♭ Containing his chuckles, Kung Woo obliged when Fawn asked him to get up before she passed out. He dusted off his knees, inwardly shocked that Fawn had actually said the words “before I pass out”. Of course, he’d been expecting some sort of reaction of the sort, but not an actual confession that she was about to pass out from him asking her to go to Homecoming with him. Especially since another person was involved, so it wasn’t all that personal. But Kung Woo just assumed that that was the kind of shy, non-outgoing person Fawn was, so of course she would take everything someone else said a little more seriously than the next person. “I am not going to regret inviting you,” the Asian boy told the chattering girl simply, his tone perfectly even and calm. He was, after all, telling the truth. In his eyes, any event involving Fawn would be fun, but mainly because of the reactions he was sure to get if he even attempted flirting or hitting on her. It was a little mean to be teasing her, of course, but Kung Woo would know when to stop.
x ♮ Faintly smiling as Fawn invited them into her house for cake and drinks, Kung Woo suddenly realized that the rather shy girl was rather childish, for the first time. Animal Crackers, walking about with bare feet, cake and drinks stocked up in her house? This is one adorable family, he couldn’t help but to think, and faintly smiled as he followed the two girls in.
Ashelin and Fawn chatted – mostly Ashelin, about dress shopping, or something – as they walked, and Kung Woo occasionally put in his two cents, but mostly just observed around him, following behind closely as he thought of a color scheme for his outfit. Yes – Kung Woo is that guy in the crowd who can pull off color scheming without passing for “gay”.

♡ F ighting back from frowning as Mark practically spat about how he wasn’t into dancing, Krysta pasted on a smile, making it seem like it wasn’t forced with her amazing acting skills, and reached out to poke his forehead gently. “Why not, Mark-icus? Homecoming is fuuuunnnnn! You get to dance with people! And…and eat all of the Gold Fish and drink all of the Pepsi and Sprite!” It’s especially exciting and fun if you’re going with someone you like, the girl inwardly reminded herself, her stomach jumping as she thought of the upcoming event she’d attend with Brandyn. How lucky she was, in her opinion, was probably a fifty out of five.
♡ T he stopped straining her calf muscles and placed her balled-up hands on her hips, looking up at the boy from her regular height. He was quite tall, and Krysta wasn’t exactly the tallest girl in a mob. Or the average. In fact, she was on the petite side. The very petite side. “You know what, Mark-zilla? I think…I think that hair is something more than just hair. I think…” pausing, Krysta cocked her head and paused for a moment to think about exactly what she was going to use to back up her statement. Needless to say, the girl would never make it on the Debate Team, even if she wanted to.
Finally allowing it to come to her, Krysta snapped her fingers before jabbing Mark’s chest with her right hand’s pointer finger as hard as she could with every point she made, which wasn’t very hard, considering she was so small. “I believe that hair not only is made up of…uh…well, I dunno what it’s made of, but it’s not only that, but also something to contain the…uh…shininess of your head!” Bursting out into laughter as she finished her little retort, Krysta spread out her arms to start spinning around in circles, her head tilted up as she laughed, stumbling without stopping into random objects before she finally tripped over a rock with a “WHOAAA!!” and landed on her front with a groan.

♡ L ying there, although her face was quite aching, was quite comfortable, Krysta had to admit, so she stayed in the position, inhaling the freshly mowed grass as she shut her eyes. Heavily lifting her arm and patting the area to her left, she mumbled something along the lines of “join me”, gesturing for Mark to lie down next to her. Not realizing that others might have been uncomfortable lying on grass infested with leaves, that was.

Sophie grabbed his hand and dusted off her butt. "Thank you.." She walked towards the street and waited for him. "Its over there, near the school." She walked next to him wondering what to say next.
"So, where are you from?" She didn't know any other question to ask. And luckily for her the shop was near by and she opened the door for him. "There you go, sit down any where and I will come follow you alright? I have to go wash my hands." She smiled.

