TAL-SHANG

"Ummm..." This new kid had done what seemed to be near impossible to do, which was throw Tal at a loss for words. Was this guy joking, was he serious, did he really just call a guy a chap?! He gave the boy a nervous grin, releasing his hand from the shake and sending it straight to his glasses, to fiddle around with as he always did when slightly anxious. "Umm...thank you...?"

Yes Tal was a little uncomfortable at the moment, but his sense of pride as usual tried to play him off as anything but. He kept his steady face at the boy, while Alexander it seemed hurried off. He swore silently in his mind, knowing that the next time he sees the idiot...something would happen. Seeing the teen in front of him be extremly anxious, more so than he was but a minute ago, Tal gave him a look of encouragment.

"So Gabriel, you're new in town i'm guessing?" He hitched his bag further up his shoulder, attempting at least to start a conversation. Luckily this boy hadn't said it to the wrong people at school. While Tal would admit he wasn't particularly bi or gay, he wouldn't harass or make a person who was life miserable. If they had said this to someone like Alexander possibly, with him being alone, then there might be problems.

Xenevia was rather taken back at Mark’s words but at the same time wasn’t surprised at all. She had gotten customers that had said the exact same words to her and it was getting rather old. But since Xenevia was a patient person, she merely smiled. “I see well, I am sorry but I’m no flower” she said then noticed her manager giving her a strange look. Xenevia had to do something before she gets into trouble so she began to think of something to say to Mark so he can leave the shop. “Since you aren’t really looking for an actual flower in particular, is there anything else you need?”

Then she felt a hand graze her shoulder and turned to see that it was the young asian male. Again she smiled sweetly at him, “thank you, please come again soon” she said then turned back to Mark. She stared at him while waiting for an answer, she began to think if he was the type to flirt with all the females. If that was the case, Xenevia didn’t really want to deal with that type of person. Mark is going to have to do more than flaunting his looks and spewing out cheesy phrases. Though she had to admit he was really charming and very good looking, which apparently didn’t help.

She had opened her bag and was pulling out a few books and her doodled folders as she chattered absently to the squirrels and birds. "Daddy told me that I have to try harder in my Physics class. He says that if I pass, he'll finally take me camping in Yellowstone. And, if I get an A or a B, he said that he might even take me to Carlsbad Caverns before we come home. I really have to buckle down so I can go on that trip, you gu..." She gulps and looks up, cheeks turning a bright pink as she stares at Ash.

"Uhm...Hi. I know that they don't talk back, but I can babble at the birds and squirrels all day and they never get bored or tell me that I'm...uhm...strange." She sits up, tucking her dress around her legs and hugging her bag to her chest, peering through her bangs at the other girl. "My name is L-Lydia, but most people just call me Fawn. You go to my school, right? I've seen you around sometimes. Oh, did you want to sit? I....don't have any chairs, but there's lots of soft, comfortable grass." She glances around, still blushing like crazy, aware that she was babbling in an attempt to cover her embarrassment at being caught talking to the animals, but she couldn't control her own mouth. It seemed like every thought that popped into her head was bypassing the filter and just blurting through her lips.

When Tal didn't make fun of him, Gabriel was slightly encouraged. Maybe his friends had just been trying to scare him. He relaxed a little, running a finger along one of the many tattoos on his arms. He gave Tal a lopsided smile. Maybe Tal would be one of his new friends, though he seemed awfully serious.

"Yes, my family just moved here yesterday. We're from London, originally, but my mother is from Japan. It's hard starting over in your senior year of secondary school. What year are you in?"

Gabriel's phone was buzzing in his pants, a sign that his mother was trying to call him. He pulled out the phone and flicked it on silent. She was worried sick about him, but Gabriel wanted to have at least one friend here. This might be his only chance.

"Sorry for that. Overprotective mum."

Mark shurgged sheepishly. "My apologies. That'll be all," he said lightly. So, she was the unresponsive type, good to know. For now, though, he needed something a little more...entertaining. He'd quickly tired of his usual game, and headed out of the flower shop and started heading down the street once more in the direction of his apartment.

