♋ ♋╔══════ " It's battling time~ Oh, this ought to be fun~!! :3 " ════════╗♋ ♋

♋ ♋『Once upon a night we'll wake to the carnival of life,
The beauty of this ride ahead, such an incredible high!
It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead,
This moment the dawn of humanity, last ride of the day! 』♋ ♋

♋ ♋【 Serafina and Kazul descended, landing on the grounds just as the leaking gate spewed forth more groups of Daemons, several groups of not just shadows and Balboas, but with copious amounts of the higher ranked Daemons: Greater Shadows, Spinnekops, and Nightmeras scattered among them.
Arrianna immediately threw up a forcefield around them before the newly spawned threats could try to get a first hit in, it took a lot out of the valkyrie, who wasn't good with casting these sorts of spells like the dragon was.
Though it would hopefully hold the Daemons back long enough for them to get themselves organized, the forcefield wouldn't last forever, that was for sure...
Serafina listened as Arrianna sorted out the students into groups, the two headmistresses were in a group together, along with Miss Pavarti, Maria, and Nathanial, and they'd be taking on the central group, which had more of the bigger Daemons than the other two.
Once the group sorting was finished, the students were starting to organize themselves into their designated squads, Serafina and Kazul turned to face the group of Daemons they'd be taking on once the forcefield fell.
Looking to Arrianna, Fina nodded her head towards her fellow Co-Headmistress as she murmured, " Acroris," an invigoration spell that should help to replenish the energy the valkyrie had lost when she had cast the spell for the barrier.
" You really should be more careful when casting those spells, Arri, or else you won't have much energy left to fight~" she said with a cheerful tone, but there was an underlying hint of seriousness in her voice as she took on a battle stance, the barrier was already starting to deteriorate.
She smiled a little at Arrianna striking a battle position next to her, " Just like old times, huh?" she asked, though faint wisps of an imminent dragon breath attack was brewing within her jaws, Kazul baring his teeth and claws ferociously just as the Daemons were starting to push their way past the failing forcefield.

Cassandra grinned with satisfaction as more dæmons came out of the portal. Now that the small fry were out of the way, the real fun could begin. She couldn't wait to see which group she got to go after. She almost did a small dance as it was said she would be in the group going after the middle section of dæmons. That one had five Nightmeras. Five! There was no way a big spell could splash over after shooting it at one of those. She moved down from her high point to join the headmistresses. She wanted to just let loose right now, but she wasn't so intoxicated by her previous spell's success to do so and risk hurting anyone. She wanted to make sure she knew where everyone was going to be before she began any chanting. She looked towards the Nightmarens with a glint in her eye. "So what are we going after first? The big guys so that we can go easy for the rest of the fight, or are we clearing the feild so we have more room first?" Though she would have preferred the former, mainly because she wanted the satisfaction of taking down one of those big stupid lizards on her own, but there were still the basic fighters and the spell casters of the group to worry about. As much as it annoyed her, she had to think before simply razing the field with an awesome demonstration of her control over the elements.

Akira listened as the groups were formed, understanding that he was assigned to the group of Daemons that broke off to the right, or otherwise known as group three. A small metal man who's named appeared to be CID waddled up next to him, apparently now assigned to his group as well. He hoped the elemental would be helpful in this battle, because it appeared that for now they were the only two in the group who were actually here. Soon enough, the shield faltered, and the masses of Daemons broke through, Akira started with the shadows, not wanting them to form anymore greater shadows. "Incendio...." His rough voice whispered, shooting a flamethrower from his finger, and taking out three of the shadows. That left seven more who had moved out of the way in time. "CID, take out those shadows first before anything el-" He started, but then got ensnared by several Spinnekop webs. He growled, slightly irritated from his lack of attention. "ignis dóiteáin...." He muttered, body heating up as a flame barrier enveloped him, quickly chewing through the sticky trap.

Maria stopped at the sound of the sirens rang out and the announcement could be heard across the school. Seemed the Daemons weren’t going to let up not even on the first day. “Right…” she replied to Akira as she was picked up and set down right next to the portal. Not that she couldn’t have flew there herself with a bit of work. Not that many of the students knew it or at all.

Walking through the portal she appeared in front of the Headmistresses just in time to hear what they had to say. Being in the group that had staff members in it made things seem a bit better for to handle. She didn’t feel so stressed out except for the fact that she would be working with those far more experienced then herself. It was a little nerving at times if thought that way.