Lydia "Fawn" Walker
She beams at the both of them and lets them step in before closing the door, then heading off through her house toward the living room, practically skipping with excitement. Not many people had visited her at home, in fact, her last real friend had been back in junior high, and after that girl had found out her father was deaf, she hadn't wanted to come to her house anymore. She'd told everyone in school about her father, made him sound weird and creepy, and no one had wanted to be her friend after that. The memory makes her frown a little, but neither Kung Woo or Ashelin had seemed put off by the sign language that had passed between herself and her dad, so maybe things would be okay this time.
She leads them to the living room, where there is a big, comfortable couch and a couple of over-stuffed chairs, all facing a fireplace. Bookshelves line the walls at either side of the hearth, but there is a notable lack of electronics. No television, or stereo, just lots of books and comfy places to curl up and read them. A large picture of a woman who looks startlingly similar to Fawn resides above the mantle, she is dressed in a white gown and holding a bouquet of crimson roses, a light shining from her brown eyes and a sweet smile curling her lips. "That's my mother. I don't remember her, because she died when I was born. The picture was taken on their wedding day." She peers at her mother a moment, then motions for them to sit, giggling.
"I didn't even think about having to buy a dress. I'm really going to need your help, Ashelin. I've never been to a dance before and I am sure that I would be hopeless at trying to buy something suitable for one." She shoots a shy glance at Kung Woo, then flushes and skitters out of the living room and into the attached kitchen, mumbling something about refreshments.

Captain Hook!
xxx
Shuffling along the sidewalk, head slightly dropped as he shouldered one of his backpack straps loosely, Marshall ran through his head what had happened just moments ago.
The light-brown-haired girl glared up at the nervous, blond boy, crossing her arms over her chest as she shifted her weight so that her hips were slightly slanted, her weight mostly on one leg. “Marshall,” she hissed, her voice coming out thin and threatening as the boy gulped, though he had at least half a foot on her. “You don’t want to take me, do you?” The boy’s dark green eyes shifted from the glaring girl to the impatient customer at the counter, tapping her foot as she “ahhem”ed and pointed to the coffee beans she had in a pouch. Peeling his gaze off of the impatient woman, he nervously fidgeted with the hem of his apron, not aware of how stupid he looked, wringing the cloth, and cleared his throat. “Well, you know, I…I didn’t think that you’d…” heaving a sigh, frustrated at her confusing actions, Marshall finally blurted, “I thought you had a boyfriend, alright?!” shocked by her immediate response.
The girl flipped her hair over her shoulder, scoffing. “Um…one, I broke up with him, like, a month ago…and, two, I never liked him.” Resuming to smiling up at him sweetly, Maddie stretched up onto her toes to lock her arms around Marshall’s neck. The boy was now breaking out into cold sweat. “So do you have something to ask me now, sweetie?” she purred into his ear, and Marshall inwardly groaned. There was no way the situation would turn out positive.
Sighing as he replayed the stuttering of the invitation to Homecoming to Maddie and her squealed reply of “Yes! Definitey! Hmm…I’ll go see if I can fit into that dress from tenth grade…”, Marshall mentally slapped himself for being such a sissy. But it wasn’t totally his fault, he guessed, because Maddie was the girl that had started his slight phobia of girls. It wasn’t totally his fault, he continued to think, that he was too chicken to respond in a way that would benefit himself when he was with Maddie. She just had some kind of…power…over him, in a way.