A car pulled up to the curb behind him, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw the black and white painting of the car, and sighed. 'Now what?' he thought to himself, turning around to see a cop with curly, auburn hair rolling down her window. The same one that had so graciously given him a ride back to the school not three hours ago.

"Staying out of trouble, Mark? Or will I have to give you a lift again?" she asked, her tone sarcastic and bitter. Mark gave her a grin of reassurance as he informed her that he was heading back to his apartment, and nothing more. She eyed him closely another moment, as if trying to read Mark's mind to see if he were telling the truth. He figured she'd given up, as she sighed, rolled up the window, and drove off once more.

"Damn cops," he muttered under his breath, shaking his head. He wondered what to do now, but first he reached his apartment building and headed up to the second floor. Entering the small apartment, he emptied his phone, iPod, and wallet onto the kitchen's counter and sat down on the couch with a sigh. He saw the phone sitting across from him where he'd left it that morning. It was blinking to say he had an unheard message, and he sighed. Probably his mother again, no doubt with a few choice words for him.

Ashelin offered the girl a smile. She was a bit shy herself, so she could understand the girl's embarrassment. "It's okay, really. I think it's kind of cool actually. I talk to my cat all the time; it seems like she's the only one who will listen," Ashelin supplied in an attempt to ease the girl's embarrassment. The bit about her talking to her cat was true. Whenever she was at home and had no one else to talk to, her old cat, Tiger, seemed to be willing to listen to. Lately though, she'd been spending more and more time away from home, trying to live her own life while she still could.

"Sure, the grass is fine really," she said, taking a seat in the grass across from Fawn. It was a nice day, and the forest was rather calm. Maybe she'd start coming her more often. "Oh, I'm Ashelin, by the way," shad said quickly, remembering that she'd forgotten to mention her name. Fawn seemed rather flustered at the moment, but Ashelin hoped she'd get past that.

[Odette]

How many inches in a m i l e
What it takes to make you s m i l e
Bet'Cha not to treat me like a c h i l d

It didn't take long for the bell to ring and interrupt Whisper and Jayden's talking in class. She had still been holding hands with him and ever since this morning she couldn't let go of him. They had been homecoming dates but to Whisper it seemed like they were going out. Whisper didn't mind at all, just the thought of her Jayden going out made Whisper's heart warm up and make her smile. The whole day was filled with so many surprises that Whisper couldn't wait for the next one to come, whether it was a good one or a bad one.

Whisper hoped her parents care if she did ride with Jayden. Whisper didn't want to go home just yet. She didn't care that her mom told her to come home straight from school. Whisper was a teenager and she wanted to be one until she hit the age twenty. Her parents may have been one of the richest family in the town but they weren't exactly parents of the year. Whisper's parents had a thing of setting Whisper's future on what they wanted and never on what she wanted. Whisper kind of felt jealous of Jayden's lifestyle. She wanted the freedom and the ability to live alone, to achieve her own dreams. Whisper wanted to become a dancer but her parents wanted her to become the owner of their company. Whisper hated that company but not only because it was her future but it was her parent's life. An average family would have a loving family where their whole life revolved on their child. Not Whisper's. To Whisper it was like the child was the company and her parents had to tend to its every care and need. With the upcoming child and fun events in Whisper's life Whisper wondered how her parents would balance that.

Whisper quickly packed her things and stood next to Jayden smiling. He had offered her a ride in the morning. Whisper couldn't forget it. Whisper smiled and looked at Jayden. As she was looking she slowly traced his fingertips with her own. Whisper blushed and looked down on the floor. She didn't know what she was doing but she liked it. She hadn't had her heart filled with such warmth. "Hey, you ready?" she asked. Whisper adjusted her backpack on her shoulder and awaited Jayden's answer. "Um, I know that the decision was that I would ride with you home but I don't wanna go to my house at all. I just don't feel so good going straight to my parents after a long day. You think we could hang out at your place or go out to eat or something like that?" Whisper added, as she looked at him. Whisper was scared at what his answer would be. She never really did see his place but she never knew that much about Jayden. She thought that if she went to his place she could get to know him a little bit more. I hope he says yes. she thought to herself, blushing.