Despite the healing circle Maria didn’t need to worry so much about that as she readied herself pulling out her combat knife. The knife in her hair would be saved for later in case she needed it for a sneak attack. She had other hidden knifes as well but she would use them when the time was right. Walking over to one of her teachers and the two headmistresses she tried to gain the courage to speak.

“May I make a suggestion? The shadows… they form together to make greater shadows… if we take them out first we don’t have to worry about more than five of them on the group…” Maria suggested hoping that he voice would be heard this time. She was smart in that regard at least she thought so anyways.

Asheea found herself in a bit of a jam. She had tried to hide in the shadows closer to the others from group three, but was caught in the wrong form - in her usual tailed dark-elven form rather than her winged and armoured combat form, and she shrieked as one of the shadows lunged at her. Jumping to the side, the shade broke into a roll, running off to a somewhat secluded corner, buying herself just enough time to close her eyes tightly and reimagine herself.

Slowly, the uniform she was wearing was replaced by a shadow replica of studded leather armour - red in colour rather than usual black, and when she opened her eyes, the glowed a blood red. Her hair turned a deep, jet black, and with the armour came a pair of black, metallic wings. Suddenly, she was gripping a pair of sawtooth daggers in one hand, and she turned to face the shadow that had been accosting her, grinning madly for a moment. "Bring it, berk!" she shouted, holding one of the daggers up as the very shadows around her began flickering and bending. "I'm a shadow as well, you know! This will be fun!"

As the shadow closed in on Asheea, the dreamshade lashed out, slicing at the creature with the sawtooth edge of her dagger. A grin of satisfaction escaped the dreamshade as the creature recoiled in pain. Leaping up into the air and spreading the metallic wings to slow her fall, Asheea flicked her wrist towards the shade, watching in satisfaction as a bolt of eldritch energy slammed into her target, but it wasn't quick enough to avoid the shadow's own retaliation - grabbing a hold of Ash and forcefully dragging her against the ground with a painful thud!

Ash winced - she hadn't counted on that - and the shadow leapt atop her. Ash groaned and kicked out, managing to unbalance the shadow a little, getting it off of her before knocking it back with another eldritch blast. When the shadow was disorited, the dreamshade turned on her heels and fled into a dark spot nearby, vanishing to all but the keenest of eye as she melded with the shadows along the wall. Occasionally, she broke her cover as she lashed out with another eldritch blast against her foe - but it wasn't all that effective against another creature of shadow.

Delighted with his partners fighting style, Cid lit up in a plume of fire, taking a moment to ready himself, before charging into the remaining small shadows. His greater speed made it easy to overtake them, but the long streaks of fire he was lashing them with didn't seem to be doing much but driving them back further. Annoyed, he decided just ramming them would be easier.
With a burst of fire, he took off into the sky, careful to keep an eye on the group of creatures he was targeting. He let up on the propulsion and waited until he started free falling, before lighting up like a star.
Launching himself like a flame coated missile, he plowed into the vile bunch and let out a massive burst of fire upon impact to simulate an explosion. It worked pretty well, most of them either dying from the shrapnel or blaze, or else dragging their mangled bodies away from the destructive crater and laying still.
The impact, all though effective, left Cid a little winded, and getting out of the crater was a little difficult. He clambered out of it sluggishly, and felt his head for dents. Feeling none, he looked up to survey the damage, but a ring of light caught his attention.
It looked like some strange giant rune, beating with a soft and fantastic glow on the ground, like how Cid imagined listening to a heart beat would be like. By the ring was a small person with what looked like insect wings protruding from her back?? He started to come closer to get a better look, and she turned around.
The girl had the prettiest face he had ever seen, not even just in human standards. Cid felt something flip flop in his chest, and noticed his face was getting unusually warm. He had the sudden urge to go up and talk to her, so he did. She didn't seem to see him coming up, but that was alright.

Natalie looked up as soon as she heard a voice from behind, saying hello. "Hehe~ Hel-" She started to turn and say, but upon opening her eyes, she saw nothing but a fire, and her eyes went wide with fright. She quickly backed away, giving a squeal of terror from the overwhelming fear of fire she had. As long as she was a good distance away from fire spells, she was okay, but being so close to a fire elemental like CID nearly gave her a heart attack. "Eeeeek!!! Please! Please stop!!! Make it stop! The fire.... It's burning the forrest!!!" She said quickly, gripping her head and squeezing her eyes shut, not entirely realizing what she had said. It was quite obvious that there was no forrestfire around, yet she had still said there was for some reason. Oliver was also acting weird as Natalie lost control, seeming dazed and distraught, just like his Pixie mistress.