Marshall adjusted his backpack, making it so both of his arms had comfortably slipped through the straps so he was wearing it normally. As he walked shuffled along, Marshall lifted his head, looking around. He walked past a dress shop, almost bumping into a shorter Asian girl. “Whoa! Sorry!” he apologized, steadying the girl and stooping to pick up the bag she’d dropped. “Sorry, I was…I guess I wasn’t paying attention…” as he chuckled at himself, Marshall straightened up, handing the bag to the girl before breaking out into a genuine smile and leaning back so he could view her fully. “Hey…Jamie, right?” and verified it in his head. They both worked at the café, but she’d seemingly started earlier than Marshall had. “Remember me?” Marshall continued to smile, pointing to himself for emphasis. “I’m Marshall. Marshall Greene. We both work at the café.” Marshall certainly hoped she remembered him. Oh, the embarrassment if she didn’t…

Jamie walked out of the dress store only to have a boy almost knock her over, thank goodness it was only the bag she dropped and not anything else. Looking up to see the boy who bumped into her, she saw that it was Marshall. "Dont worry Marshall i remember you" she answered, giving him a small smile. Jamie did have to admit that Marshall was a cutie, but most guys were. Taking the shopping bag from him, she put her cell phone away and dropped her car keys into the bag, just so that her other hand was free from all those items she was carrying. Now that-that was out of the way, she asked "So Marshall what brings you here, finding a date for homecoming?" Jamie was playing around with him, so hopefully she didint hurt his feelings in any way possible, even though she didnt see a problem coming up from her small comment. Looking back at the dress shop, she could still see the indigo dress, wishing those workers hadnt talked. "Almost like they wanted me not to buy that dress" she thought, turning her attention back Marshall.
Her phone vibrated, holding up a finger telling Marshall to wait a moment. Opening the phone she got last week, reading over the simple text messege from their boss at the cafe. "Hey could use some help" her boss had texted. Jamie was wondering if she should go in and help today, seeing that she really didnt have anything better to do she replied "Okay im coming, i'll try and see if any others will come" closing her phone, she looked at Marshall and asked "Hey Marshall, that was our boss she was wondering if we well more like me could come in an help, but maybe she could use the extra help" If he said no, well that was fine with Jamie, it was just polite to ask and well everyone enjoyed a little company every once and a while, it couldnt hurt anyways.

Karston watched out the window until a waitress came up and greeted him. "Hi there, how may I help you today?" she said with a wide smile on her face. Karston looked at her out of they corner of his eye and went back to staring out the window. "Actually, I have someone else with me, so I'll wait a few minutes." he said, not looking at her. The waitress shrugged and walked off to another table with a couple who had just sat down. Karston continued to stare blankly out the window until Sophie came back to join him.

"Just because I cannot see it..."
~~~~~~X~~~~~~
Bryce hefted the last of his groceries into his trunk and then slammed it shut, still berating himself for blurting out his entire life story in front of Kassidy and Claire, his face set into an unaccustomed scowl. He turned with his cart and pushed it back up toward the store, after realizing that it was a shorter walk there than to any of the cart corrals around the lot. Maybe I should go back over and apologize again for saying all of that? No, no, Kassidy is working and Claire is probably already gone. Besides, it's better to just pretend it never happened and maybe they will, too. He rubbed the tension gathered in the back of his neck as he handed the cart off to the greeter with a little smile, still muttering under his breath at himself.
"Anyway, I have to get home before the...Oh! I forgot the ice cream!" He turns from the door and rushes back inside, knowing that if he comes home without his aunt's weekly pint of Chunky Monkey, she will be disappointed. He skids to a stop on the right aisle and heads down to open the door, shivering at the blast of cold air that washes over him. He picks out a pint of Chunky and then grabs some Cherry Garcia for himself. Holding the freezing pints in his hands, he heads back to the registers, deciding to just pop through the self-check lane, rather than embarrass himself further, or make Kassidy feel weird by snubbing her line. He scans his ice cream and pays with his credit card, grabbing the bag to head back out of the store, knowing his aunt will be wondering where he is.
Smiling as Jamie acknowledged him, Marshall shook his head and chuckled as she asked if he was out to find a Homecoming date. “No…not really,” he confessed, suddenly realizing that Feline wasn’t really the one he wanted to ask. It was going to be Brandyn or no one.
And judging by the looks of it, Brandyn was going to just go and hang out, dateless.
