps change your person's alliance
before you post their profile, you can.

- Profile Skeleton
- Your character's profile must include all of the following; more perhaps,
but no less. In order to submit a character, you have to make a test thread
dedicated completely to this profile skeleton. It can be separated into a few
different posts or you can put all of the details into one gigantic one. I won't
give you a particular format to follow, so you can have as much fun with it
as you want. But please, make it colorful and attractive. After you post your
profile and PM it to me I'll PM you your character's dorm room.
