A large smile spread across Elijah's face, revealing small dimples in his cheeks.
"Thank you," he replied to Alex as he returned Isabelle's hug. On impulse, Elijah swiftly raised Isabelle of the ground and spun her in a circle before he set her back down on the grass with a soft 'thump'.
"Nothing really, I stayed in the small town near here for most of it."
"Well I don't blame it, I'm a pretty great guy. But it looks like you found me, so do you want to ask me something or not?" Cal replied rubbing the top of his head. This chick was weird and leading him in circles that he did not appreciate. Plus she had that kinda creeper tone to her, eyeing him like food, and talking about how her senses led her to him. He wouldn't be surprised if she had been following him for a while.
Aeryn placed herself in front of him and cocked her head to the side, her eyes changing to a muddy brown.
"No, I haven't been following you." She perked her head up a bit in defiance at the comment.
"You smelt."
"Please don't do that," Cal said, talking about the telepathy, "It's rude, my thoughts should be just that, my thoughts." Then Matt lifted up one of his arms and turned his head to sniff his armpit. "I really don't think I smell that bad," he continued changing the subject to a more light-hearted one. That was more his style.
"I didn't read your thoughts though, they were coming out of your head by themselves. I can't get into your head." Aeryn replied darkly before joining his lighter mood.
A grin crossed her face, "I didn't say you smelt bad silly. I've just never smelt that combination of smells you have before."
Cal started to become intrigued. "So does that mean that each individual person has their own combination of smells or just me?" he asked Aeryn. He figured that it was the first one, but it would be pretty cool if he was really unique.
Aeryn plopped herself down on the grass with a lazy sigh and nodded at Cal.
"Each person has their own underlying smell.. A smell that makes them.. well, them." She took her time explaining it to him, to make sure he understood.
"Some people might share a certain smell, because their personalities or body chemistry are similar. But you," She pointed to him with a delicate finger, "have a smell I have never smelt before."
"I don't know why that would be? I guess I just have a personality like no one else," Cal replied laughing. But in the back of his mind he figured the girl had never met an elf before and thus hadn't smelled one. The only reason he didn't tell her that was out of habit. If he wanted to be accepted into an outside community he would have to have them think he was human. Then Cal winced. He had just remembered that this girl could read minds.
Aeryn raised one perfectly arched eyebrow and regarded him with an inquisitive look.
"Your smell leads me to believe your keeping something from me, but your face says your in pain." She shook her head sadly, "You elves are quite an odd species."
"I don't think I'm hiding anything from you, that you don't already know. Maybe your nose ain't as perfect as you might think," Cal said, smiling. Normally he would have turned away to look at something else, but he couldn't take his eyes off this girls face. He just wanted to see her next expression.
Aeryn's eyes squinted slightly and her eyebrows furrowed as her face changed into a slight scowl.
"My nose may not be perfect, but my sense of smell is." She retorted with a slight 'hmph' and the end of her statement. Aery's irises became a purple tainted with gold as she crossed her bare arms against her chest.
He doesn't smell like an elf though... She thought silently, her rosy lips puckering in distaste of the thought. He smells like an animal. Wild.. Wild animals kill.. She shivered at the memories the thought brought forth.
"Yea... that makes sense..." Cal mumbled kinda confused by the concept. "So, yea, I figure I should probably find a room to stay in at this school. You wouldn't happen to know where the dorms are?" Cal continued, finally finding a destination that he would be happy to go to. It wasn't that he didn't like hanging with Aeryn. He just felt this conversation wasn't going anywhere.
Aeryn stood and nodded as she wiped off her short denim skirt and neon cheetah print halter of all grass and dirt.
"I've already visited my cottage." She informed him happily, "They're very nice." She beckoned him to follow her with a gloved hand and brought her hand down to glove the other.
"Really? Cottages? I kinda expected tiny dorms, this place shaping up to be much better than I thought it would be," Cal responded as he walked after her. "Have you seen any of the other students yet? I'm kinda surprised that I've only seen you so far," he continued.
"Mmmhmm." Aeryn replied matter-of-factually.
"There was peculiar looking boy in a tree.. an elven girl.. and a few shifted shapers in the forests." Her hand went to her throat and winded her long metal chain around itself. She continued to fidget with her necklace as she said, "The cottages are very nice. As is the school itself."
turning around to face him she asked, "Have you not come here before?"