Now to Jamie. She was a pretty girl, Marshall guessed – or, rather, the better wording would be “decent”. A lot of the senior girls were pretty, though some of their personalities…not so much. The majority of the grade was boy-crazy – which Marshall, needless to say, did have a problem with, especially when they were boy-crazy toward him – and took on flirting and hitting on guys as habits and hobbies. Jamie was different, and was more decent than the majority of the girls Marshall acknowledged, and seemed like she had a nice personality. Marshall wouldn’t know too much about Jamie – they were more like acquaintances than friends – but he did know that she was a good person…and one with quite a creative mind, at that.
Concealing his sigh with a smile and nod as Jamie asked if he wanted to go back to the café with her to do some overtime and help out, Marshall tried his best not to think of Maddie’s reaction if she saw him with another girl. And a girl she knew, at that. It was bound to be either
a) squint and glare at Jamie and “mark her territory” by clinging on to Marshall
or
b) tease Marshall and start chanting the childish “sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g” song that she was quite known for.
Marshall certainly hoped for the second reaction. He didn’t know what he’d say if Maddie started glaring at Jamie for no reason Jamie was aware of. “Sure,” he finally replied, slowly turning on his heel and waiting for Jamie so that they both started to pace back to the café.
Holding the door open for Jamie to enter first, Marshall loosely shut the door behind himself, inwardly groaning at the sight of the giddy-with-excitement Maddie behind the register counter. “Marshie-poo!” Wincing, Marshall returned with a weak, forced smile and a slight wave, turning to Jamie and mouthing “don’t ask” before following the Asian girl into the staff room to drop off their stuff and slip into the aprons.
Maddie, needless to state, happily skipped in as Marshall and Jamie were slipping into their aprons and “uniform”, clinging onto Marshall’s arm the second she entered the room. For a minute, she studied Jamie as the girl fixed up her outfit, and, to Marshall’s relief, actually didn’t make a nasty comment as she spoke up. “Jaylee, right?” Well…at least it wasn’t as nasty as Marshall had expected. And on the bright side, Maddie looked more bored than angry. Gulping, Marshall only hoped for the best.
Jamie wondered if Marshall even had a date, but decided to keep her curiousity on the off switch for now. Happy to hear that he would join her back to the cafe, it was only a matters of minutes until they got there. It seemed like the blink of an eye seeing that they were already putting on their aprons. Hearing a femal voice, she wondered who could that possibly be and then looked up to see Marshall mouth two words to her. Just nodding her head in a agreement, she saw that the girl clining to Marshall was none other than Maddie. Seeing as that Maddie never did get her name right, Jamie was getting tired of correcting her. "No maddie, its Jamie not Jay lee" she corrected, a little unhappy with the girl. Putting her shopping bag down, she kept it next to her boss's desk knowing that was the safest place to put it. Going out front her boos told her to man the register and thats what she did. "Hey there, how may i help you, would you like to hear our speacials?" she asked, as she held a cup ready as soon as the customer would order. Looking back to where Marshall and his 'friend' was, she wondered if Maddie was ever going to let go of the poor fellow. "Maybe i could ask him to homecoming" she thought, as she wrote down what the customer wanted. "That will be five dollars and twenty-eight cents sir" The man gave her the money, and she pointed in the area to wait for his latte.
Captain Hook!
xxx
Practically letting out a sigh of relief as Jamie simply corrected Maddie and left the conversation at that, Marshall grinned at Jamie’s bravery and peeled the temporarily stunned Maddie off of his arm to join Jamie behind the register.
He nodded in greeting when she caught her eye, and smiled slightly before turning to the impatient customer tapping her foot, glaring at Marshall as she held up a bejeweled hand to point to something behind Marshall. Marshall turned around to grab a fresh, still-warm loaf of garlic bread, grinning as he inhaled the familiar scent and weighed it for the exact price. “That will be three fifty-nine, please,” he told the Prada-clad mother, raising his eyebrows as she pulled out a shiny gold credit card. He wondered who would use their credit card for a simple loaf of bread, but took it anyway, swiping it into the machine and tapping a few numbers into the touch-screen before pulling out the receipt and handing it to the lady, along with the wrapped loaf of bread. “There you go, come again soon.” Needless to say, Marshall was quite the favorite waiter or man behind the register to get, and almost all of the regular customers enjoyed chatting with him while he prepared their orders.