Flustered, Cid took a few steps back and extinguished himself, not quite certain what he did wrong. He made sure to give her a little bit more space, before tweeting softly to get her attention and show her that the fire was gone.
He was sorry that he scared her, and for once, a little ashamed of himself. The fact that she abhorred fire, which is what he was, made him feel heavy and cold inside. He didn't want her to hate him, and he figured he had better go away soon, but he couldn't leave her curled up in a scared little ball like that.

Natalie heard the light tweet of a kettle and looked around. Where was she..? Oh right! She was supposed to be healing this DEMI'S group. Well no one looked injured yet so she held fast. Her eyes settled on the little black doll on the ground. Smileing, she fluttered down to him. "Why aren't you a doll~ Hehe! Metaphorically speaking of course. What's the matter little guy...? You look sad..." She picked the iron boy up and held him like she often held Oliver. "Hehe~ You're so cute! Can you talk...?" She asked, seemingly oblivious to the fact that he had been a live fire a moment ago. Oliver regained is senses and continued to attack any Daemons that drew close, shaking off his disorientation from earlier.

He whistled in reply, hoping that would count as a yes. This wasn't exactly how he thought it would go, but at least she wasn't afraid anymore. He had to divert most of his attention onto keeping his temperature low enough so that he wouldn't burn her on accident, but he still tried to squirm out of her arms. Wiggling is very hard when you're made out of metal, though, so it didn't work very well.
Cid let out a frustrated puff of steam, burbling quietly. Oh well... Even if he couldn't talk, he was content with keeping her company.

Ichiro was thrilled that Cam's little white dragon didn't mind him petting him, and even returned a soft purr. It was practically the cutest thing Ichiro had ever seen, and he felt envious of Cam. Though, he also felt kinda stupid for guessing wrong on the gender, but Gwynny was a perfect name for Cam's little friend, none the less. Though, he didn't have time to relish in the moment long as loud sires starting blaring, denoting something serious was going on. Soon, Head mistress Rosmerta's voice could heard, shedding light on the situation on hand. Seemed anyone put on the DEMIS was required to head to the Sealed Gate immediately. It only meant Daemons were escaping the seal and they'd be no arguing that.User Image

Watching Cam's pet grow in size, Ichiro remained silent as he watched Cam climb up onto Gwynnt's back and take to the skies. He given the two a simple wave and a nodded as he watched the two disappear from his sight. There was a possibility that he'd see the two again, probably at the Sealed gate. Whenever it was he'd get there. Giving a light shrug to himself Ichiro slowly started off towards the spot where he had dropped 'Rosa' - his marionette - off and retrieved her from the ground. Hoisting her up onto his back, Ichiro slowly took off for the courtyard where a rift was promised to be located, that could take him to the sealed grounds. Of course, he was in no hurry and was certain the other were doing just fine.

Arriving at the courtyard, it wasn't hard of Ichiro to locate the portal Serafina had so kindly set up. "Alright... let's hope they've taken care of most the problem, Rosa." He told his partner before entering the rift. Stepping out on the other end, Ichiro wasn't surprised to see everyone in the thick of battle, fighting off whatever Daemon they could. Heeding, Arranna's command, Ichiro next headed over to the group he was assigned to - the ones fending off the group of Daemons on the right. But instead of joining his allies, Ichiro kept at the edge of the fight. Close quarters just wasn't his style.

It seemed Akira had gotten himself in a bit of a situation when he ended up getting caught in a Spinnekop's cleverly places web. Though, the archangel seemed quick to free himself, so there was no need to provide assistance there - not that Ichiro could have anyway. Tsk. Shifting his gaze, ichiro spotted what looked to be an individual entirely engulfed in flames. Was that on purpose? Ichiro couldn't tell, but again, if that was an issue, it was something Ichiro couldn't alley. Interestingly enough, the figure shot itself at the remaining shadows Akira failed to destroy. It was like watching a falling star impact the earth, decimating a few of the shadows in its wake. Ichiro found himself impressed by the display, but frowned when he noted a few of the shadows were still standing. "Great... he almost got 'em." Ichiro commented to himself as he watched the flame-like figure pull himself out of the crater in the ground. Seemed fire was popular weapon here... hmm.