Xenevia nodded and smiled politely at the male, “okay then Mark, if you do come back and you’re actually looking for an actual flower, I’ll be here” she said then watched him leave the store. She heaved a sigh of relief and placed a hand on her chest, for some odd reason it started to beat slightly faster. Then her manager waltz over and began to share a few words with her, “isn’t that the boy you like?” she asked though not sounding rather nice about it. Xenevia paused for a moment, she didn’t recall talking to her boss about her crush in fact she doesn’t share any important information with people. “Uhm if you don’t mind me asking, how do you know that?” she asked. Her manager simply looked at her and let out a slight giggle, “hun I can see it written all over your face, even though you don’t show it, I can see it in your eyes and your body language. I mean come on he was the first boy you actually handed a flower to just to let him smell it” she said then walked back to the back room. Xenevia was rather surprised at what her manager had just said, was she really showing signs of interest even though she didn’t know it? She let out a sigh and looked at the vintage looking clock hanging on the wall, it was an hour before the flower shop closes.

In a way, Xenevia didn’t want to close down the shop yet because she didn’t want to go home any time soon. She hated coming home to her father that apparently ignores her and a step-mother that treats her very poorly. However, her father had been gone for business reasons and she hardly sees him. But her step-mother however is a different story, she’s always found home doing nothing but eat, sleep, and drown herself in useless soap opera shows. Then she has the nerve to tell Xenevia to clean the house and feed her. Xenevia wished that someone would just take her away and live a better life, but things like that only happen in fairy tales.

Since the flower shop was empty once again, she grabbed a hold of a bottle of windex and paper towels and approached the window. She sprayed the window with the chemical and began wiping the window. Her dark eyes watched people as they passed the flower shop, some with friends or significant other. They all looked so happy and it made Xenevia rather envious. Even though life was hard for Xenevia now, she knew that in the future when she finally finishes school she can leave the country and return to her wonderful Italy. But for now, all she had to do was be patient. As she was wiping the windows, she began singing a tune to herself. Her opera-like voice echoed through the flower shop in which her boss can hear from the back room. Though it seemed that her boss didn’t mind her singing since it brought a feel of relaxation throughout the flower shop.

She blinked in mild shock when the girl actually sat down across from her, lips tugging into a bright smile before she jerked open her bag and stuck her head in to paw through loose papers and books. "I think everyone talks to their pets, except maybe for those evil, heartless people who are mean to them. Come to think of it, they probably talk to them, too. They just say nasty, hurtful stuff. Here they are!" Her head reappears, as well as her hands, each holding one of those small boxes of animal crackers by the string across the top.

"Here you go. They're pretty tasty and the animals just adore them. I talked to my dad, he's a vet by the way, and he said that these are actually okay to feed the birds and squirrels. They don't have too much sugar, you know?" She hands Ash a box and shoves her bag aside to open the other one, plucking a cookie out to pop into her mouth, then crumbling up another and tossing it into the grass a few feet from them. "So, Ashelin, right? You're probably really excited about the dance, huh? I bet every boy at school has asked you to go with him, you're so pretty and sweet." She grins over at her and bites the head off an elephant, then tosses the rest toward the base of a tree.

Love [luhv]
- noun
a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.

♡ S ighing, Krysta scratched the back of her head and furrowed her eyebrows, realizing that she wasn’t quite so sure about what to do next/ I guess I could always see if Brandyn’s free for the afternoon. Maybe we could hang out, or something… Abruptly, Krysta received a mental image from the more self-conscious side of her brain – one of Brandyn looked down at her disdainfully. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Krysta backed away from her locker and shut the door, slipping the padlock in and shutting it in place to lock her locker again. Nah…he might think I’m too needy, or something. Leave it to the Aaronson child to overanalyze a simple situation and be overly conscious of what might happen.
Grumbling to herself about something along the lines of ‘life isn’t fair’, Krysta began confidently walking out of the school – confident, that was, to find something to entertain herself with.