Stopping himself from sighing as the next customer immediately approached the counter, Marshall pasted on a smile as the little bushy-haired old lady asked in a quivering voice if Marshall could please fetch two loaves of banana cranberry bread for her. “I’d love to, ma’am,” Marshall replied in a cheery voice, grinning as he held up a finger and rummaged through the shelves behind the register for the banana cranberry bread loafs before finding the semi-warm bread and bringing them out onto the counter, following the same routine to fine the exact price and bidding the old lady goodbye after she’d paid.
After repeating the process umpteenth times more, Marshall finally noticed the stream of customers dying down, and most of the regulars were now seated in the little tables, chatting amongst each other in polite, quite tones. Sighing in relief, Marshall wiped the minuscule beads of sweat from his forehead with the hem of his apron, leaning against the counter so he was practically resting his head in his arms. Smiling at Jamie, he straightened up a bit after her line was taken care of, as well. “So are you going to Homecoming?” and realized, the second after, what a stupid conversation-starter it was. Shaking his head and chuckling at himself, Marshall corrected himself. “Well, you obviously are, buying that dress and all…but who’re you going with?”
Oh, i swear, i know, i believe it
Oh, i can't stop hearing all the singing
Oh, my soul has never had this feeling
and it feels like gold
I’m falling more in love with every single word I withhold
I’m falling more in love with every single word you say
I’m falling head over heels for you…
I’m falling more in love with every single word you say
I’m falling head over heels for you…
It was like everything in him had completely shut down with shock. What had Avery just asked? He began to mumble nonsense and was thankful when she got a phone call. Josh took deep breaths to get his system working again. His phone rang in his pocket. It wasn't that he didn't want to go to the dance with Avery. It was just that...he kind of had Sophia running around his head. Between glancing up at Avery to see that she was still talking and hitting the keys on his phone as fast and hard as possible he sent Sophia a message.
"iF yuu woulntd mind id like tht very much, tto take yu to homecming i meann. "
He didn't want to hurt Avery's feelings at all. Maybe he had been imagining things and it was all an infatuation for the girl he'd had lunch and gone of the bikes with. Maybe. Silently, he was praying that Avery wouldn't be too hurt when he told her no. Josh cleared his throat quickly when she came back and smiled slightly. He could feel the smile crumbling. He couldn't do it. There was no way he could say no. 'Suck it up you pansy! You already made plans with Sophia...badly timed but you did them!' he scolded himself. "Avery...I would have liked to go with you...but I kind of already made plans with somebody," he answered. 'You're getting too good with lying....' he thought and frowned. "But I hope this doesn't mean that you'll stop talking to me or try and avoid me. Even though I've barely gotten to know you and all I'd still like to be your friend." Josh knew all too well about the girls he had said no to before who had asked him when he was planning something. They all became quiet and avoided him in every way possible. But Avery wouldn't be like that....would she?
Jamie was surprised by all the people entering the cafe, usually it wasnt this busy almost dead sometimes, but person after came walking in through that small a door, a line even formed outside the cafe. "Some day" she thought. Looking over to Marshall who seemed to be busy himself all smiles and cheeriness. "God he is cute" she thought, turning back to a customer ready to order. "Yes i would like a hot chocolate and a small loaf" she man said. "Well have it right away sir" Jamie answered quickly, grabbing a size tall cup and handing it to Luna their other co-worker. As the man handed her the money, Jamie couldnt help wonder what her mother was doing right now, spacing off for a moment she snapped back to reality, seeing she did everything without noticing it. "Well that was quick" she muttered. With a smile she thought about Marshall's sudden convo starter. "Well Marshall i bought a dress but i dont have anyone to go with" she replied, wiping some sweat from her forhead. "Who are you going with?" she asked, not knowing if he even had a date or not. With the silence their boss came over, giving them some money for such a busy day. Nodding her head as a thanks, her boss left winking at her. Tooken back by the wink, Jamie wondered what she was up to.