Something had garnered the flame-figure's attention, though just what it was, Ichiro didn't bother to investigate. Instead, he got ready to lend his group a hand. Finally. Dropping the enchanted marionette he was carrying down on the ground, Ichiro closed his eyes a moment and focused his aura to create a thick black shadow upon the ground - underneath the doll that laid akimbo there. Within a the next moment or two, a second doll materialized beside the first. It was Rosa's twin. "Alright, Rosa, Laura... please don't fail me... or you'll be disowned by the rest of your siblings." He told the inanimate dolls as they both came to life, standing on their own two feet and letting the strings brush against the ground. Removing his Katana from his sheath, Ichiro tossed it to Rosa, who caught it with little movement. Laura already a combat knife with her, so no need to toss her something.

"Alright, Akira, my friend. Here's a few familiars for ya." Ichiro grinned to himself. The dark shadow he had casted upon the ground consumed the two marionettes, making it appear as though they had vanished completely. From there, the shadow raced across the ground, splitting in two before heading off to where the remaining shadows were that Akira and CID had not finished off. It was clear to Ichiro that the two were targeting them first, but Ichiro liked to do things differently then the rest. Targeting the Spinnekops responsible for the web that had snared Akira, Ichiro directed his two dark shadow towards it. One shadow appeared behind the creature, while the other in front. In unison, the shadows dissipated, revealing the two dolls, Rosa behind and Laura in front. User Image

As the Spinnekops began to launch a web at Luara, Rosa seized the initiative to impale its round, plumb abdomen, giving the blade a firm twist once it was a third of the way in. The Spider creature gave a loud hiss, drawing up some sort of magic spell to throw at its attacker in retaliation. Rosa ripped the sword from it's body and - just like Wulfric had instructed Ichiro - the doll rested both hands on the hilt of the blade and took a strong swift swing at the creature's legs, effortlessly going right through them, earning another loud cry of agony.

The Spinnekops' body collapsed to the ground, with three of its legs no longer there to support it. Despite its condition, the spider was still able to fire off a sort of fire-like spell at Rosa. There was no way the doll could escape the attack, but Luara wasn't too far behind. The second doll sprung up in front of her sister, glowing with a dark red aura as she absorbed the elemental spell that connected with her body. This was Ichiro's energy conversion trick, and looked like it'd be successful. Pointing her combat knife at the Spinnekops, Rose sent the fire-like attack right back at the spider, but this time the spell was amplified, taking the form of a huge fireball that quickly engulfed the spider. The creature hissed and screeched in a fury of flames before slumping over, motionless. But that was just one of the ten spiders. There were more then a few others now glaring at the two dolls. Ichiro would slowly taking out the rest... one at a time. And sadly, he wasn't guaranteed that his same tricks would work with the others ones as well.

Music- Blue the True Hero

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pete took a deep breath. He was glad they would have a little time to catch their breath from behind the shield, although something bothered him... The fact that his name was called last for group 1. That meant he was at the bottom of the barrel. He puffed out his cheeks underneath his helmet, stretching his arms to relieve a little tension. "Tch... Listen up!" Pete got into his battle stance before calling out to the others in group one. "I might not be the leader, but I don't want to see any screw-ups! Fight hard, but fight smart!" With that, Pete dashed to the left, where their designated targets were. He was planning to take out the small fry first, but two of the greater shadows took the initiative and bumrushed him. The first slammed into him hard, attempting to dig its black claws into Pete's armor. The other disappeared only to rise up from the ground behind him, grabbing his legs and gnawing at his heels.

Pete winced in pain, struggling to free himself. He wrapped his arm around the first shadow's head before violently burying his axe into its back. The shadow screeched, obviously in pain but unwilling to retreat. The second shadow continued to chew at Pete's ankles, until the Aqualis finally managed to kick it away. It rose up fully out of the ground, strafing slowly behind him. Pete, figuring that it was going to attack again, summoned his familiar with a whistle. Moments later, the still-bloated goldfish plummeted from the sky, landing right on top of the shadow behind Pete with a resounding thud. The familiar then unknowingly finished off the pancaked monster by rolling around playfully, squeezing out any life that might have remained in it.

Now, there was still the matter of this first shadow. Pete was still locked in a struggle with it, each of them unwilling to budge. The least I can do is hold it in place while the others get a few shots in at the smaller guys, he thought.