☆ T he afternoon sun was definitely refreshing, even though Krysta had been outside not less than just a few hours ago. Krysta glanced around, trying to pick out people she knew that could possibly carry out a conversation with her. People were mingling about, a majority of the girls chattering amongst themselves discussing their attire for Homecoming. Krysta grinned at the girls and their mapped-out dresses, already picturing the gapes and stares she’d receive for the outfit she’d picked out for Homecoming. I’ll need to videotape it and send it to AFV, she thought wryly, making her way through the mobs and crowds of gathered high-schoolers and loving the stares she was getting from peppy girls because of her unusual scarf and put-together outfit. Why not let them stare? was her way of looking at it – they all were jealous that she could pull it off, anyway.

♡ F inally deciding on just walking around town to look for someone to talk to, Krysta took a direct right turn from the school grounds towards the area where various apartment buildings were stationed. She didn’t make a beeline for her own, however, and instead decided on walking around for a while, making turns into and out of alleyways and smaller streets, before flopping down on the front of a random apartment building’s front lawn, pillowing her head with her arms as she shut her eyes and imagined what it would feel like to fly…

Raising his eyebrows slightly, the only comment Kung Woo made to Brandyn’s unexpected answer was “Really, now?” But because the other boy didn’t go further into detail and description, Kung Woo didn’t ask any more. If the other person didn’t bother to go into detail, why bother to ask for them to go into detail? That was how Kung Woo looked at any situation, at least. The last thing he wanted to be was nosy, and when you don’t necessarily want to share a piece of information and someone asks for it, you’ll most likely look at that person as nosy, from that day forward. Still, Kung Woo couldn’t help but to wonder if Brandyn was going with someone he liked. But who could Brandyn like? Inwardly laughing at himself, Kung Woo shook his head a little. Kung Woo couldn’t think of anyone that Brandyn could like, but mostly because of the fact that he almost always looked at his fellow math class-hater as an equal. An equal, in Kung Woo’s eyes, meant that they had practically the same thoughts about almost anything. Except, Brandyn seemed to like adventure a little more, and was a bit more immature than Kung Woo.

x Yawning slightly, Kung Woo didn’t bother covering his mouth like his mother had told him to when he’d once yawned loudly during a funeral service. Eight at the time, Kung Woo had stubbornly refused and returned the silent gesture with an even louder yawn, this time bearing the spaces in his teeth where his “grown-up” ones hadn’t filled in yet. Needless to say, he’d gotten a bit of a scolding when the Park family had returned to their home after the service.
Brandyn’s returned question startled the boy a little. It wasn’t that unexpected, of course, because Kung Woo had, after all, asked it first. He even supposed it was natural for someone like Brandyn – someone like himself – to return a question just for the heck of it.
Chuckling slightly, he shook his head with a sheepish smirk. “Naw…no one loves me,” he joked, pulling on a fake “puppy-dog” pout and blinking his eyes innocently, stopping the next minute, bursting into laughter. Shaking his head again, Kung Woo lowered his gaze. “Nah, I haven’t found the right girl yet.” Or maybe, his inner conscience was nagging him again, You haven’t even looked for the right girl yet. But Kung Woo, as usual, mentally swatted away the thought.

