Yukino shut the door to the class behind her and filed into a seat, "I guess we do."
History of Magic was terribly boring. The teacher, a man looking to be in his late eighties named Dr. Cole Geirge, droned montonously about the times when magical creatures were at peace and the wizards had no role in history.
"Before recorded history, there was a time of infinite peace and wellness. There were birds of the Relati species flying freely; the birds are now endangered. There were small relatives of the crocodile, the Corona Ictus, also called the Crown Chomp, I know, ha ha, how funny. But they really were called the Crown Chomp and they fed on Relati and on anyone with the ability to manipulate magic. We also called the Crown Chomp a ....anyone know? Anyone?" no answer, "A wizard killer. They were famed for their contributions to making all wizards either flee or die. Wizards were uncommon and thus had a very small role at the time," he paused for a moment before continuing, "During this period of time, a few magical nations flourished. With no wizards to restrict them, the Nakkani and Tellena tribes lived in virtual peace. The Tellena tribe contains the people of the leopard. They had the famous leopard spots all over their bodies and could take on a cat form at will. As they did not study or perfect any magical talents outside of this inborn and innate skill, they were in no danger from the Crown Chomp. The Nakkani were the people of the tiger. They wer covered in tiger stripes and could also morph into their feline counterpart. Outside of this, little is known of the Nakkani tribe for they are very secretive. Yet, there was rumored to be another tribe of cat that was so secretive that few, even at the time, knew it existed. No informatin has been found to prove its existance. Some say that the tribe might still be thriving away from the prying eyes of wizards who threaten to change their long running traditions.
"Your textbook had two chapters on what we know of the cat tribes and you will need to read them for homework," the bell rang as class ended, "Dear me, class is over already, I hadn't covered half the lesson but...fine...Read those chapters and expect a popquiz the day after tomorrow. Goodbye," he said waving them out.
Yukino sighed and got up. She slipped a page full of notes into her book and headed off to her next class, French.
"Au revoir, Rini," she said, slipping into class.