Arranna smiled as Fina reminded her of the many times they had stood side by Simeon this very field, fighting back Daemons ever since she could remember. It seemed things hadn't really changed at all. She pondered Cassandra's question, thinking it over. They could do this in a few ways; One way was picking individual targets and attacking them as a group, more than effectively killing them off, or, they could split them up between themselves, each taking on a different enemy, that way they could take on multiple Daemons but killing them would take longer. For now, she agreed with Maria's idea, take out the small ones and decrease the numbers, especially the shadows to get rid of the possibility of more greater shadows. However, they could do that, and more with Cassandra in their group. "Alright, here's what we'll do; Cassandra, you take out those shadows, they crowd together so your wide range attacks will be effective on them. Maria, Fina, help me take down some of the nightmerras, Nathan, direct your fire spells at the Spinnekops, they don't like fire and it'll help with those web traps. Let's move!" Arrianna commanded, likeing this plan, and immediately she headed for one of the nightmerras. Staff in hand, she jumped, positioned her staff, and got ready to obliterate. "Lux Tormento!!!!" She yelled, and her staff filled up with a bright light, shooting out at the nightmerra. It hit directly in the chest, and sent the beast flying back. She then followed with a swift strike to the face with her polearm, not wanting to allow it any time to counter or recover, however, this one was sharper than the nightmerras she had fought before. It quickly recovered, and spewed lava all around the ground where Arrianna was going to land. She swore under her breath and used her speed boost ability, zooming backwards and projecting light based wings as she narrowly avoided the molten mess.

Cassandra was a little dissapointed she wouldn't be able to go after a nightmara, but she knew what the headmistress was right. If they got more greater shadows then they were going to be in trouble. The wide range of her attacks was perfect for the close grouping shadows too. She watched Rosmerta engage a nightmara wistfully, then turned her attention to the shadows. She didn't want to use another lightning spell. They might be expectin it. Who knew, maybe some of the shadows she had missed from the forerunners had mixed in with the current group. Then she got an idea. Something so that they couldn't run away. She stabbed the end of her staff into the ground, this time a brown magic circle appearing around her. "Mother Gaia, we present for you a feast of those who dare tread upon your soul. Please take them with joy that they will walk no longer. Crushing chasm, coiling stone, ephemeral mountain, Ancient Cauldera!"

As she chanted the ground around the shadows began to quake. Of course, since the stupid things had no feet, they didn't notice something was up until the earth started rise sharply around them from all sides. The earth rose to form a small mountain, about the size of a two story house. Not massive, but big enough to be noticed. She didn't need to destroy the entire battlefield. Once the mountain was fully formed, it stood there for a moment, trembling before finally collapsing on itself, crushing the shadows within into oblivion. It formed a small crater where the mountain once was, a cauldera to be precise. She looked over her work once the dust had settled, smirking. Good. She had gotten all of the annoying little things in one go. Now to focus on more dangerous foes.

Acario had gotten through a few groups of grunt daemons, however, when Pete first arrived, he kneeled down and started mumbling some nonsense. "Pete, anytime now." He taunted, rolling his eyes. Once he actually absorbed some water and went to town on the Daemons, calling in Viktoria to start attacking too. However, before they could start, Headmistress Rosmerta put a barrier around the rest of the portal, sealing away the daemons for now. He headed over to where Viktoria desided that their group would meet after Rosmerta put together the groups, and waited. "I'll be watching to make sure you learned something from our battle earlier." He chuckled, teasing Viktoria. "... But seriously Vik... Try not to get hurt." He asked her honestly, just before the shield went down. Pete stated off their fight with a small speech, a good one, but kinda corny, and shortly afterward because of it he was rammed by two greater shadows. He took care of the first one fairly quickly. It dispersed into black aura and disappeared as the life force keeping it active died, but Pete was a bit tied up with the seccond still. With a sigh he dashed over to the fish head and peeled the shadow off him by force, digging his sword into its head and causeing it to erupt into black aura as well and vanish. "Fish don't do too well out of water eh Pete?" He smirked, and moved on to one of the nightmerras. Jumping into the air he struck, making a mark but not completely cutting through the armor on the Nightmerras chest. The molten plate scales on those things were so frustrating. Quickly he jumped out of the way as the beast spit a fireball in his general direction, and came back with another strike to the chest in the same place he had hit before, making a bigger dent, but still not quite breaking through. "Hey Pete! You can thank me by spouting some water at this thing!" He growled, jumping and floating in the air as the lizard spit molten lava at his feet.