Stretching again, Kung Woo glanced at Brandyn and listened to his answer before nodding slowly and scratching the back of his neck. “Well…I gotta get going now. It’s almost time for my shift.” Nodding as he began to take lazy steps backwards, Kung Woo turned so his back was facing Brandyn, shouting a “I’ll…uh…catch you later!” before bounding off and starting to walk – his posture casual, but his pace a little quicker than his usual leisurely one.
As he walked, he passed by the clutter of apartment buildings, spotting a girl lying down peacefully on one of the front lawns as he passed by. She looked familiar, but Kung Woo couldn’t exactly put his finger on what her name was. She was in his French and English class, that was for sure, and maybe his gym class, too… Whoever she was, Kung Woo only knew that she wasn’t the type to “go with the flow”, and respected the girl for that.

xArriving three minutes later at the flower store he worked at – yes, SURPRISE! Kung Woo Park works at a flower store! – Kung Woo sighed contentedly as the fragrance of the various breeds of flowers wafted to his nose. The reason for the music-loving boy picking the flower store to work at was because the flowers were so peaceful, as he looked at it, and almost always inspired him to write down lyrics to newly-created beats. Besides, the store gave a good pay, and Kung Woo always insisted on taking care of himself, though his family thought otherwise.
Inside already was Xenevia. She was fairly quiet, Kung Woo knew, and seemed like a nice person. Smiling at her and inclining his head at her in greeting, Kung Woo made a beeline for the greenhouse portion of the store. It was beautiful, inside, the room extremely warm because of the heating for the tropical flowers.
Picking a spot between two rows of orchids, Kung Woo lay down on the cool tile, shutting his eyes and beginning to drift off to the fragrance of the greenhouse.

"Homecoming" the sound of that word made Avery excited and nervous at the same time. She was on her 'break' thinking who she could ask or possibly go with to the dance. Avery frowned, wondering where she was going to get a dress, she wasnt that ruch. Playing with the necklace that hung around her neck, she just watched as people came in and sat down, half the customers never ordered anything. "Josh" that was the first name that came to mind, Avery had a crush on him ever since she came to this school. Another name that came to mind was Mark, but she only thought he was cute, too cute. Lost in thought, she snapped back to reality when she felt someone poking her. "Earth to Avery, you have work to do" her boss yelled, handing her a mop. Avery gave a glare to her boss, and started mopping the floor, a few strands of hair got into her face.

"Just a few more years" she thought, as she mopped the floor angrily, thinking that a few years sounded like forever. An hour had gone by and Avery could finally just go home and relax. "hah! easier said than done" she mumbled, as she headed out fo the cafe, knowing she had plenty of other chores to mend to before she could actually take a break. First she had to babysit her nighbors kids for an hour, then go buy some groceries, and then finally she just had to figure out all her homework. Walking along the sidewalk, she looked at herself in a window shop and smiled a little. Avery always thought she was real pretty, it was just the clothes she wore since she couldnt afford much. In truth most people didnt actually notice her and if they did they did a good job of ignoring.

TAL-SHANG

"Really now?" Tal nodded his head, now slightly intrigued with this kid and his story. It wasn't everyday that you get a british japanese kid, and by the tatoos and outfit, he was guessing this kid had some influence of hardcore punk or rock, or something. Not that it bothered him, for as long as people did what they were supposed to and not haggle soceity or slow it down, shoot, they could go around ina bunny costume or something.

As the boy's cell phone rang, Tal was able to smile a little. That he was famliar with, the over-protective calls and demanding parentals to make sure you hadn't left town yet, by any means. He calmed down a little, dropping his hand that has messing with his glasses, instead propping himself against the banister, arms leaning back holding onto the stone. "It's cool, i know how moms could be." He shrugged his shoulders in a moment of humor. "You're looking at the boy who couldn't walk outside his house until a few years ago." He looked down, still remembering how trapped he had felt all those years. "But i doubt she could top my parents, combined."

He snapped his head back up, and brought his bag to the front, pointing it out to Gabriel. "Actually, i should have been long gone from here by now. I have piano to go to, and my mom goes beserk if i'm late by a few minutes." He pushed himself foward, face to face with Gabriel again. "How were you planning to get home? I mean, i'd treat you for a day out and show you all the places of interest here, but i need to get home practically right this moment." He began bounding down the steps to the bike rack, but still looking up at Gabriel. "I mean, if you ever want to hane out during the weekend or something i'll most likely be free. I get some free time after i do my studies."

He suceeded in freeing his bike, and gave a small chuckle of amusement. Today wasn't nearly as bad as it was yesterday it seemed, in every aspect. He set his bag on his shoulder more securely, and threw a leg over the side, turning the handles so the bike spun around, the kick stand already flipped up. He pedaled to the foot of the stairs, where Gabriel was. "So man, i'd offer to drive you home, but as you can see my bike is single rider only." He pedaled back, the red and gold paint on the frame shining off in the sun."We'll talk tomorrow dude okay? Cool." And with a one-handed wave Tal was off, speeding home before his parents could have anything to say or question. Gabriel seemed like a nice guy, but if he knew his parents, one look at his appearnce and their minds would be firm. He sighed, letting the wind rush his hair as he ventured downhill, now cruising. This would be a plan of delicate proportions, he was sure.

Singing was one of Xenevia’s hobbies and it made her feel relaxed when she sings, also it made her forget certain things in her life. Once she finished wiping the windows, she tossed the paper towel in a trash bin. A few moments later, a familiar person walked into the flower shop, it was Kung Woo. Xenevia smiled back at the asian male and watched him stroll towards the greenhouse portion of the shop. She raised a brow when she saw him lying down on the cool tiles of the shop. Shaking her head and letting out a small chuckle, she walked into the back room and brought out a broom. For someone who came to just work for one hour, he should at least keep the appearance of the shop.
User Image
She began sweeping the floor heading towards the direction of Kung Woo. When she arrived at the greenhouse portion, the temperature of the room changed. It was warmer because of the tropical flowers that were kept in side. There she saw the sleeping Kung Woo she smiled again and dropped the broom a few inches away from Kung Woo and it made a loud cracking noise when it hit the tile. She folded her arms and began scolding her co-worker, “Kung Woo, if you’re going to work for an hour at least help me clean the shop, you’re always sleeping in this room, the boss doesn’t pay you to just sleep” she said then playfully kicked Kung Woo’s right foot.

Though seeing her friend lay on the floor looked rather comfortable, so she decided on sitting on the tile next to him. She gave him a friendly smile and reached over to poke his nose, “how was class today? Too bad we don’t have any classes together” she said trying to stir up a conversation. Then she started feeling curious if he has asked anyone to homecoming yet, “hey so did you ask anyone to go with you to homecoming? Why don’t you ask Ashelin because everyone seems to think you like her” she questioned once more.

Jake Lamburo

Jake quietly walked beside Saybrae, not trusting himself to speak. He had never been one to make good 'small talk' as some called it, seeing as he never had much of a chance to practice it. He would have quickly obliged and spoken with her if she'd instigated the conversation, but she seemed to be absorbed in thought at the moment.

The two of them made their way outside when Saybrae began walking towards a lone bag lying upon the stone wall lining the walkway. It looked to be on the heavy side to him when she lifted it, but it was just filled with textbooks more likely than not. "You know, they have lockers for a reason." He said in a joking voice as he looked over the strap threatening to break.

He looked down at her phone when she did, seeing the autographed soccer ball. "Do you like soccer..?" He asked tentatively, realizing it was a stupid question a moment too late. Of course she did. Why would she have a picture of one as her background instead of her dog or boyfriend? He let out an inaudible sigh at his blunder. He really needed to work on his conversation skills.

When she asked what he typically did "after a fine day at the state educational facility", he shrugged. "Oh, I typically bum about, to be honest. What do you do?" He replied with a small grin. He found no shame in being lazy, and took pride in it most of the time. Everyone else could go ahead and stress about whatever they wanted, Jake was content with an afternoon watching television and eating cookies.

His sister, however, didn't take his relaxed life style in such stride. She was pressing him to get a job like her to help pay the bills. He knew she would break him soon, and he would eventually get one, but he felt that was even more reason to laze about than ever.
